Being There: Siegel+Gale in Mumbai

Last summer, Siegel+Gale had the opportunity to work with HP to further enhance their brand platform by dialing up the dynamism and authenticity in their photography style. Since then we’ve art directed shoots in Shanghai, London, Los Angeles, and most recently in Mumbai.

Reimagining the Classics: Bringing opera to a new generation with the Pacific Opera Project

The challenges are constant for enduring businesses. Reinvent. Stay relevant. Evolve for current needs, desires and tastes.

But what about art forms? Can the Mozart Requiem stand up to the happiness of Pharrell? Is it possible for Cezanne to attract the same attention as the street musings of Banksy? And will cursive handwriting survive now that kids learn to read and write on touchscreens?

SAG-AFTRA creating an identity after a historic merger: Reflections from our design director Mei Wing Chan

SAG-AFTRA was formed in 2012 by uniting two of America’s great labor unions – Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists – becoming the world’s most influential and recognized union for actors, broadcasters, and recording artists. Siegel+Gale partnered with SAG-AFTRA to create a brand identity to accurately and freshly represent the impact of this historic merger. The new brand story– SAG-AFTRA empowers and protect entertainment and media artists to enrich people’s lives – expresses the union’s commitment to empower its diverse and growing member base.

Exploring New York’s Art Scene with Siegel+Gale’s First Thursday Walk: A Q&A with Bridget O’Neill

First Thursday originally acted as initiative for interested parties at Siegel+Gale who wanted to submit work for the Imprint gallery—a curated collection of photography, film and video stills captured by our talented staff. Many of which are proudly displayed throughout our New York office for all to see. We thought the First Thursday Walk could help each other resolve creative ways to hang, project and display artwork, and foster an internal creative culture, no matter what the medium.

The AIGA Centennial Gala: One Century of Design

Friday was a big night for the AIGA design community as we celebrated its 100th year with the AIGA Centennial Gala here in New York City.  This year’s 24 design leaders were awarded with the prestigious AIGA Medal, the highest honor of the design profession, and the winners were rung in with a festive celebration of all things design and creative in high style. The AIGA Medal is something of lifetime achievement award, awarding recipients the “…recognition of their exceptional achievements, services or other contributions to the field of design and visual communication.”

A brand turned inside out: The Los Angeles Clippers

Like many sports fans, I love this time of year.  Baseball season has just gotten underway, signaling the arrival of warmer days here on the East Coast (this year, who knows) and the hockey and basketball playoffs are also in full swing.  Unfortunately, anyone who follows sports—or who watches TV, reads the newspapers or goes on the internet, for that matter—is aware this great season of fandom has been blackened by the offensive racist comments allegedly made by long-time Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Postcode reaches the big 4 OH

At about the same time the Sex Pistols were planning to spread anarchy across the UK, the Royal Mail was plotting ways to improve mail delivery throughout the UK. In this month in 1974 the Postcode was brought to every town in Britain.

Why logos are important in developing markets

It is widely held among brands in developing markets and budget conscious companies that the easiest way to create impact is with a logo. All you need is an outstanding logo to put on your shop, packaging, website or business card, the thinking goes. This might be partly true, but is not the entire story.

Earth Day: A look back at our work with Clean Energy

In honor of Earth Day, we're showcasing our work with Clean Energy. Clean Energy fuels over 30,000 vehicles each day, and is the only producer of renewable natural gas (RNG) for vehicles. If that isn’t enough, it’s also the sole RNG provider that offers customized blends of natural gas and methane, helping companies meet their individual sustainability goals.

Studies show Millennial consumers are similar to Gen X and Baby Boomers

To be honest, I find many articles that position Millennials being really “different” are echoing an author’s personal concern. Or more specifically, age old tensions between different generations.
