ENTER THE WUNDERBUNKER

Dreams really do come true, especially if you set them free.

After months of wrangling, I finally got settled into my new writing retreat this week 💖 This is where I'll be writing and recording WATCHER of the DAMNED for you all, camping out in style in the quietude of my lil' Quonset on the Prairie…

that’s right, I’m holed up in a metal building.

Now, one could say this is a step down from the magnificence of the Dubblewide of D00m, with its spacious 9’x 9’ Boudouir of Bodaciousness, but I assure you, this is not just any metal building - this is the WUNDERBUNKER!

As you can see, the WunderBunker is a paeon to the glory of Free Furniture and Funky Frippery, brought to you by Church Garage Sales and Amazon Prime. Thanks to the Methodists, I was gifted this leather sectional sofa and now have achieved the 1970s conversation corner of my dreams. The ponchos and sombrero adorning this majestic beast are gifts from beautiful Mexico and my Father.

The WunderBunker of Weird is actually quite cozy, or will be once I get the woodstove set up.

Until then, the electric blanket will do, along with the completely safe and entirely well thought out extension cord space heater combo. I CHECKED THE AMPS IT IS SAFE and if that Space Heater does happen to tip over, it will land on the freezing cold concrete floor and shatter just after shutting off due to the tippy safety thingy. Fortunately, the thermal curtains actually insulate quite well; they were 5 DOLLARS A PAIR, a real deal, and totally worth every penny.

I also got this guy on sale. His name is Ernesto Jalisco Noteraje; he is now my Guardian Shower Curtain and I love him.

But the Piece de Resistance, the Crown Jewel of the WunderBunker is the bed canopy I cobbled together from curtains, a bamboo hoop, mosquito netting and a round tablecloth-

I festooned it with fairy lights and christened it the Jellyfish of Joy.

It is supposed to be my writing sanctuary, but it has become inhabited by smol fuzzy creatures:

I am writing anyway.

As I survey my little Weird West WunderBunker, I am reminded of the grandiose dreams I’ve had, of Tudor Cottages inspired by Painters of Light, or Timberframed Texas Ranchhouses rising above bluebonnets. But I am a Country Preacher’s wife, living a life financially framed by the decision to serve God on Sundays…

so with his own two hands, my Husband helped raise the ribs of this modern day quonset hut, devotedly assisted by our Son, Daughter and our loving Friends. We did it cash only, debt free, and a little piece at a time -

and what little we had turned out to be just enough.

Love and patience created a Pulp-Fiction Paradise, the perfect garden for my mind to create my stories. It is not a Tudor Cottage, or a Texas Ranchhouse - it is Blessed by the God of Love, filled with the sound of rain on a metal roof in the deep of night beneath the fairy light. Let the world go by, beyond the doors of my imagination…

I am dreaming in the WunderBunker, nestled with my pets beneath the elusive Jellyfish of Joy.
