10/09/20 Update, REVISIONARY: 29100/32000.
Okay, Polly Want should be done by the weekend and may be done by today. I kind of want to get it finished up so I can get the others squared away. I think it’s been improved significantly, too.

From “Polly Want:”
Kuiz was still breathing, but there was nothing left behind his eyes anymore except pain and fear. Blid envied him. He was going to die knowing what was happening to him.
The two of them had come to the greenspace just at dusk, equipped to capture or kill the [parrot]: Blid had gotten the impression that Kuiz was half-hoping for an excuse to do the latter, and he had every intention of giving Kuiz that excuse. They were fairly-well equipped, too: plastic face shields and arm protection, bag-traps and goalball bats, and even goggles for night vision. That all seemed reasonable at the time, or even a bit overkill. But better to not need it and have it than need it and not have it.
It was just that the [parrot] moved so damnably fast. The [feathers] weren’t strong enough to break bones, but the first pass had sliced off Blid’s armguard, and the second had gutted Kuiz before he could react. Then the [parrot] had calmly perched on top of a tree, seemingly just to watch Kuiz die.

I figure I need to get some technical reading in. Goodness knows, publishing companies don’t just fall out of the sk…
:pause:
Nope, just checked. They’re still not falling out of the sky.

‘Bullets.’
Tweet of the Day, Seo Linn Does, In Fact, Slap edition.
Fairly hard, too.
My eight year old has been begging my dad to let us watch “that Irish boy band” and we were all confused. Then she goes to YouTube and pulls up Irish Folk/Indie band Seo Linn and… they fucking slap. https://t.co/wHtntkt0SY

Album of the Week: POWER UP.
Yeah, POWER UP is going on the Wish List. Maybe I’ll get it for Christmas. Pre-ordered the MP3 album, though.
The INVINCIBLE Amazon series teaser trailer.
Hey, I remember this one!
Via TVWeb. If you’re not familiar with this comic, I’d suggest that you just wait until it hits Amazon in 2021 before looking into it. The trailer itself is very not-spoilery, which is nice. I remember the comic itself being very good, although I never finished it because I… think I stopped hanging out with the person who was collecting it, or something. The days start to blur, after a while.
10/08/20 Snippet, PATCHWORK GOD.
Heresy!

I keep my spare gear in a bag. While being half-shredded isn’t always how one of these jobs end, it happens often enough I’ve learned to be smart about my stuff. At least I didn’t have to replace any clothing this time, unlike Jack. His back had already scabbed over, but he and I were going to need to eat something pretty soon if we wanted to snap back quick.
Or eat someone, I thought happily as looked down at the now-immobilized Blasphemous Tome. I had stabbed a needle through its spine in just the right place to destroy its ability to move, or do anything except drown in pain; as soon as I could find a grill somewhere, Jack and I would be all set. Although I suppose we could just eat the Tome raw, but where’s the fun in that?
The funny part? It’s still a better fate for the Tome than us dragging it back home. Which we’ve done, when one of our targets has been really egregious about what it had done to the humans. We may not love humans the way the Other Side does; some of us don’t even like humans. But a deal’s a deal, and the one we have with the Other Side works out pretty good for us, all things considered. Besides, our Boss hates traitors trying to escape, because if he couldn’t quite manage the trick, then neither should anybody else.
10/08/20 Update, REVISIONARY: 28300/32000.
This last story will probably hit 8,000 words after all. Neat-o.

From “Polly Want”:
…it wasn’t out of Kuiz’s mind. “Look at this,” he said to Blid one afternoon. Kuiz had called up a map of the greenspaces outside the city and was pointing out a collection of dots. “This is where the creature is.”
“All right,” said Blid. “How do you know?”
“Animal attacks,” said Kuiz. Blid blinked. “There’s been reports of treerat mutilations in the area. The greenstewards have been assuming that a pack of foxes or some other predator was involved, but if you see the still pictures” — Kuiz called them up, and Blid grimaced at all the blood — “you can see how it can’t be that.”
Blid made himself look. For a moment he didn’t see anything of the sort; but then, something clicked in his head. “Oh. All the treerats had their heads attacked,” he said.
“And their brains sucked out,” Kuiz said, almost happily.

‘Cry Little Sister.’
Tweet of the Day, Cheetawwwww edition.
The Morgan Barod cheetah story won’t be in the Tales From the Fermi Resolution Kickstarter, but it’s probably going to be in the short story sampler now. THE KING-CAT COMMANDS IT.
