EVIL DEAD: THE GAME footage trailer.

Groovy.

The age-restriction is reasonable, by the way. EVIL DEAD: THE GAME is gonna be gory: ANIMAL CROSSING, it ain’t. Which is as it should be.

Car is loaded for Galactic Con tomorrow!

Got some prints of the book cover made and a few last-minute bits of gear. Car is loaded up and ready to drive in the morning, and now I get to go to Galactic Con and… try to sell books to people I don’t know. Yay.

I assume I’ll sell something: the books are priced to go. If I unload about… half of them, I’ll break even. Not to mention the business cards and so forth I’ll be passing out. But my comfort zone, inside this is not.

PS: Yeah, it’ll probably be fine.

So, hey, check your Amazon foreign marketplace prices.

As in, sit down and do the actual calculations for your books. The computer doesn’t actually do that for you. Do your own due diligence.

…Yes, that is what I’m doing right now. Why do you ask?

06/10/21 Snippet, WOLFGIRL KIM AND THE HOA OF DOOM.

Back on schedule! …ish.

The smell grew thicker as we went into the wetlands. It was definitely organic, slightly acidic, and reminded me of fish — but not really. I’ve smelled nastier things, but I was happy for the breeze. I could tell Bradner felt the same way, too. “That’s my first question, Kim. What the heck is that stuff?”

I took a big sniff. “I’m pretty sure it’s from ‘Neither Man nor Beast,’ Detective. So if you were guessing it’s from a monster, you’re probably right.”

“Hey, I didn’t use the m-word,” Bradner said immediately. “I’m trying not to think it, either,” he went on, which got him points for basic honesty. “But, yeah, I was pretty sure it wasn’t an ordinary disappearance. Ah, here we are.”

The Determinedly Old-School MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATIONS trailer.

Come, I will conceal nothing from you: I watched a good bit of SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER, because my wife loves that show. I liked it well enough. It wasn’t particularly aimed at my sub-demographic, but not everything needs to be and it wasn’t badly written. I got no beef with that series, in other words.

I note this mostly because, after watching this trailer, I can see no path forward for crossing over that particular IP with MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATIONS.

Interesting cast, too. Some names there…

Kevin Smith created the sequel series and serves as showrunner. The all-star voice cast includes Chris Wood as He-Man, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Diedrich Bader as King Randor and Trap Jaw, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Stephen Root as Cringer, Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, Justin Long as Roboto, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, Cree Summer as Priestess, and Harley Quinn Smith[*] as Illena.

*…Really, Kevin? Really?

And the Kickstarter’s done!

No Backerkit on this one, so if you missed out, welp, it’ll be on Kindle Unlimited eventually. We funded and to spare, which was awesome; and the extra money will make it a lot easier for me to put out the next chapbook (tentatively titled DESCISIONS) later in the season. So, it went well! A big thank you to everybody who backed.

June 9, 2021

Watched the first episode of LOKI today.

It’s good, although some people online were a little surprised by the aesthetic. The aesthetic is VERY 1970s pre-digital bureaucratic, with analog everywhere. Personally, I liked it a lot — but I also associate said aesthetic with things like CONTROL or the SCP Foundation, which means I’m expecting LOKI to dive into cosmic horror pretty quick. Guess we’ll see if I’m right!

06/09/21 Snippet, WOLFGIRL KIM AND THE HOA OF DOOM.

Not much done today on this project. I’m okay with that. The story’s going well.

But speaking of smells, there was one here I’d never smelt before — but before I could focus on it the detective intercepted me before I could go mucking about in the water. Bradner looked better than he had sounded; when we shook hands his left arm had only a twinge of lingering stiffness in it, and I couldn’t smell any bandages or medicines. He did look a little frazzled, but I wasn’t sure if that was normal for him.

I gave him points for neither freaking out at having to shake hands with a werewolf, nor lingering over the physical contact (he wasn’t too bad on the eyes; but judging from his wedding ring, somebody else had noticed that already). “Thanks for coming by on short notice, Ms. Simon—”

“Please, Detective Bradner,” I interrupted. “Kim is fine.”

That got me a smile. “All right. Kim, then. But thanks. I know this is your day off.”

“It’s a three minute walk for me, Detective,” I replied. “And my superiors have already cleared me to help you.” Which was weird. “So, what’s going on?”
