Goodreads Rocks!
The Boy Who Wanted to Rock
Hey everyone!
I'm thrilled to be here with my first children's book, The Boy Who Wanted to Rock!
https://www.theboywhowantedtorock.com
What started out as a fun little poem for my son grew into a somewhat large project for most of the past year, while my work (programming keyboards for Broadway and touring theater shows) has been on hold.
Due to the shutdowns, a bunch of my industry friends and colleagues were available to help out with our audiobook and companion songs. We (somehow) got Justin Sargent from Rock of Ages Broadway to sing the tunes, and West End legend Ria Jones to narrate. It was a welcome silver lining to an otherwise bizarre year. Take a peek on Youtube if you have a few minutes.

We were proud and happy to be able to provide paying gigs for the amazing team we assembled: book designer, editor, an all-star band, actors, sound engineer, video editor and a composer. (Paid for with loans and optimism!)
In recognition of the impact of COVID-19 on live entertainment, we will be donating $2 for every book purchased through BookBaby to The Actors Fund, to help provide assistance to arts and theater workers who are currently out of work due to the industry-wide shutdowns. We're talking about stage hands, set builders, musicians, sound and lighting crew, and the many others who are part of the enormous arts economy that's been crippled by the virus.
While I mess around with keyboards and kid's books, my wife has been working like mad - she's a principal scientist with Pfizer, working 'round the clock on their vaccine rollout. Our son and I have been on cooking and Lego duty!
Visit our website for more backstory on the book and info on the team of all-stars who contributed.

Thrilled to see we got a nice writeup over at Broadway world!

Huge thanks to everyone who's been supporting our project, writing reviews and spreading the word!
Sending love and good vibes from Boston!
