The Omega and the Assassin

4172TheOmegaAndTheAssissin510w-430x645Available now at eXtasy Books!

Blurb:

Simon may be the best tracker out there, but somebody else is on his trail, and if he doesn’t watch it, they may just catch him and not release him.

Raised to never trust any other shifters outside his inner circles, the last thing Simon wants to do is to work with a Wolf, much less an Omega.

Finn doesn’t want to work with Simon any more than Simon wants to be with him. Not only does the assassin intimidate him, but Simon is nothing more than a jerk. But, despite all that, Finn finds himself growing attracted to Simon, which is crazy because he hates Simon.

Will Finn and Simon be able to put their differences aside to give love a chance?

Excerpt:

After Tate rounded up Kline, they left and began to make their way to the cafeteria. They were about halfway there when Finn spotted Simon and his fellow assassins hanging out in the hallway.

“Can you guys wait here a second? I have to ask Simon something.” Finn asked.

“Who’s Simon?” Kline asked.

Finn rolled his eyes. “He’s my assassin.”

“Fine, but hurry up. I’m starved,” Tate said.

“I’ll make sure to hurry before you waste away to nothing,” Finn assured him.

Finn rushed ahead and approached Simon. As he grew closer, his apprehension intensified. He’d been around one assassin before and that had been bad enough. Now he was about to be around a group of them. They all looked every bit as scary as Simon did, too. And like Simon they all screamed Alpha. Why did they always have to wear those damn black cloaks? It reminded Finn of the bad guys from some video game or something.

Simon turned and stared at Finn as he approached. A huge part of Finn wanted to turn heel and run back to the protection of his brothers. But he couldn’t for two reasons. One, he’d just told Tate that he could handle himself without any help. Two, if he did run, he’d look like an idiot in front of the assassins.

So, even though he was trembling from head-to-toe, Finn pressed on until he was standing in front of Simon. Damn, they sure made assassins big. Each and every one of them seemed to tower over Finn. He felt like a little kid compared to the giants.

“I need to talk to you,” Finn said to Simon.

Simon gave a half-shrug. “Then talk.”

Finn could feel a heat come over his face as he felt the probing stares of the other assassins. “I was hoping we could do it in private. If that’s okay with you.”

Simon let out a put-upon sigh, but he grabbed Finn by the wrist and led him to a nearby doorway. Finn tried hard not to notice how nice it felt to have Simon touch him. Even if it was just a little tug on the arm. It was as if an electric jolt had gone up his arm and traveled through his entire body, awakening every sensation within him.

“What was so important that you had to drag me away from my meeting to talk about?” Simon demanded.

He let go of Finn’s hand. Finn felt an instant loss and it was all he could do not to reach out and grab for Simon again. Which would have made a spectacular fool of himself. Not that he hadn’t already done that.

For a moment, Finn just stood there, all deer in headlights, as his mind tried to catch up with his aroused body. While he and Simon were far from actually being alone, in the alcove of the doorway, it sure felt like it. All Finn could think of was all the naughty things they could do without anyone being the wiser.

Finn felt like he was losing his mind. Why in the hell was he thinking that way? He hated Simon, and Simon had made it perfectly clear that he hated Finn. So, the last thing Finn should be thinking about is getting jiggy with the Tiger.

Yet, there was no denying it. He wanted Simon. No, he needed Simon. Just as much as he needed his next breath.  While Finn might not have gotten out much, he’d run across enough guys to be attracted to more than a few, but none had ever hit him this hard. What was it about Simon that made him so different?

Simon crossed his arms over his chest and gave Finn an irritated glare. “I’m waiting for my answer. What is it that you needed?”

“I was wondering if you could give me swimming lessons?” Finn blurted.

Finn didn’t need his heightened sense of smell to know that question shocked Simon. The Tiger’s brows raised and he let out a low whistle. “Wow, that one came out of left field. Not that you don’t need them, but why come to me?”

“Because you’re the only one I know who can swim.”

“Yeah, I noticed you don’t get out much.”

Finn leaned against the wall. “So does that mean you’ll do it?”

Simon rubbed at his chin. “Sure, I guess I will. The feline coalition has a pool we can use.”

Finn felt a thrill go through him. It would be a chance for him to get some alone time with Simon without the Betas being around. With just the two of them together, who knew what could happen?

But he hates you, remember?

Finn told his inner monologue to put a lid on it. So he had feelings for Simon. What was the big deal? It wasn’t like anything was ever going to happen because of them.

Simon shifted them around so Finn was braced against the door, and Simon had a hand on either side of Finn’s head. Finn’s heart began to race as he realized the assassin had him pinned in.

Simon leaned in and made a big show of sniffing Finn. “Boy, you must be really nervous, because you missed it completely.”

Swallowing hard, Finn gazed up at Simon. “Missed what?”

Major Update Time!

Sorry that I haven’t posted in a while. Things have been hell’a busy around here. Not only did I have to drive a million miles to go to Cody’s school to have him do my hair. (which he did a fantastic job on, by the way) but, cone-head dog has been keeping me on my toes. Plus, I have been trying to get Joie ready for school. All the while, I’ve been banned from saying “back-to-school” by Joie. It’s crazy around here I tell you! Crazy!

But, enough about my problems. Let’s get on to business. LOL First off, the winner of the Wax-Vac contest was: DebraG! Contact me at Stephani@Stephanihecht.com about your prize.

I have had a tone of new releases. I didn’t mean for a huge clump to come out all at once. It just worked that way. So, in case you missed one here they all are.

Skye has always lived life...

SkyesLimits6x9

Available Now at eXtasy Books

Skye has always lived life like it’s one big party. He makes his own rules, and consequences be damned. But one night when he takes things too far, his older brother steps in and demands he cleans up his act.

In comes Alden, known as one of the toughest trainers at the feline coalition, he takes on the job of turning Skye’s life around. The last thing the Tiger shifter expects is to find himself drawn to Skye, despite his bratty ways.

Will Alden be able to help save Skye from himself? Or will Skye self-destruct and shatter both of their lives?

Excerpt:

“Hey, I have a question for you,” Skye said.

He hoped that Alden wouldn’t laugh at him or make light of what he was he about to say. If he did, Skye didn’t think he could take it. After being marked as the coalition loser for so long, Skye would be destroyed if Alden thought of him in the same manner. Skye didn’t know why Alden’s opinion meant so much to him, but it did.

“What is it?” Alden asked.

“Do you think I would ever be good enough to be a coalition soldier?”

Skye braced himself for Alden’s answer. Alden paused a moment as he was thinking it over.

“With a little bit of training, I don’t see why not. You are a damn good shooter. You need a lot of work with hand-to-hand combat, but it’s not something that we can’t work with,” Alden finally said.

Skye couldn’t believe it. Not only had Alden not scoffed or laughed at his question, but he had actually said that there might be a chance. Suddenly Skye felt ten feet taller. For once in his life, he didn’t feel like a loser or the coalition stoner.

“You really think so?” Skye asked.

“Yeah, I do.”

“Everybody else thinks I’m just some loser.”

“That’s because you never gave them a chance to think otherwise. You need to show them that you’re something else. I know you can do it if you try hard enough.”

“Do you think they’ll even let me into the soldier training program?” Skye asked.

“With my recommendation, sure.”

Skye shook his head. “Nah, I don’t ever see it happening. To them, I’m just some stoner who is a fuckup.”

Alden stepped closer and put his fingers under Skye’s chin, forcing him to lock gazes with the trainer. Skye felt his breath halting as he found himself getting lost in Alden’s dark eyes.

“You have to prove them wrong,” Alden repeated slowly.

“I don’t know if I can. I’ve been such a fuckup for so long it might be too late,” Skye answered.

“It’s never too late. You changed my opinion on you.”

Skye swallowed hard. God, how he loved having Alden touching him even if it was just his fingers on Skye’s chin. The moment seemed so intimate, yet Skye had to be imagining it. There could be no way that Alden had any feelings toward him. Alden was his mentor. Plus, Alden was one of the best warriors in the coalition. Somebody that everybody looked up to. There was no way possible he could be interested in a loser like Skye.

“I have?” Skye asked, his voice filled with awe.

“Yes, I thought that I was going to be dealing with a petulant brat. Instead, you have been fulfilling all my expectations and then some.”

“It’s because I don’t want to become like Gage’s mother. The night before I came here, I realized that I needed help, and I knew that you were the only one who could give it to me. Sure, there were times when I wanted to argue, but I’m not only doing this for me. I’m doing it for Branson and Gage. Gage already had to live with one drunk. He shouldn’t have to live with another one,” Skye said.

Alden feathered the pad of his thumb over Skye’s cheek. “So that’s why you’ve been working so hard. I wondered why I didn’t get any attitude from you.”

“I want to make sure that I do this right. I don’t want to fuck up this time,” Skye said.

It was so important to him to succeed this time. For once in his life, Skye wanted to make things right. He wanted to stop being the screw up and make Branson proud of him. Most of all, Skye wanted to stop being that scared kid in the cupboard.

Wax Vac and a Contest

photo (40)So, I’m sure you’ve all seen the Wax Vac commercials. You know the ones, where they promise that you will never need another Q-tip in your entire life once you have their amazing product. I was mesmerized, lured, amazed–in short, I had to have one.

The next time Jackie and I were out, I convinced her to stop by the local CVS and we both bought one. I had her convinced that it would work. To her credit, she was doubtful, but I told her, “No, the magical TV box said it would work and they never, ever lie.” So, we took our purchases home and tried them out.

I used it on my ears…nothing. I tried them on my mom’s ears…nothing. I tried photo (41)them on Cody’s ears…nothing. I even tried them on my dog’s ear…the dog ran away, barking. In short, the Wax Vac was a Wax Nothing. It was a waste of my ten dollars. How could the TV box lie to me?

I am now left with a piece of garbage that I’m going to keep just because it has a handy light on the end of it. You never know when you may need it to look under the couch. My Eos lip balms are always rolling under there and I’m lost without photo (42)them.

So, now on to the contest part. Have you ever bought a seen-on-TV product that turned out to be a flub? If so, share it below and you will be entered to win a PDF download of winner’s choice from my backlist.

Coming July 15th

DevilsThe Devil’s Nightmare

Blurb:

It is summer in Detroit, and while the days may be hot, the nights are cold with fear as the body count keeps on rising.

Brad knows that he’s not the most conventional of Wardens. Not only is he a dork in a warrior’s body, but he has a crush on a vampire. But who can blame him? The vampire in question is Jonas. The only problem is Jonas wants nothing to do with Brad and keeps pushing him away.

Jonas knows Brad is attracted to him, and he returns the feelings, but he knows now is not the time for romance. Things are more dangerous than ever for the Wardens. Will Jonas break and give into his attraction? Or is Brad destined for heartbreak?

Excerpt:

Haven came running up and tugged on Adam’s arm, and they both went running to the front of the building. Brad barely paid them any attention, because he was too fixated on the fact that Jonas had actually stood up for them. Maybe there was some hope, after all.

“So what are we supposed to do, stay here and twiddle our thumbs while the city goes up in flames?” Brad asked.

“That’s what the Drones want you to do,” Jonas said.

“And what if we don’t listen?” Brad challenged.

Jonas gave Brad a smile that made Brad’s insides go all gooey. “How did I know that you would be a troublemaker when it came to this?”

“Because trouble is my middle name.”

“Somehow I don’t have any problem believing that. It’s probably even on your birth certificate.”

“No, but I have it tattooed on my ass.” Brad slapped his butt. “Ya wanna see?”

He knew that he shouldn’t be flirting with the vampire this much in front of the others, but Brad couldn’t help himself. After all, it was Jonas, and Brad wanted the man so bad that he could almost taste it. If he could have, he would have climbed the man and conquered him at the moment.

“I’ll pass for right now, thank you. But don’t think I won’t take you up on that offer later on,” Jonas shot back.

Brad was so shocked that, for the first time in his life, he was actually speechless.

He opened and closed his mouth a few times before he came up with a comment, “Name the time and place, and I’ll be there. I’ll even bring the lube.”

Several snickers met that statement, but Brad didn’t care. All that mattered to him was the way Jonas’ eyes darkened with desire. There wasn’t a hint of disgust there. So Jonas didn’t have a problem with Brad being human after all. Then what had been holding him back all this time? Brad was determined to get to the bottom of it, if for nothing else, so they could move past it. That way he could finally get Jonas right where he wanted him, in bed and on top of him.
