Hello!

My name is Sabrina, and I'm both a science writer/nerd and a huge fan of epic speculative fiction in which you not only have to think, but end up loving the characters. I love putting down a book and being disappointed that it's over. Aestus was my attempt to write that kind of novel (now series)...with my own characters. I think I succeeded. :) Check out Book 1: The City.

Reviews for Aestus, Book 1:

...masterful...on par with the best in the genre” — A. R. Saida

"Aestus is one of the best dystopian sci-fi novels I've read....It's difficult to speak in much detail about Aestus without ruining one of the dozens of mysteries...but every page within the book's covers is worth reading. Aestus has been the best fiction book I've read this y

Something. Whatever I can manage to get down on paper/the screen. I imagine where the story/scene left off last time and try my best to continue it. Sometimes it's really clunky and awful, but generally speaking I picture my work like a movie in my head, so it's not hard to imagine what's going on in the background, for example, and describe aspects of the scene to myself until the logical next piece of dialogue or action becomes clear. Once I understand my characters and their internal/external influences, it's not hard to guess what would make sense for them to do, say, think, etc.

When I really just can't write anything, I step away: go for a walk, clear my head, etc. I also consume a lot of caffeine - masala chai plus chocolate is extremely helpful to me. (less)

Reflections on writing my (first) novel

October 31, 2020

Hello!

It’s almost NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), and I’m debating whether to write novel 3 while also trying to get novel 2 (the second half of my epic sci-fi series Aestus) ready for publication.

I’m very tempted. In the meantime, I have been remiss in updating this blog and I apologize. It’s been a whirlwind – from writing books 1 and 2 to editing to figuring out the Read more of this blog post »
