Healing Meditation for My Country

The United States is convulsed these days with dysfunction that are occurring on so many levels.  And we’re less than three weeks from voting to keep or dismiss a President who has contributed, no matter which side of the aisle you are on, the disruption of many of our norms and challenged many of our collective values.

This post will examine some of the dysfunction but, more importantly, offers some thoughts about how to heal some of the wounds.  In particular, it describes the healing I process I used last night to try to soothe our fever.  (This is one of the reasons I believe we are all here on this planet, to offer healing to each other.)

A Difficult Time, This

There has not been as difficult time in my lifetime of 70 years as the last 3+ years.  We have gone from an 8 year period of relative peace (though that time began with a financial crisis)  to a time of near daily upheaval, especially in the past 8 months since the corona virus began.  We have, as a result of unaddressed issues, karma, and an astonishingly turbulent time, been forced to consider a number of deep national issues:

The unaddressed issue of race and the wound that festers up to and including today’s march for Black Lives Matter. It appears, depending on who our new president is, this problem will either get worse or finally begin, begin mind you, to be discussed in a serious way.
The economic growing divide between the “haves very much” and the increasing number of “have not very much”, highlighted by the number of people in line for groceries at our food banks.
The terrible cost of not properly addressing the global pandemic with which we are wrestling, unable to even agree that wearing a protective mask is a good idea.
The tragic, and preventable, loss of jobs and health care, especially among those at the lower end of the economic scale, while those at the top get richer.
The end of privilege and majority status of one group of citizens as we become more diverse and numerous in other groups.
All while global warming that is lurking in the background, while our more “immediate” concerns have taken center stage. This is the biggest threat of all as it threatens our very existence as a species, but is one that some don’t even acknowledge exists.

I’m Moved to Do a Healing Meditation

Very early this morning I woke up in a sweat.  I had been dreaming of being tossed about in a stormy sea, worried that I was going to drown.  “Whew”, I thought, “I’m glad I’m not really there.”  My next thought, however, was “No, that’s not really true .  I am still ‘there’ in an stormy ocean of emotional strife and it seems perilous”.  I decided to do a healing  meditation for my country.

Ever since I took a deep dive into my meditation practice 5 years ago and began writing about my experiences, I have worked to develop a healing meditation technique that I think might be helpful in times like this. (Much more on this topic in my new book Higher Consciousness Meditation).  Or in times when somebody I know might be in distress.  Or when my dog Sasha is sick.

Sometimes this is the only thing I can do to contribute to bettering a situation I find myself in.  A healing meditation.  Doing something to contribute to moving things in a desirable direction, even if only an inch.  I don’t have miraculous healing powers by any means.  But that is not the point.  I am convinced that if I can lift myself into a higher state of awareness, Higher Consciousness, where my Soul  awaits my arrival at all times, that Spirit may begin to flow in a way that might be beneficial to the situation.

As a result, I think I have refined a technique that satisfies me in my quest for a process that will satisfy my urge find a healing process that might be helpful.

The Higher Consciousness Healing Process Applied to This Moment in Time

This is the meditation I did for my Country.  It comes from my book Higher Consciousness Meditation  (see sample chapter from Higher Consciousness Meditation) These are the words I used:

I invite all who are suffering from the strife this Country is going through, those sick and dying from corona virus, those sick and dying from racism,  those who have passed over, the person with little or no income, and all who suffering from ego/minds gone awry, as well as the many on both sides fearful of the outcome of the upcoming election to come into my Holy of Holies, our Holy of Holies for a healing meditation.  (My Holy of Holies is infinitely elastic.)

I also invite all Master Teachers and guides, those who have reached enlightenment and will not be returning to earth, those who have reached enlightenment and are still present on Earth, spirit beings who are attracted to this activity, and  the Higher Consciousness/the Souls of all of us at a point of being able to participate in this activity.   I also invite the Sun, the planets and the moons, and those who are planetary guardians and entities, in our solar system, along with all galaxy entities, local universe entities and entities involved with The ALL to participate.

We are all involved in a transformation on Planet Earth caused by a world disease pandemic of proportions never experienced and a civic political malady that this country has not experienced in a hundred and fifty years.  An occurrence that has caused so many to suffer.

I wish to acknowledge that each being involved in this activity is an Eternal Being  (see explanation in this video). Some are living human beings, some are not, but all are Eternal Beings.  Those of us who occupy 3 dimensional incredibly complicated vehicles are susceptible to this dis-ease.  Fear is rampant, especially fear of suffering and death,  the suffering and death of those we love, the political strife that has struck with inner warfare.

The Call to Participate

I ask us all to put the fear and concern for the human vehicles aside for the moment.  Let us focus on our 5-Dimensional forms, our Eternal Beingness, for the rest of this activity.  And let us include the Eternal Beingness of all  participating in this activity and those not participating.

Start by taking a deep breath.  In…..Out.  And another.  In…..Out……..  And then say, inwardly or  out loud,  “Peace be Still”.  Say it again slowly “Peace….. Be…….Stilness”.  (Saying it out loud amplifies the vibratory benefit, by the way).     Then take a deep breath and say “OM” three times, extending the saying of the word for as long as is comfortable.  (This word, said to be the sound of the Universe, is symbolic of the vibratory rate of the Universe.)

Now let’s pause and let the sound reverberate throughout the Universe.

Illuminate, Elevate, Radiate

Next, I have three words I want us use to help us heal at physical, mental, emotional and spirit levels.  Each of us will respond to this part of the activity differently.  Each of us will respond at different rates of vibration at each of these levels—physical, mental, emotional and spirit.

Ask your Higher Self, your Higher Consciousness, to join you in this activity.  Invite your guardians  and spiritual teachers of whatever type, to participate.  Invite Mother Earth, Mother Ocean and Mother Nature to participate.  Invite the planetary bodies and beings in the Solar System to participate.  Ask the galaxy bodies and beings to participate.  Ask the universe bodies and beings to participate.  Ask The ALL participate.

Say to yourself the word, “Illuminate”.  And then again.  And yet again.  “Illuminate”, “Illuminate”.  Experience the experience of Illumination, your true, natural state.  Open to its vibration.  Let it flame up in your being.  Allow the Light to be turned on.  Then say, “Elevate”.  And then again.   And then again.  “Elevate, Elevate, Elevate”.  Experience the experience of Elevating your consciousness and your Beingness.  Allow Elevation to occur in your being. Experience your Higher Consciousness expanding.  You may feel a sense of Omnipresence in the doing of this.  Lastly, say to yourself, “Radiate”.  And then again.  And again.  “Radiate, Radiate, Radiate”.  Radiate the Illumined and Elevated state you have reached.  Then say, slowly, “Illuminate”, “Elevate”, “Radiate”.  Three times.  Feel the feeling of the highest reaches of your consciousness,

Breathe deeply.  Three times.  Say “Om” three times, extending the sound.  Now let us be silent for a minute to experience the upliftment and healing of the moment.  Allow healing to occur at whatever level is appropriate for you.  Your Higher Consciousness knows what you need.  And you have radiated your healing to others, which has amplified the benefit.  Have no expectations.  Give thanks for whatever healing has occurred.  Humanity has been greatly healed.  The ALL has been healed greatly.  The ALL will unfold differently than it might have because of your participation.

Pause and savor the elevation of your consciousness.  The melding of your awareness with all who have participated.

Know

Know that you individually and collectively can and do impact the unfolding of The ALL.  Know that despite the powerlessness that you sometimes feel that such an activity reverberates through all Eternity.  Know that whatever your station, the Universe depends on your participation in Its affairs.  And even though you may not have the ability to impact much of the 3-dimensional world around you, you also have the ability to impact the Present and the Future with your magnificence.  Know that you matter, especially when you stand in your power and allow Spirit to flow through you and out into your world (one of the Benefits of Meditation).

Those of you who have power in three-dimensional reality, know that you have been bestowed with a sacred duty to use that power for the highest and best good of the rest of us.  That whether by accident or effort, good fortune or the forcefulness of your will, you have been blessed with the opportunity to help us, and yourself, to all grow and evolve in the direction of the Light.  Such is the arc of history.  May none be left behind.

Know that in this moment all divisions, judgments, rancor, desire for retribution and the seeing others as different or less than ourselves is merely folly and the stuff of wayward children.  Know that we are all One and the suffering of one of us effects all of Us.  Expand out to the healing energy that encompassed our Allness and bathe in the Light of the Moment.

Completion

Thank each of you for your participation.  Leave this place uplifted and transformed.  In the days ahead remember your part in the healing of the rest of us and of yourself.  Allow Spirit within to guide you and bless you. Your Eternal Beingness has contributed greatly to your evolution and to the evolution of The ALL.

Let’s do one final “Om”, extending it out as far as is comfortable.

Thank you.  “Nameste” (translate as “The Spirit in acknowledges the Spirit in you).  The Holy of Holies is available to you at any time you chose to go into your own Holy of Holies for healing for yourself and others.   Anytime, anywhere you choose.  Blessed be.

Conclusion

Doubt not your power or your worth to The ALL.  I offer this as a personal story and as a guided meditation, the process you can use in your own life.  You can similarly use your Holy of Holies anytime you are drawn to do so, to heal your relation with one or many.  Trust your Higher Self and Spirit to know and do what needs to be done.  Avoid proscribing outcomes.  You may have your preferences but,  “Thy will be done”.  Spirit may have something different in mind.  Better.  More suitable.  Leave the door open for Spirit to move through you.  And so it is.

What do you think?  Does these ideas resonate?  Could you see yourself doing a similar healing meditation with a family member or a group you belong to?  Comment below.

Amplifying the Health Benefits of Meditation

Almost every day new scientific research emerges to reveal what mystics and meditators have known for centuries—meditation improves our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.  Let’s take a look at this phenomenon, examine the why and how, and find out how to amplify these benefits even more.

Some of the Benefits of Meditation

Studies have been done over the past 20 or more years that show that these, and many more conditions, respond to meditation.  For example, meditation:

Reduces risk of heart disease and stroke
Decreases pain
Improves focus, attention, concentration and multitasking ability
Improves focus, attention, concentration and multitasking ability
Gives you mental strength, resilience and emotional intelligence
Boosts happiness and optimism
Reduces emotional eating

(See my book, The Amazing Benefits of Meditation on Amazon Kindle for a more detailed discussion.)

Why Does This Happen?

Scientists are less clear about the “why?” and “how?” meditation works than about the fact that it does.  This leaves to us who study the subject of meditation deeply and comb the writings of mystics, as well as personally research these questions, to develop our own answers.

Many of the undesirable conditions listed above get started and become chronic because the ego/body/mind gets caught in a loop of cause, effect, cause, effect until a momentum gets generated that self-perpetuates the problem.   Conditions, like the ones listed above and others, respond, or more accurately, recede, by interrupting the flow of the condition with a pause and a break in the momentum of the condition.

This is, of course, what meditation does.  It interrupts the ego/body/mind, especially the mind, in its relentless pursuit of thought, thought, thought, worry, worry, worry, and remembrances of past difficult situations.  Churning, churning, churning.

This is the mind’s job, it seems, in times of threat.  Meditation interrupts this cycle, calms the mind, assuages the ego, and relaxes the body.  The whole system takes a bit of a break, and the body’s natural healing mechanism, which tends toward well-being, kicks in.

Can This Benefit be Amplified?

The next logical question is “Can the interruption of ‘the loop’ be amplified and made stronger”.  I think so. In fact, I think that is what Master Teachers who were healers did.  By amplifying their own healing energy, they were able to interrupt the flow of their patients’ conditions, allow Spirit to flow, and cause healing to occur.

Of course, not all conditions respond to meditation, and modern medicine is needed.  Conditions from  a broken bone to a broken childhood may require the assistance of a trained medical expert.  Even here, though, from  my personal experience, mediation can be beneficial.

My theory about that is that the right kind of meditation can cause the physical body, mental body and/or emotional body, when Spirit begins to flow, to increase our internal  rate of vibration and, thereby, raise the vibration of the effected element of the human system.  Again, interrupting the “loop” or improving the strength of the medical approach being used.

For this reason, I always do a short meditation, a mindfulness exercise, the improve the efficacy of the medicine I might be taking for a short term or long-term condition.  I have the beginnings of macular degeneration, for example, and take eye medicine to address the problem medically.  Ever since I found out, and began my medicine/meditation routine, my condition has ceased to get worse per the ophthalmologist.  I usually accompany my pill swallowing by saying to myself, “Peace, be still”.

Amplifying the Benefit of Meditation

With that I mind I have developed the following guided healing meditation that has served me well.  It goes like this:

I take a moment and a few deep breaths to allow yourself to slip into my Buddha Mind, my Christ Consciousness state of Awareness.
I visualize going into my Holy of Holies. I become aware of my Eternal Beingness of myself by simply saying, “I acknowledge my Eternal Beingness” and then get quiet for a moment.
Next, I state, “I also acknowledge that the condition I have (or the problem I am having)  has no power over me, other than the power I give it”.
Then I begin breathing a series of deep breaths, saying on the Inbreath, “Illuminate”, experiencing my inner Higher Consciousness expanding and becoming illumined.  And then say, “Elevate” on the Outbreath, encouraging the illumined energy to amp up to a higher level of vibration.
I continue to do this until I feel a little bit of a “release” or an extra strong exhalation involuntarily occurs, indicating that the cycle has been broken.  Sometimes it seems very appropriate to say “Ah, Amazing Grace” or “Thank you, oh my Soul”, an indication that Spirit has begun to flow and will do the work that It Will.
I do not, I repeat, do not, proscribe what that work should be, what condition should be altered, or what the outcome should be. I remind myself to “have no expectations”.  This keeps my ego/mind from becoming involved. I recognize that the momentum of the condition has been interrupted, even for just a moment, and that Spirit is involved and some shift, perhaps ever so slight, has occurred.
I then take a couple of more Healing Breaths and return to the present moment.

All these steps comprise a pretty thorough healing process, of course.  There are times however, when I might just say to myself, in any moment I’m inspired to or feel in the need to, “Illuminate” on an Inbreath, and then “Elevate” on the Outbreath a time or two.   The “click” or “release”  I feel that internal “click” or “release” is the indication that Spirit has begun to do Its work.

Conclusion

Give these meditation techniques a try and see what you experience.  It may take you a while, and a number of tries, until the “release” happens.  These are not part of the technique that most meditation researchers use.  Instead, they mostly use a simple mindfulness meditation exercise in their studies.

I have found, however, that the techniques mentioned above have an additional potency and are worth trying.  Do not use them solely, however, as a substitute for the  professional medical attention that may be needed when a problem arises.

What do you think?  Does these ideas resonate?  Have you used similar techniques?  Comment below.

Meditation Matters. Why Are We Here?

Recently I wrote a blog post addressing the question “Who Are We?”  The natural follow up question is “Why are we here?”

In the “Who Are We?” post I suggested that we are two things.  First, and most obviously, we are three dimensional human beings going about our lives on Planet Earth.  In this scenario, we’re born, we live and we die.  And that’s it.

The Lay of the Land

While here we do the best we can to negotiate the difficulties of feeding, clothing and housing ourselves.  Also, we suffer physically, mentally, emotionally as we develop from helpless infants to, in most cases, older adults, going through teen years, getting educated, going to work, having a family, trying to make the best of things.

In addition, we are five dimensional beings, Souls, who have come to this gorgeous, fierce planet to grow and evolve.  We occupy an amazingly complicated biomechanical vehicle for a time and pass over to the Other Side when our vehicle wears out.  While here we have many opportunities to recognize our Soulness, our Higher Consciousness, but there are few who are able to school us about these matters.

Why Are We Here?  We Choose To Be

As the discussion above suggests, we are here to evolve. To evolve from being three dimensional humans into a fully developed five dimensional Spirit Beings.  Planet Earth, as harsh as it is sometimes, is a particularly well suited planet for doing this because of its challenges.  That old saying about adversity breeding character and strength captures the idea well.  Humans have a tendency, if they are up to it, to grow more rapidly when faced with challenges.  Same for Spirit Beings.  Earth serves to advance the careers of Souls more rapidly.

It is said that the line for getting a spot to come to Earth for the challenge, and the beauty, is long on the Other Side.  As I say in my new book Higher Consciousness Meditation,  “We arrive here, Souls from the Other Side with high expectations”.

Our Master Teachers (Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Lao Tzu, the Rishis and others too numerous to mention) have tried to give us clues about the fact that we, in fact, despite the evidence to the contrary, live in an Intelligent Universe of Spirit that wants us to be safe, happy, loving, self-actualized and conscious of our status as Beings with a Higher Consciousness.
This is a Reality that can be only perceived by direct experience, rather than with thought and dogma. Such perception requires, though, a shift in consciousness and contact with our Soul, or individual Higher Consciousness.  But who in our lives teach us such things.  Nobody.  Because few know, despite the efforts of the more advanced of us.
Such understanding, despite being one of the major reasons why we are here, doesn’t come naturally.  The limitations for our human form and ego mind don’t allow it.  Humaness is too focused on survival and trying to make immediate personal conditions as comfortable as possible.
That’s why meditation is so valuable.  It gives us a chance to separate our consciousness, if only for a moment, from our total fusion with human awareness.  We come to think that we are our biomechanical vehicle instead of being the driver of it.
We have other senses with which to perceive Five-Dimensional Reality that must be discovered, since most of us don’t know about them or naturally use them.
Yet, oneness, love, light, joy, peace, health, and abundance are the attributes of this Reality, and are available to any of us who venture there long enough to have them become normal and natural.

My new Higher Consciousness Meditation process is one method to acquaint us with Higher Consciousness and to develop such awareness.  The process has as it’s goal, the development of an awareness capable of perceiving of what is going on simultaneous with human awareness.   To become aware, mind you, is a radical shift, one in which we see ourselves, others and our world from a very different perspective.

We Are Here to Learn New Skills

One of the things I have come to realize, through my meditation practice, is that we have two sets of senses.  Human seeing, feeling, tasting, touching, and hearing.  And the Spiritual Senses of Seeing, Feeling, Tasting, Touching, Hearing, Breathing and Healing. (All of these are discussed in detail in my upcoming book, Six-Second Mindful Meditations.)

Let’s take Sacred Seeing, for example.  In an elevated state of consciousness, we can “see” the Spirit or Soul element of another.  We can see their “essence” and their magnificence imperceptible to the human eyes, which are much more attuned to seeing our differences than our similarities as Beings of Higher Consciousness. The conundrum is that we have to be in a state of Higher Consciousness to see the Higher Consciousness of another.

One way to be in that state is with Sacred Breathing.  Sacred Breathing doesn’t have a direct correlation to one of the five physical senses,  Yet, I think it is the most powerful and versatile of all the Sacred Senses.  Sacred Breaths, Christ Breaths, Transcendent Breaths, Healing Breaths, Love Breaths, Forgiveness Breaths, and others are possible and useful.  It takes so little for us to pause and take a Breath that has a particular purpose determined by our intent.

Sacred Breaths are certainly a way to raise our consciousness, the vibration of our Being, and they are a key component of the HCM process mentioned earlier.  In summary, a Sacred Breath is taken by expanding the Spirit that lies within all of us on the inbreath, pausing for a second to let Spirit pool up, and then radiating Spirit out into your world on the outbreath.  Doing so enlivens ourselves and the world around us.

If/when we are individually and collectively able to make a shift in consciousness, the Garden of Eden will flower forth and we will once again walk and talk with the Father (our personal Higher Consciousness).

Our Oneness, Another Reason for Being Here

We only have to look at the lessons from the coronavirus to see how intertwined we are.  We are all World Citizens subject to the same dis-eases everywhere as human.  Poor leadership and lack for foresight regarding this, and the looming Climate Crisis, will be very painful for mankind if allowed to continue.  And we don’t begin to see that we are connected such that whatever happens to all of us; if one of us suffers we all suffer.

Our Master Teachers indicated, each in their own way, that the Spirit that lies with each of us lies within all of us.  We are all Children of God.  And we have the responsibility to love one another.  And care for one another.  To do so is to care for God Itself.  And we will  live as the Master Teachers did, with magnificence, as bearers of unconditional love and wisdom, illumined with the Light of the Spirit of the All, and worthy of receiving “all that will be added” to us.

We are Also Here to Address the Fruits of  Past Karma

If you believe, as I do, that we are all Eternal Beings.  And if you believe, as I do, that we return to Earth over and over again to learn the lessons we need to learn, then it becomes obvious that some of our lifetimes have not been sweetness and light.  We have all done, in our humanness, mean things to each other.  This creates karmic ties that need to be corrected in order for us to continue to evolve.

These karmic ties are especially strong with friends and relatives in this time around with whom, its my sense, we have spent multiple lifetimes and generated lots of karma.  Some of these are members of our Soul Group, that group of beings who we tend to gather with in some form of relationship, lifetime after lifetime.

One way to address this issue is to use the Sacred Seeing skill I mentioned above.  Seeing the essence of another with whom we are intertwined, by itself, can melt away unresolved karmic ties.  Such is the power of Sacred Seeing.  Another way is to be sure we cause no suffering to those around us. Kind acts also melt karma.

Lastly, We are Here to Establish an Unbreakable Bond with our Higher Consciousness

I took a very deep dive into my meditation practice after being fired in a very traumatic way from what I thought was my dream job.  In the process I began to have amazing insights and experiences, including experiences of Illumination.  I also began to encounter and develop a relationship with my Soul, my Higher Consciousness.

As I turned Within It, my Higher Consciousness was there to meet me.  In my case, I think my Higher Consciousness had waited lifetimes, many lifetimes, for me to begin to Awaken and has been such a great, and patient, teacher.  “He” has become my friend, my mentor, and, increasingly, I’m sensing that a fusion occurring between us.  A Oneness which only requires my turning my attention to Him, at any time, under all circumstances.

These Understandings Are Why Meditation Matters

The alternative model of reality presented in this post is what the mystics and Christed Beings have been talking about, each in their own way, over the centuries:  the Garden of Eden, Nirvana, Paradise, Enlightenment, Resurrection, the World to Come.  They have attempted to take the blinders off our hypnotized eyes.  Each has exhorted us to transcend our small view of reality for the grander reality they were able to see with their inner senses, in their exploration of the transcendent world of 5-Dimensions.  This Reality is perceptible, but with different tools than our five human senses, and our limited view of the world as a dangerous and fearful place.

The tools of perception are the same ones our advanced brothers and sisters themselves used: going Within, long enough and deep enough to experience what’s there, making contact with Infinity, seeing and sensing a different way, and a change in consciousness. Meditation is one of the best tools available to develop the “spiritual senses” that we all possess, have at our disposal, but haven’t been taught to use.

Meditation Can Help Us Ride the Wave

My wife Lynne said this evening as we reasoned together, “Ride the wave”.  She had been talking about suffering, herself, with the charged full moon that we just experienced and the events of the day.  “Surf the wave”,  I added, acting out a man on a surfboard..

This post is about riding the wave of personal unfolding, national unfolding, collective consciousness  unfolding, world unfolding, and solar system unfolding with the planets doing their astrological dance which we watch,  Riding the wave to manage difficult times is something we all are going to have to learn to do.  Difficult times are only just beginning.

The Times

As amateur astrologers we pay attention to the dance of the planets as a metaphor for the times we are in.  From our sanctuary we are watching all signs and goings on.   We have a reality show going on in our living room in blazing color and sound.  The ultimate narcissist playing out the drama of being President of the United States in 2020.

, by moment, by moment.  Day by day.  At all levels that dysfunctionality is going on.  Unfolding as it should.  (Now that sounds heretical.  “As it should”.  There’s no in my liberal, mystical mind that what is going on is as it should be.  But it is.)

It is What It Is

The obvious way to know that it is as it should be is because it is what it is..  It hasn’t turned out any other way but this way.  This show before us is the way the Universe is turning out, in its unfoldment.   And it is happening in this country the way it is because of collective consciousness.

“Isness” is happening. The unfoldment of our collective consciousness and unconsciousness is happening before our very eyes.  Along with our culture and our history.  Where we are is as far as we have come.  Dynamically , we each have our individual view of what’s going and what “should” be going on.  Our individual views gets dumped into the mix so that the color of paint we are painting our with with life is the sum total color we have contributed to.

The Trajectory is Upward, Ever Upward

And its dark right now.  Our collective dysfunctionality is unfolding perfectly.  As it should.  As it has to.  So that, I think, we transform and grow as a nation.  As individuals.  As a planet.  This is the march of history, slowly and steadily onward and upward.  However, like any road, it has its ups and downs.

Our species unfolding is in an ever so slow trajectory upward.  Winding and winding.  Circling back and circling back, but each time on a slightly higher plane.  If you live long as long as I have, you begin to see the bigger pattern of the moments strung together into days and into weeks and into months and into years and into a lifetime.

Meditation Helps

I’m glad I don’t suffer over it all so much anymore.  My longer view, and my ongoing meditative experience, results in the realization that there is nothing that needs to be suffered over, because it is all going to turn out.  Not in a way I could ever have imagined, but it does turn out.  My job becomes about staying centered–as much in a state of awareness and peacefulness as I possibly can be.  I can’t go out much.  This is the most I can do.

Meditation helps.  I keep coming back and back to my higher consciousness.  My Awareness of Presence.  Out  of the confluence of forces happening in Blair World.  The world I inhabit.  The world create.  And the world that creates me.

Relax

Hey, I might as well relax.  And enjoy the ride.  And be amazed at the story that is getting told.  Day by day.  A reality show.  Like the Kardashians before the Trumps eclipsed them in public imagination.  What is he/she/they going to do in the next episode?  Who knows?  Wait and see.  Participate as a co-creator with eyeballs to lend to the scene.  And participate in my own reality show.  (Glad I don’t have the attention of the world trained on me 24/7.  That has to be exhausting.  But T man seems to want it.)

Fortunately, one man doesn’t have the power to keep this pace this indefinitely.  Nor do his ardent supporters, I don’t think.  Dictators dictating get very old after a while, I should think, though I’ve never lived under one myself. Fortunately.   Presidents in this country get old very rapidly, with that much attention on them all the time.  Obama aged before our very eyes.  The job turned him prematurely grey.

Recognize the Patterns

The trick to riding the wave, I think, is to recognize the pattern.  Wave building up, wave crashing, wave subsiding, wave building back up again.  It helps to meditate on the cycles, the coming and going of the waves in the ocean we occupy.  And to not get taken over by he details of the events.

Observe them with great interest.  And keep the vibration of my energy elevated so that I can contribute that to the whole.  And live my version of living a human  life from the most peaceful and impeccable place I can.  For myself and for the Universe.

Getting and staying peaceful  helps all of that.  It calms the mind down.  It engages the personal and collective Spirit.  It enables us to choose light rather than darkness. Spirit awakens and flows.  The hot mess begins to cool.  The fevered temperature of the country, and its leadership, could begin to subside.

Maybe.

Conclusion.  The Pendulum

We cannot and will not let the darkness overwhelm us.  The pendulum will swing back eventually, and we’ll see the progress we’ve made, individually and collectively, under duress.  Those who know meditation, can ride the wave and not get sucked under.  I say this to myself from a place of mindfulness,   I remind myself to “Peace, be still”.  And becoming so myself adds a drop of peace to pond of outcome.  For me, for us, and for the Universe’s.

Blessed be.  The ALL is comforted.  “This too shall pass”.

What do you think?  Have you been riding a wave?  How’s that going?  Has meditation helped?  Comment below.

Moving Mountains. Meditation Can Help.

Lynne and I moved a mountain in 6 weeks.  Now I understand the spiritual teaching of Jesus,  “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him”.

This post tells a story of a mountain in my life needing moving and how we did it.  First, the story and then the “how”.

The Problem

Six weeks ago, we received a letter from our landlord’s property manager indicating that they wanted to sell our house, our lease was coming to an end, and we would have to be out of the house in eight weeks.  Shocked…….. Stunned………… Lynne would say that we had just gotten settled after 18 months of moving from San Diego, after a shocking year and a half there, only to be uprooted again.

The circumstances were not good.  In a seller’s market, rents had been rising in the area.  Nice places were scarce and often contested with multiple good potential tenants vying for a place to live without moving out of the area.  Lynne sensed this first and urged us to begin looking immediately although it might mean that we would have to pay double rents for a month or more.

What We Wanted

As I sit here writing this, I am amazed at the whirlwind of activity that has gone on since then, and our good fortune.  Our list of perfect move outcomes:

We intended to find a bigger place for a little less money in a nicer, quieter neighborhood than where we were living at the edge of the ghetto
We needed a property manager who could help us move our mountain.
And wanted a landlord who has bought this house to own as an investment–meaning that we can stay as long as we want to until we are ready to buy or build
A landlord who would allow us to shorten the lease so that we had no overlapping rents in order to move in.
An easy move. I had just agreed to a one month, nearly full time, contract to do work for the organization I had recently become affiliated with.
One not to strenuous. I had recently pulled up lame with “tennis elbow” and was concerned about carrying all those boxes.

 Moving the Mountain

We said to ourselves,” Let’s move this mountain of stuff into a place that is even better than the one we have.  Let’s let Spirit guide our way and go before us to make the crooked places straight.  Let’s allow obstacles to be dissolved and the Unfolding Path to reveal Itself.  Let’s take the next step, and the next and the next, day by day, and trust the unfolding.”

I think this is what Master Teacher Jesus was trying to teach with his message of moving mountains.  Know that you can ask the mountain (whatever the problem that seems to have mountainous proportions) to move aside, staying steadfast in Spirit and believing/knowing that Spirit will stir and work in your favor, and It will.

He said, at another time, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

The only mistake the translation makes with this teaching is to spell You with a small “y” rather than a capital.  It’s the You energized, vibrationally ablaze by Spirit’s Essence that makes moving mountains possible.  The little you, the 3d will falter and whine and give up.  It confidence, actually a Knowing, by You in your state of Higher Consciousness, that makes all things possible.

The Outcome

I wrote at the time, “All is well, although we are both tired weary of packing and unpacking boxes, the latter of which is only half done.  The place seems more expansive, more suited for us to create, grow, and up our vibrations.

The neighbors seem friendlier, more inviting to walk in, and the cats next door less menacing to our two lionesses and our wolf.

Our property manager, Johnny Walker, was all that we hoped he would be.  Our landlord, likewise, accommodating and helpful.  And asked a reasonable, fair price for his property.”

It took digging deep, working together, knowing we could pull off a major logistical undertaking, and reminding each other daily that Spirit and our Higher Selves were infusing our effort to make all of this happen.  But we knew, we KNEW, that all would be well in the end despite the upheaval in the beginning.

Other Lessons

Begin with short, easy wins.  Start by generating an upward movement in your consciousness, and the small things will yield.  Stay with it, grow in It, and bigger hillocks will yield–will respond to the power of your Consciousness. Get comfortable with yourself as an Eternal Being and no mountain will be too big to be removed.  Spirit is neither a respecter of the persons nor the circumstances of three-dimensional reality.  It’s vibrations are the dissolving agent barriers.

My secret sauce was my meditation practice.  I got up every morning, and went to bed, with a 6-minute Higher Consciousness Meditation session (the new meditation process I have developed that is explained in my new book Higher Consciousness Meditation).

I also used one or several of my updated 6 second mindfulness meditation techniques throughout the day.  This helped me to stay tuned up, to breathe into the moving of the boxes, to be patient at the UHaul center, and to observe with interest my achey muscles each morning, letting them unfold slowly in the process of getting up.

(The beauty my Higher Consciousness Meditation (HCM) method is that it enabled me to meditate my way from being clueless to believing I could prevail to Knowing I could.  By learning to use HCM you will learn how to make the transition from ego/mind to Spirit Mind as needed, to think creatively, solve problems, and find the energy to keep moving.  And to move over into Higher Consciousness at will.)

Conclusion

Moving mountains, often meaning accomplishing tasks that are a huge challenge, is not easy.  Often the height of the mountain and the depth of the snow seems too much to overcome.  However, in our case, we over came by committing to the process, staying conscious all along,  using our meditation skills, and allowing Spirit into the process

What do you think?  Would this help you move your mountains?  Have you done this before, yourself?  Comment below.

Fixing the Racial (and Human) Problem Begins with Me

Racial bigotry, which I grew up with in the American South, was many centuries in the making. It surrounded me, from the “Whites Only” signs to the Klan fever that would bubble up from time to time.  It’s important to understand, moreover, that racism is a symptom of a bigger issue that also manifests as religious bigotry, gender bigotry, political bigotry, national bigotry, and species bigotry.  It stems from the human tendency to see others as not part of ourselves but as separate and apart and therefore, somehow, inferior, and not worth of our love and respect.

Wake-up Call

My wake-up call came in the Spring of 1968.  A buzz began in my high school, which had only 2 years earlier been fully integrated. As I stood on the bank above the library at lunch time, a surge of black students, some fellow athletes, headed downtown to protest the assassination of Martin Luther King.  The large plate glass window of the library shattered, and a cheer went up.

“What the heck is going on?” I remember thinking.  I found out soon enough when the news began to spread.  Several days later, at a meeting I had helped organize as the president of the student council, the grievances were clearly and forcefully expressed.  I was shocked.  My mind was, to use a term from the time, “blown”.  I grew up that day.

The dictionary definition of the word bigotry is “intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself”, and even more penetratingly, “obstinate or intolerant devotion to one’s own opinions and prejudices: the state of mind of bigotry”.

Where Does the Problem Lie?

If we can see our state of mind, our ego addiction, our unconscious (in many cases) prejudices as the problem, then we have an opening for change.  For transformation.  The “problem” is huge because the “problem” is, individually and collectively, us.

This problem stems from a lack of understanding of who and what we really are.  We are not merely suffering beings driving an amazingly complicated biomechanical vehicle around on a perfectly habitable planet.  We are also Souls who don’t recognize ourselves and each other.  However, nobody teaches us otherwise.  Because nobody knows.  Except for a few wise ones. A few of our Master Teachers knew and tried to teach us. To no avail.

The Problem Begins With Me.  Us.

Homo sapiens have hit a wall. And we have to evolve. All of us. Some faster, some slower, but “homo spiritus” we have to become.  We have to wake up.  There is nowhere else that ego and personality can take us except over a cliff.  Let us not be lemmings of the two-legged kind.  Let us not go the way of the dinosaurs, and at our own hands.

The solution is a change in state of mind.  And it begins with me.  With you.  With us.  The realization that “me” is also “we”.  That we are all in this mess together.  Recent events have made this so clear.  The George Foster incident has shown that “we” all have a racial problem.  Some are the perpetrators (white privilege) and some are the victims (police brutality against African Americans).  All are affected.

How Best to  Deal with It?

“How?” The how begins with personal inquiry and doing the healing work that is needed. The willingness to recognize what our Master Teachers were trying to tell us–“the Kingdom of God (the All) lies within”.  Within each of us.  Waiting patiently for the human mind to awaken.

There are tools available for such personal healing: for lifestyle improvement, for thought form restructuring, for emotional relief—of which we should take advantage.  My favorite tool, however, is meditation; sit-down meditation and mindfulness meditation can address healing in all areas, simultaneously.

Fundamentally, meditation helps us to get quiet down enough to allow our innate physical, mental, and emotional healing mechanisms to kick in. Bringing healing and illumination to our whole system.  Meditation is a great tool to deal with “corona jitters”.

Some Things We Can Do?

Here are a few other things that we can do to begin to right the wrongs that plague us:

See our Oneness rather than our separateness. A quiet mind can see the Spirit that resides in another.  Can see the suffering of others and want to do something to help.
Greet each other with “Peace be with you”, “Namaste” (the Spirit within me salutes the Spirit within you), or “Gooday mate”.
Offer heartfelt blessings and prayers for the elevation of consciousness within our ourselves, our neighbors, our fellow citizen brothers and sisters, our leadership, our “enemies” and those who vex us, as well as our planet.
Recognize our World Citizenship, and the need to care for our precious Gaia and all of her children.
Stop making war on each other, for goodness sake.
Join and participate in each other’s righteous organizational efforts. Visit each other’s places of worship. Support and financially contribute to causes that promote health and healing.
Vote for candidates of whatever party who promote unity and decry division.
Support a child in need. Volunteer in a school.  Coach a sports team.  Become a surrogate parent or grandparent.
Insist on a proper education, food, and proper medical care for all citizens. Shift our resource allocation to the well-being of people, not the well-being of the system and those who control the levers of power.

Our survival and sanity and growth depend on it.  One Being at a time.

Conclusion

Racism is a symptom for a deeper problem.  That problem being that our ego/minds routinely and insidiously look for differences between others and myself.   And diminish the others, building myself up.  Bigotry.

It takes close examination of motives and the contents of our subconscious mind.  Tasks that are well suited to meditation.  Meditation can take us to a place where we begin to say “Namaste” to each other spontaneously–“The Spirit in me sees the Spirit in you”.

What do you think?  Can you sense your multi-dimensionality?  Haven’t you always known this somehow, even if you haven’t expressed it in exactly this way?  Leave your comments below.

Meditation Matters. Let’s Ask, “Who are We, Really?”

There are a number of interesting ways to answer the question, “Who Are We, Really?”  The question is important to ask because most people would say, “I’m a human being, with all my foibles, living a life on Plant Earth for a relatively limited number of years.  And after that, I’m not sure,”

I’d like to answer that question in several different ways that you don’t normally hear, and my answers come out of the depth and breadth of my meditation practice.  Answers of which I had a direct experience, that surprised me and caused me to reevaluate my ideas of what being a human is.  Including my core insight that we are Eternal Beings having a human experience in an amazingly complicated bio-mechanical vehicle we drive around like a car.

“We’re Three Dimensional Homo Sapiens.” Where Did that Idea Come From?

The short answer is that this has always been our idea of who and what we are.  Homo Sapiens.  Creatures that walk on two legs;  a body with a very active brain. Yet, many of us also sort of know, in back of our minds, that we are “Homo spiritus”–Spirits occupying this body for a while.  Unfortunately, this latter view is seldom mentioned or experienced.

As we begin to occupy our helpless infant bodies, we look to those around us for clues about how to survive.  Unfortunately, almost nobody is “awake and aware” to know any better.  Despite all of our spiritual teachers saying the same thing, that “Spirit lies within us” none seems to know what this means. Or even discusses it, really.  Despite all the sermons that are given, this is not on the menu.  There are few role models for the spiritual alternative; almost no one has a different view from the accepted conventional wisdom.   This conventional wisdom is nearly absolute–everybody thinks, and acts based on the accepted norm, so it must be true.  What other alternatives are there?

The basis for this type of thinking began many centuries ago.  When we lived in caves, a species, we were very vulnerable and without major weapons like sharp teeth, fleet feet, or large, strong bodies.  We were prey driven by fear to survive.  In recent centuries, through our ability to work together, our use of tools, and our technology, we have come to dominate the planet.  Yet fear is still the prime motivator of our species—fear of survival, fear of each other, fear of death.

The flexibility of our bodies and the creativity of our relatively larger brains are our other major assets.  The brain is the body’s bio computer and its interpreter of experiences. It constantly calculates the chances of its host’s survival as well as optimum situational opportunities for getting comfortable.

Fearful conclusions are reinforced by our parents almost from the moment we take our first breath. At about six years old our mind and ego align and, barring a revelation of some sort in our lifetime, the die is cast and the grave is the final outcome.  Ego reinforces the mind’s suspicions and adds its own attempts to dominate, to control the chaos.

Unfortunately, the mind gets bent and twisted by the many influences to which it is subject, day by day–real and imagined occurrences. Most of us have dysfunctional childhoods of one sort or another.  These experiences are often assigned false causes, reinforced by strong, negative, emotional reactions to them. Once a theme gets started it is self-fulfilling and has momentum.

The everyday reality I am describing is what I refer to as three-dimensional reality (3d). It sounds pretty grim and uninviting, this life of ours. Buddha in a moment of penetrating insight, “Life is suffering”.  Unless, and until, we begin to separate a bit from this simple explanation, and begin to see a bigger picture.  With meditation.  This is why meditation matters.  A lot.

An Alternative View:  “We Are Form Clouds”

Here’s what I wrote a couple of years ago about this idea.

“I realized today that I am a Form Cloud.  A hologram.  I noticed this when I went to the grocery store and saw all the people scurrying around getting their daily, weekly bread.  I could see their life force, somehow, and that startled me.  I saw their essences enshrouding their body forms, but their essences were the more obvious.  This is a new understanding for me.  I have always been so focused on the forms, and more importantly in my mind, how they are different from me.

I was a seeing of the diaphanous nature of the form, with the essence as the organizing principal.  I found myself feeling, oh, I don’t know the word exactly, compassionate maybe for the human beingness we all share, and which confounds us so.  Daily existence is so compelling, and attention grabbing, focused on making it through the day, the week, the year, the lifetime.

Outside the store a guy with all of his worldly belongings in a grocery cart caught my eye.  I could tell he was struggling with life, a symbol of the struggles we all experience, in one way or another, no matter who we are.  We’re ensconced in these bodies that are so wonderfully complicated, delicate and invincible at the same time.  Individually creative in 6 billion ways, each in our own little world, a world of our making and its own making.  That’s what’s so confounding—which portion is which.  Life is a constant attempt to attune and attend to our environment for maximum workability, whatever that may be for us.

Most confounding is that sense of the movement of time—this moment, the next moment, and the next.   The next week, the next year, all of which becomes this moment.   A mystery in an enigma in a conundrum.”

This was a visceral, metaphysical wowie experience.  And now, here I am, sitting here, in my chair letting the words, the feelings, the life flow through me an onto the screen.  Vividly knowing that we’re Spirit clouds in-forming and surrounding the physical vehicle that takes me from one place to another to explore, to do, to perform, to have fun, to be serious and to have an experience of life on planet earth, this amazing home base for this lifetime of mine.

Why?

From this perspective earth makes sense as a laboratory, a laboratory to explore the unknown, pushing forward, ever pushing forward, to see literally and figuratively what’s around the corner.  What the next day has in store.  What amazing unfoldment floats in on a wave of gossamer.

All taking place inside of the Spirit Form Cloud that we are; hidden until discovered.  Now there’s a mystery.  Spirit so omnipresent as to be painful.  Beautiful sadness.  Happy startlement.  Everywhere present.  There is no way to think it real, to see it with normal eyes.

The folks at the store were dancing and dancing in an Eternal musical production which only Spirit ears can hear.  The celestial buzz of The Spirit Cloud, the Big Kahuna.  Did you see it?  Just then?  It skipped around the corner and sneaks up from behind.  Only consciousness can conceive of it, infinite Consciousness in a skin bag form, and only when allowed to experience It directly, with nothing in between the knower and the known.

This causes me to say, “Thank you for your Beingness.  For your breath, in and out of Infinity.  For your Omniscience, your all knowingness of that which Is.  For allowing me to participate in the dance of the stars and the microbes and the mighty companions that see all things, in all directions, Allness viewing itself, intelligently. It’s rather like looking in a mirror, I suppose, like being in a hotel room with mirrors on three sides of  the sink.  Reflections.  Then you look at yourself, looking at yourself looking.

Another Explanation—We Are a Bundle of Vibration

Another time, as I sat in quiet meditation, these thoughts came floating through:

I’m a bundle of energy constantly oscillating based on what I perceive, and my mental, emotional, physical reaction to what I perceive.  Or, I’m a conscious being observing what’s going on and reacting from my Spirit, radiating that reaction outward to envelop what I perceive.  Two very different things.
In the first instance my perception goes out to the thing observed, becomes attached to it, and reacts in an automatic way based on the sum total of my 3 dimensional field. In the second instance I am centered within and my Soul processes what I perceive, and react accordingly, from a place of peace.  I like the latter better.
This bundle of energy is holographic and colored by the sum total of my painbody, karma, past experiences, self-talk, and desire to control and minimize danger OR this energy is holographic, holy, awake and aware, and gently interactive with the Universe.  From a 3 dimensional view, the interface with the holographic world with which we are surrounded seems very real, solid and compelling.  And it is.  If you step in front of a bus, physical or metaphorical, you will get run over.
On the other hand, this seeming physical reality is my vibratory state interacting with the vibratory state that surrounds me and is malleable based on the rate of my vibration. Miracles are possible if my vibratory rate is high enough to override the vibratory rate in front of me.  In which case these miracles are not miracles at all but a natural unfolding of Spirit into the 3d world.
From the Spirit World, Five Dimensional Reality, it seems that I generate the vibration that impacts the 3 dimensional world. In three dimensional consciousness, the world just happens to me based on its vibration at any one particular moment.
In a 3 dimensional world, I am an information processor responding to the stimulus of the moment, filtered through the holographic system of the Universe.
There was a story in the newspaper about a holographic system that is being developed that is perfecting the ability to guide you with holographic arrows and education on how to hook up a residential light switch properly.  The hologram is guided by a person on the other end of the conversation.  It is a light hologram where our life is a particle hologram, yet seems much more substantial
This story adds credence to my realization that I am a vibratory being, living in a vibratory world.  One in which all things have vibrations.  From thoughts to emotional reactions to moving in response the stimulus.  And having thoughts that stimulate and shape.

The Last Lesson Comes from Hermes the Great

I heard about a book about Hermes the Great from ancient Egypt, who discovered and taught that there are 7 laws of existence, which later on appear in many religions and  have inspired many spiritual teachers.  I ordered the book, Kybalion, that gives the laws and the author’s expanded version of them.  Law of Vibration is one of the laws that I was most interested in reading about because I had been exploring that subject.

I had come to the conclusion, as indicated above, that everything in the Universe vibrates and has a vibration unique unto itself.  Everything physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.  Everything on all worlds on all levels of existence.

Hermes offered additional insights.  He indicates in his writings that the student of the occult, and one who understands this law of vibration, has a lot of power in his hands.  Especially if he can control his thoughts sufficiently to generate the vibratory rate within himself required to get what he wants.  This law is perhaps the basis for the law of attraction.  Like attracts like because of the similarity of vibration.

Modern proponents of the Law of Attraction say that it is the feeling that is more important than thought, and creates a stronger attractive force than. There are also those that say that holding a picture in mind as if the thing desired is actually in your experience is the secret to the law of attraction or manifestation.

It’s my contention that is very difficult for the average person to develop the skill and mental discipline to do such work.  That most folks are too scattered and unfocused to do so.  I further contend that it is much easier to work with Spirit and your Higher Consciousness to develop vibrational levels that will attract to you  all things needed for your personal well-being, without having to be too specific about what those things are.  Your Soul knows what you need all too well and acts on your behalf to generate them if you will just let Him.

Conclusion

These understandings of “Who Are We?” are why I say that asking the question is important.  If we are not merely warm-blooded mammals at the top of the food chain, and deep inquiry using  meditation can help to plumb he depths of this question, then meditation matters, and our multi-dimensionality matters.  Such understandings can encourage us to awaken to our True Selves help us evolve sufficiently to put an end to fear, suffering, harming each other, and surviving Climate Change.

What do you think?  Can you sense your multi-dimensionality?  Haven’t you always known this somehow, even if you haven’t expressed it in exactly this way?  Leave your comments below.

I will have more to say about this in my forthcoming book, The Laws of Vibration and Attraction, available in the Fall of 2020.

Why Meditation Works for Healing. 5 Ways.

Meditation interrupts the momentum
The loop effect dissolves or disappears
Meditation reveals the truth about human conditions
Meditation shifts our attention
Meditation effects the body’s vibratory rate

Science Hints at Why Meditation Works

Scientific research shows, in study after study, that meditation aids in healing.  From heart disease to stress, meditation works for healing.  In fact, more than 3000 studies on different human conditions prove it out. The proof is irrefutable, as Jon Kabat-Zinn‘s ground breaking research into the subject has shown.

The question I posed to myself is, “Why does meditation work the way it does for healing?” so that we all can understand what is going. I thought that if I could get close to the kernel of truth, to discern the principal behind meditations’ efficacy, we will then have a principal that we can apply to nearly any troublesome situation be it health, wealth, better performance, or any other issue that comes along in our lives.

Meditation Interrupts the Momentum

I think that meditation works because it interrupts the momentum that gets build up within our biomechanical body/mind/personality in the direction of some problem.  The problem begins for some reason.  Who knows–genetic, environmental, karma, a dysfunctional childhood and the pain associated thereto, whatever?

While the cause within 3-dimensional reality can be hard to pinpoint, problems or conditions do occur, possibly involving multiple swirling causes.  And when a condition starts it begins to loop.  The problem gets bigger, causes the causes to amplify, and the problem feeds on itself.  A loop begins to occur, kind of like when I say to Alexa on my Amazon device about a song I am listening to, “Alexa, loop it”, and the song plays over and over.

The Loop Effect Dissolves or Disappears

I’ll bet everyone reading this message will recognize the loop effect.  Somebody does something mean or thoughtless to us and we begin to wonder what’s going on.  We try to figure it out and also begin to think of that person as a “_______” (fill in the blank).  We go over and over the mean thing, and the person’s motivations, and we can’t get it out of our minds.  The loop effect has begun.

We begin to weave a web of upset, negativity, judgment, accusation, and desire to get retribution.  The story begins to take on a life of its own.  We tell those close to us about it.  We speculate together.  We may confront the perpetrator for his/her rude behavior.  An argument might ensue.  More mass is added to the situation and the momentum intensifies.  The loop is hard to escape.

Meditation is therapeutic because it interrupts the momentum.  Sitting in silence and withdrawing attention from the condition, interrupts the influence of the condition.  If only for a moment.  The condition goes into abeyance.  If for only a moment.

Meditation Reveals the Truth About Human Conditions

In addition, if as in Higher Consciousness Meditation, we, in that moment of silence realize our 5-Dimensional Nature, realize that Spirit is the real life force that animates our human body/mind/personality, we allow Spirit to rush into the vacuum left by withdrawal of attention from the human condition.  Spirit, rushing, is a healing agent, going to all corners of our human condition to elevate it to Soul level.  And we become our true Eternal Beingnesses.  If only for a moment.

Human conditions exist only on in the third dimension.  They have no existence in 5-Dimennsional Reality.  My diagnosed glaucoma is not a condition in my Soul.  My existence as Buddha Mind is unaffected by the condition of my human eyes.  The condition is really not real, except in my human eye’s biological condition.

So far my approach to healing my glaucoma has been to go to the doctor every three months to get my eye pressure checked, to meditate before I go and to use mindfulness exercise while I am there, to interrupt the momentum of the visit’s compelling but illusory nature, and to find, so far that my eye pressure numbers have not increased and that I am having no symptoms.

As I write this, I am realizing that the theory behind the medical treatment, the eyedrops and the eye vitamins I am receiving, is to do the same thing.  To interrupt the momentum of the dis-ease, the condition of the biomechanical system that I occupy, to arrest or reverse the condition that has been diagnosed.  Similar intervention as meditation.  Although this hasn’t been the case with this condition I have, the unfortunate thing about medicinal treatment of some physical conditions is that the side effects are as bad or worse than the condition itself.

In my case, I think both my meditation and the medication are helpful.  That my Spiritual intervention adds to the medical effects.  Each can amplify the effect of the other.  Therefore, I do a meditation the morning before going to the doctor and I take a brief mindfulness moment when I put in the eyedrops and swallow the vitamins, which I also do every evening.

Meditation Shifts Our Attention

I can understand why certain conditions like hypertension, for example, respond to meditation.  If you are hyper tense, meditation, becoming more peaceful, would seem an obvious helpful antidote.  But is surprised me that cancer, arthritis, and even psoriasis respond positively.

I’ve concluded that one of the significant reasons that meditation works is that it consistent of withdrawing our attention, and this our human energy from it, allowing Spiritual energy, which is always there (Omnipresence) to flow in and animate the moment.  Realizing that human conditions are merely a part of the illusory, dreamlike nature of our body/mind/personality’s functioning, renders those conditions powerless.  If only for a moment.  If those moments come more and more frequently, the conditions become less and less powerful.

Deepak Chopra, founder of the Chopra Center and teacher of the ancient (Hindu) wisdom teachings, says this more elegantly and succinctly, “There is only secret to healing and it is enlightenment” through meditation.  “And realizing that you are the Universe manifesting through a human nervous system and becoming self-aware.”  (Secret of Healing YouTube video, which includes a recitation of an ancient Hindu guided meditation or sutras).

Meditation Effects the Vibratory Rate of the Body

All things are made up of energy.  The chair I am sitting on may look like it is solid, but science says that it is largely air, and some atomic particles that have been given shape by way of the maker’s intention, as Deepak Chopra has pointed out numerous times in his meditation.  And all energy has a vibration.  This vibration causes seemingly solid objects to be different from each other.

A tree has a different vibratory rate than a car.  The cohesive vibratory rate of that tree makes it look, act and seem different than a four wheeled vehicle. Bodies have a vibratory rate which, unlike a tree, is more more in flux than a tree.  Depending on a number of factors, body vibratory can change from moment depending on our perceptions our surroundings, our thoughts and feelings, and the condition of our body at a particular moment in time.

These vibratory rates are quite complicated.  We may see something that is beautiful but triggers an unpleasant memory from our past.  One part of our brain may be pleasantly stimulated at the same time another part of our brain experiences pain.  This sets up a discordant set of vibrations that can jangle the system we call our body.

The same with stress.  A little stress can be motivating and helpful. Too much stress over a long period of time can be quite damaging and cause disease (interesting the word is a combination of dis and ease, dis-ease, not at ease).  This unease can set up a distressed vibratory rate in our heart or lungs, in turn causing inflammation, a burning, in or one more parts of the body.

Meditation has the opposite effect on the body.  It calms the system down.  It lowers the vibratory rate of various body parts.  It lessens inflammation and, therefore , soothes the dis-ease, causing the body to resume its more normal vibratory rate.  The natural peacefulness that we are born with returns to the physical form.  The body has time to heal.

Conclusion:  Meditation Has Many Amazing Benefits

In my FREE new book, The Amazing Benefits of Meditation, I explore these issues in more depth and breadth, as well as offer some specific meditation techniques that can be useful to achieve a more peaceful state of mind and body.  So important for dealing with the complicated, stressful and troublesome world we live today.  And important for the body’s health, as well.

This is also what my other new book (Higher Consciousness Meditation available at Amazon Kindle)  is about:  a simple but effective 5 minute “sit down” meditation  technique, as well as some new “mindfulness meditations” along with a few of the traditional tried and true ones.  All for the purpose of Illumination.  This is method is easier and requires much less time to get to that State of Awareness where the benefits of meditation can be realized.
