Debut Romance Novel and Self-Publishing Woes
My debut romance novel, a male/male romantic suspense, was supposed to release tomorrow. But it released today instead!

The final manuscript was due Monday, at 5 pm. Sadly I worked until 5pm, and didn’t have the cover in time because I didn’t think I would finish writing it in time for release. It’s a viscous cycle. My pre-order was locked until release day, October 1. Then I waited. I also set up beta readers and promo posts, thinking I would upload the correct and completed document on release day, then promote when it was live.
Wrong.
I accidentally got myself a 1 year suspension by trying the “unpublish” button. Yeah, don’t do that! I called support and they helped. I uploaded the completed novel and the cover, and it went through in 12 hours.
The thing about self publishing, is that you are beholden to random algorithms instead of the publisher handling these things. You are your own publisher. Turns out that’s what “Self” means. Who’d’a’thunk it?
I figured this called for sharing the blurb:

When Cal runs away from small-town Montana to Los Angeles, and meets the handsome Jayanta Maharaj, he thinks his luck is getting better. The man with Jay is looking for models, but who gets asked to be a model their first day in LA? Before he can change his mind, Cal is kidnapped and brought far away from his American life and innocent world view. Can he trust anyone, or will he have to save himself?
Jay isn’t sure what to do with his lofty degrees, but he knows his family will have something to say about it. He just hopes they don’t learn his secrets. Jay’s family has secrets of their own…
