Oh LOOK!: Children's Adventures

Hello, everyone! My name is Arba Pema and I have just published my first children's book, which I dedicate it to both my kids, Isabella and Nicolas. My book is called " Oh LOOK!", just like the title of this blog. Illustrations and design of the book are created by me.

Why did I choose the title of the book "Oh LOOK!"?

Every time I see my children playing together, Isabella is always showing something to Nicolas. She always says in an exciting voice: " Oh look, Nicolas, that's a bird! Oh look, Nicolas, it is raining today!". The sentence always starts with "oh look".

We are currently living in Humber Valley, Newfoundland, and our house is located in the middle of a forest. The kids find it so fascinating, and there is always something to see. Weather, alone, is so unpredictable and changes so often. We also see so many kinds of animals and birds that come and visit around our house, such as foxes, chip monks (this one comes inside our house if the door is opened), wild bunnies, wild chickens, moose, craws, etc. Since the book is about my kids, I wanted to relate all the things they do when the weather changes, when it's sunny, when it rains, or even when it snows. You can now have an idea of why the title is appropriate for this book.

Who are the characters of my book?

The characters of the book are Isabella and Nicolas. I also mention their names in the book too. I wanted to make this book so personable for them, that without hesitation, I chose to draw their characters, and name the characters with their real names.

I'm not sure if I can compare myself to other children's book authors, because I never thought I could write a book, in fact, I never thought I could write. There is a lot of room for improvement I am sure, and whoever bought the book, probably noticed it. However, this book is very special because it is bringing two real characters that actually exist and tell a true story. Perhaps, I can say a children's book based on real-life? Through my book, other children can meet my children and relate to their stories.

Will I be writing more children's books?

As of right now, I haven't taken a decision yet. However, I must say that I have truly enjoyed the journey of writing this book, that sometimes I think that I will continue writing. Many ideas run around my head and make me want to write more. But first, I will give it some time to see how this book will be doing.

Until next time...

Arba
