Bank Shot Your Way to Success

I’ve started playing basketball a couple mornings each week with my son Elijah. I played basketball in high school, but I’m definitely rusty now. My eyes also have a depth perception issue which keeps me from being able to judge how far away the goal is.

basketball goalSo if it’s been a while since I’ve shot a basketball, my brain has to re-learn the court. My arms have to re-learn how hard or soft to throw. Without depth perception, all of my other senses have to engage to help my body know how to get the b...

In Search of a Chivalrous Man

A chivalrous manI’m one of those high-achieving women who earns her own living, mows her own lawn, patches her own water lines, and pioneers innovative trails. Yet, don’t let that self-sufficiency fool you for a second, if given the choice, I’d choose a chivalrous man.

Chivalrous men are a dying breed, and some people are glad of it. The Urban Dictionary says, “Chivalry is something that people always say is dead, but no one seems to know what the hell died.”

I know what died, and I’m mourning its departure. I...

It’s All on Purpose!

2013 can be called the year of change.

Does it seem like the life you once knew has been burned to the ground and you’re left with what appears to be nothing? You’ve been on a roller coaster of change, a ride you didn’t sign up for, and one you can’t seem to get off? Or maybe you were the one who initiated a change – and buckled up for a bumpy ride – but it is turning out to be more challenging than you ever anticipated.

It’s all on purpose!

No matter who you are or where you live, we all see...

Why Settle For Money When You Can Have Infinitely More?

I believe there is an unseen network connecting Light Bearers. Through this network your desires and intentions are communicated. The clearer you are about what you need or desire, the more serendipitous circumstances will align to bring you the exact resources, knowledge and skills you need to accomplish your objectives.

I’ll give you an example, I’ve been going through a major personal transition, and there is a song that has been with me the whole time … helping me retain the vision of wher...

The Difference a Word Makes

I was at the gym this morning, doing my stretches and noticed an elderly gentleman I see frequently. I smiled and said good morning. He returned the greeting and then asked, “Are you an RN?”

“No,” I replied.

“I thought you were an RN,” the white-haired man had a bit of a perplexed look on his face.

“Why? do you need one?” I said with half a chuckle.

“No, I thought I saw you at the morgue.”

“The morgue?” I repeated with raised eyebrows. “Are you a doctor?”

“No, I’m a patient.”

My internal wheels were...

Working with Your Creative Cycle When Writing a Book

There is a natural ebb and flow to our moods throughout the day, throughout the weeks, months and years. If you work with those moods, you can get an immense amount accomplished on writing your book. But if you fight the natural cycles, you’ll end up frustrated and getting little accomplished.

I compare it to the seasons. If you try to grow green beans in the winter, you’re going to waste your time and your seeds. But if you plant them in spring, you’ll see swift growth and be producing beans...

An Author’s Golden Elixir

I’d been fascinated by the life of my 4th great grandmother, Dicey Langston, for nearly two decades before deciding to write a book about her life. Her story was the first fiction novel I ever wrote. It hooked me, reeled me into the power of fiction and the golden elixir of story. Over the next few years, I wrote at least nine more novels, eventually tutoring with editors to further perfect my craft.

Writing fiction was a part of my “hero’s journey” as an author. I traveled to other worlds and...
