Harrison Ford injured on Indiana Jones 5 set.
Do we really have to make Harrison Ford do this?
Production on Lucasfilm’s long-in-development Indiana Jones 5 has suffered its first setback, with franchise star Harrison Ford sustaining a shoulder injury while rehearsing for one of the film’s many fight sequences. Further details about the severity of the 78-year-old actor’s injury hasn’t been disclosed.
I mean, really? Who here commanded that this movie be made? Who is the person with such a heart of stone? Ford should be at home, taking his ease. Let him rest!
…Let him rest.
I do like the LOKI show.
Then again, I like the Disney+ MCU shows generally. LOKI in particular is the sort of thing that can only be made when a studio has more money than God and is amusing itself by having Tom Hiddleston sing in Norwegian. Which he does a pretty good job at, mind you.
I know, I know. But the family wants the channel and we’re paying for it, so I might as well enjoy the stuff I like.
06/23/21 Snippet, WE LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE PLACE.
What happened in ’87.

After old Sheriff Conway retired in ‘72 — he died not three years later — his lead deputy stepped in. Sheriff Mike Wiley was what my dad called keen, and I remember him always being around what I guess were the rough spots in town. But not the Place, even though I guess it was the roughest spot of all.
But he’s why there’s a chain link fence around the Place, and why that fence doesn’t have a door. After the Census Lady nobody in town would go there if they could help it, but we don’t have a wall around the town. A vagrant comes through, living rough and looking for an empty house to crash in? Well, the Place still has windows and a roof. That’s gonna be enough, when you’re cold and in the dark.
I don’t know how many people really disappeared between ‘60 and ‘72. I know there was at least one, for sure, and probably two more. I also know none of them were from around here. And I figure Sheriff Wiley knew more than he let on, because one day there was a bunch of guys putting up that fence. Out-of-towners, too. Their truck had Ohio license plates, and they had it up in no time flat, like they were being paid to do as fast a job as they could.
Just got the pencil work for my ‘Pickman’s Model’ picture.
It looks good! …And more than a touch decadent, in a respectably scandalous Edwardian sort of way. Which is what I ordered, so I am pleased. My ‘Pickman’s Model’ project should be completed enough to actually sell the story some time in mid-July*, so keep an eye on my author page…

*Backers will get it earlier. I’m hoping it’ll be ready by the end of the month for them, but no promises.

My wordcount was a trashfire today.

This is what my father told me:
Old Sheriff Conway tried his best to stop that damned Census lady from banging on the door. But she didn’t want to hear anything from us hicks in the sticks.
I’m not gonna tell you her name. That was part of the deal we made, afterward. And I don’t remember all of it anyway. But I can tell you she was real young. Just out of college, with one of those degrees that you can trade to the government for a job. She wasn’t really a bad lady, either. Didn’t say mean things or try to push her weight around. But you could tell she thought we were all dumb, and that we were trying to tell her how to do her job.
Which we were! Because her job meant going up to the Place, and that was a real bad idea.
I think I’ll be back to 100% tomorrow.
It’s been that kind of week. My wife is waking me up at the crack of unholy dawn tomorrow to get a walk in, which should help. Or at least galvanize. And this weekend I get a few days to myself. A vacation would be lovely, really.
Kickstarter surveys for my “Pickman’s Model” have gone out!
If you backed, you should be getting one via whichever email you used for the Kickstarter. It’s just to confirm email addresses and what name people want to have for the Special Thanks section: the “Pickman’s Model” Kickstarter was all-digital and limited-scope, so there’s no Backerkit to navigate this time. I should be getting the funds soon; once that happens, it’s just a matter of getting the final art, and putting it all together.
If you did not back, I am hoping to have the story ready for sale by the middle of July. Be sure to check here!
