Singapore Math Introduction

[image error] Singapore students tested out as the best math students in the world. Their Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) math scores were not only highest, but they ranked way above the scores of students from 85 industrialized nations. Singapore uses their own technique for teaching math, “Singapore Math." 

The term, “Singapore Math” refers to a teaching method and curriculum developed in Singapore.  It is known for its effectiveness in helping students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. 

The curriculum draws on the work of renowned mathematicians such as Jerome Bruner, Zoltan Dienes, and Jean Piaget, as well as research on cognitive development and learning theories.

The effectiveness of Singapore Math has been widely recognized internationally. It has consistently ranked among the top-performing countries in international assessments such as the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Many countries have adopted or adapted elements of the Singapore Math curriculum in their own education systems to increase math skills within schools.

The Singapore Math curriculum problem-solving and critical thinking skills are the central focus of learning mathematics. The teaching aims to develop students' ability to think logically, analyze problems, and apply mathematical concepts to real-life situations. The curriculum is designed to be coherent and focused, with topics introduced in a spiral progression. 

In spiral progression, concepts are introduced in a progressive manner. Topics are revisited in subsequent grades to reinforce learning and deepen understanding. This spiral approach helps students develop a strong foundation and ensures that they do not forget previously learned concepts.

The Singapore Math curriculum problem-solving and critical thinking skills are a central focus of teaching and learning mathematics. The teaching aims to develop students' ability to think logically, analyze problems, and apply mathematical concepts to real-life situations.

Emphasis on conceptual understanding, model drawing, and mastery-based learning sets Singapore Math apart from traditional approaches to mathematics education. The curriculum emphasizes building a solid foundation for mathematical concepts. Instead of simply memorizing procedures, students are encouraged to understand the underlying principles and relationships in mathematics.

There is much use of Model drawing that involves representing word problems with diagrams or bar models. Bar models help students visualize and solve word problems by representing quantities and relationships graphically and help 

them visualize and understand the relationships between different quantities in a problem. By breaking down complex problems into simpler parts, students can solve them more effectively.

Using a progression of concrete- pictorial- abstract approach, students start by working with physical objects or manipulatives to understand mathematical concepts concretely. They then progress to using pictorial representations before moving on to abstract symbols and equations. 

Students are encouraged to master their knowledge by developing a deep understanding of mathematical concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas or procedures. This approach promotes conceptual understanding, allowing students to apply their knowledge flexibly in various contexts.

To ensure these tactics are used in every classroom, there is a strong emphasis on teacher training and professional development. Teachers are provided with comprehensive training on the curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment methods. The curriculum is organized into specific topics and learning objectives, providing teachers with clear guidelines for instruction. This ensures that they have a deep understanding of the mathematical concepts and pedagogical approaches required to effectively teach Singapore Math.

Below is an example of a Singapore Math lesson plan to teach multiplication of two-digit numbers at the 4th grade level. 

SAMPLE LESSON PLAN: MULTIPLICATION GRADE 4

Teachers are free to adjust the timings, activities, and materials based on the needs and abilities of their students.

Objective:  Students will be able to multiply two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers

Materials: - Whiteboard or chart paper, Markers, Manipulatives (optional), Worksheets or practice problems 

Procedure: 

1. Warm up (5 minutes): Review basic multiplication facts with the students, such as 2 x 3, 4 x 5, etc. Ask students to mentally solve a few multiplication problems to activate their prior knowledge.

2. Introduction (10 minutes):  Introduce the concept of multiplying two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers.Use concrete examples and manipulatives if available to demonstrate the concept, e.g., use base ten blocks to represent the numbers. Explain that problems can be broken down into smaller, more manageable steps.

3. Model the Strategy (15 minutes): Write a two-digit by one-digit multiplication problem on the board, e.g., 
34 x 5. Explain the Singapore Math method step by step.

Decompose the larger number (34) into its place value parts: 30 + 4. 

Multiply each part separately: 30 x 5 = 150 and 4 x 5 = 20. 

Add the two products together: 150 + 20 = 170. 

Show the students how to organize their work neatly using columns.

4. Guided Practice (15 minutes): Provide a few more examples on the board for the class to solve together. Encourage students to use the decomposition and multiplication steps to solve the problems. Offer support and guidance as needed. 

5. Independent Practice (15 minutes):  Distribute worksheets or practice problems to the students.  Instruct them to solve problems independently using the strategy learned.  Circulate the classroom to monitor progress and provide assistance if needed.

6. Closure (5 minutes): 

Review the key steps and strategies taught during the lesson.

Allow for any final questions or clarifications.

Summarize the importance of breaking down the problem and using organized steps. 

7, Extension: - For students who have mastered the concept, provide extension activities such as multi-step word problems or more complex multiplication problems.

[image error]Science teachers hired by the United States Department of Defense (DOD) to teach dependents of the Armed Forces around the world were required to use the SIECUS Instruction Manual (Sex Information & Education Council of the United States) for the required sex education segment of their curriculum. In Kaiserslautern, West Germany, my required science curriculum of 1970-72 included topics common to general science and sex education. The students were given the science textbook. I was given the SIECUS manual in addition to science books.

When given the inch-plus thick SIECUS manual, I was glad I read fast.  The DOD provided additional teaching materials in the form of large 3-D plastic wall models of sex organs, posters, handouts, worksheets, etc. Many facts were included in the eye-opening manual about which I had previously not known.

BABIES BORN WITH BOTH SEXES PRESENT 
For example, I had to teach of babies being born with both male and female sexes exhibited on and in their bodies.  Before birth, both sexes are present in the body. Normally one disappears between 4 to 7 months. If one does not disappear, and the child is born with both present, the manual stated parents were given the option to have one set of sex organs removed from the baby or leave the child as they were born.. Before making a decision, parents were asked, “Do you want a boy or girl?” That question may have made the decision easy for them.

If parents gave permission to have one set of sex organs medically removed from the child, they hoped they chose correctly. They were informed that at puberty the predominant sex would be exhibited.  For example, if they raised their child as a girl and at puberty their daughter started growing chest and facial hair, a deepening voice, showing muscular characteristics of the male, and had primarily male hormones flowing through her body, the child and family faced many difficulties. The child, now missing his/her correct sex organs, would either change their sex affiliations without the proper sex organs and alter their name, or take estrogen to continue being the female sex their parents chose. Having raised a child as a boy, the same type of consternation would take place when body changes took place from female hormones being produced.

Life changing situations such as this happened to babies about which the public had little or no knowledge. The discussion of such sex variations in polite society remained a taboo subject. Yet science teachers were required to teach about such happenings. Birth defects are not uncommon, especially in this age of illegal drugs affecting the unborn child.  

The question my students usually asked when presented such topics was “why did this happen?” As a result of their questions, as in the manual, these future mothers and fathers were taught precautions mothers should observe before and  during pregnancy. Pregnant females should not consume coffee, chocolate, tea, alcohol, smoke or use tobacco, and  drugs/medicines (unless the life of the mother is in question).

THALIDOMIDE BABIES:
Awareness of how medications can cause birth defects was worldwide with the birth of over 40,000 thalidomide children born primarily in Germany without body parts or limbs. Their mothers were told thalidomide was a “safe” pain reliever during pregnancy. After so many children were born with missing body parts, it was emphasized around the world that pregnant females not take any medicines during pregnancy except to save their life. 

I learned that babies born addicted to drugs, legal or illegal, have so many physical and mental changes in their brain that doctors don’t even know what to address.  It’s like studying people who been struck by lightning. Each affliction is different.

Students taking sex education who have studied biology, anatomy, chromosomes, genes, and DNA should be taught of the physical differences discovered between homosexuals and heterosexuals as discussed below.

 

BRAIN DIFFERENCES 
HOMOSEXUAL AND HETEROSEXUAL HUMANS  

[image error]1993, Dean H. Hamer and his associates at the U.S. National Institute of Health published research results indicating “men with specific genes were more likely to be homosexual than were men without those genes.” This addressed X chromosomes containing gene Xq28 that increases the “likelihood of an individual to be homosexual.” Prior to that study there had been arguments that homosexuality had an environmental cause and could be reversed. 

Simon Levay, at the University of California, found size differences for a region of the brain between homosexual and heterosexual men. His result was one of the first discussing physiological differences in the brain. 

In 1991, John M. Bailey at Northwestern University in Illinois published his results showing a genetic inheritance of homosexuality.  In addition, Bailey found that both monozygotic (formed when one fertilized egg separated) and dizygotic (formed when two eggs were fertilized) twins sharing the same DNA were more likely to be homosexual than were other related siblings.

[image error]Hamer studied Bailey’s information and results. He began his own investigation by recruiting 76 homosexual men from the outpatient HIV clinic at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Washington, D.C. His team also recruited a second sample of 38 homosexual brothers, since they share much of their DNA. Sexual orientation was self-reported and categorized. The men stated they were either homosexual or heterosexual.

Hamer hypothesized that homosexuality was inherited through the mothers. (Boys obtain their X chromosome only from their mother.)  His team analyzed family trees and DNA of 114 families of homosexual men. They filled out questionnaires about childhood gender identification, childhood and adolescent development, adult sexual behavior, mental health history and had a medical genetic screen.    

The 114 men studied were asked to rate homosexual tendencies of members of their families. The family members were contacted to verify the accuracy of the 114 reports. The results indicated the genetically inherited X chromosome variable, and not the environment, was the cause of the homosexuality. 

Hamer concluded there is strong evidence that the Xq28 gene contributes to make sexual orientation. His results have been debated.

POST MORTEM STUDY OF PHYSICAL BRAIN DIFFERENCES

[image error]A post-mortem study found that a small section of the anterior hypothalamus in homosexual men was the same size as that in women which is smaller than that found in heterosexual men. More recent studies are reporting there are sexual orientation-related differences in cortical regions of vision and differences in thickness of the cortex at the front of the brain. 

Other interesting differences found by LeVay is a difference in the size of the  hypothalamic structure between heterosexual and homosexual men. 

Notice in the image to the left the size of the hypothalamus of a heterosexual male. 

Levay found that homosexual males brain regions are similar to heterosexual women while those in homosexual women tended to be similar to heterosexual men. It has also been suggested that cognitive traits related to sexual orientation may be reflected in differences in brain anatomy. It is suggested this data is not to be used in predicting an individual’s sexual orientation.

An unusual study of the X chromosome of 409 pairs of gay brothers created interest in the field. John Bailey and his colleagues analyzed data on the Xq28 and a region of Chromosome 8. Hamer had suggested they held genes related to sexuality. More studies are expected. 

This data seems to validate that there are differences in the brains between homosexual and heterosexual men. Therefore, homosexual or heterosexual determination must be present before birth.

 

NOTES:

My use of the SIECUS manual as a science teacher was primarily at Kaiserslautern Junior High School, Kaiserslautern, West Germany during 1970-1972. American dependent students in grades kindergarten through twelve were in Germany due to the location of a the U.S. Army Depot near Ramstein. When returning to the United States and required to teach sex education during science, I continued to use the same manual. 

In February 2023, I examined the 2023 SIECUS manual online and did not see sex orientation segments indexed that were included in the earlier printing. The index now reflects current popular opinions concerning what should be taught in sex education. By leaving this out, it is suggested that educators may not be aware of the facts.

An important topic that should be taught in sex education, in my opinion, is sexually transmitted diseases. The teens I taught believed the physical act of having sex was not dangerous. From their questions and conversations, I gathered that some students had been actively engaging in sex since 7th grade. They were surprised to learn about sexually transmitted diseases that could change their life. Most had been educated about sex but not dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. They had no idea of the dangers involved.

WHY ARE GIRLS REACHING PUBERTY EARLIER?

The Epoch Times posted a multipage article with several hypotheses as to why girls were reaching puberty earlier. Having experienced several sections of the United States which exhibited great differences in sexual maturity of girls in the 1960's, I wanted to add to the information by discussing what California teachers I knew in my Los Angeles school unanimously thought was the cause. Following is the letter I sent to the Epoch Times "Mind & Body" editor.

None of the comments in the article written by Martha Rosenburg addressed what I consider the real cause of girls maturing at younger ages. 

I grew up in the American Midwest state of Ohio. After graduating from Hiram College, I left Ohio to teach General Science at the Alexander Fleming Junior High School in Lomita, CA within the Los Angeles City School District. 

In the classrooms, the first thing I noticed was the physical attributes of California teenage girls. In Ohio, junior high school girls ages 12-14 did not have breast growth like the California girls who looked like 20-25 year old women. It was a shock to see young girls look in body shape at least 10 years older than girls their own age in the rest of the United States. Not only were the breasts enlarged, they had wider hips than Ohio girls. 

When discussing the appearance of girls at lunch one day with other teachers, I asked, "Why are all the girls here so advanced physically? They all look like 25-year old women." 

With no hesitation, the answers from the other teachers were immediate. No one had to take even a second to reflect upon what they were going to say. Out of everyone's mouth came the reply in one form or another, "It's the growth hormones that are put into cattle to make them mature earlier." They went on to tell me that the growth hormones put into beef were initially used in California to make cattle grow faster and for heifers to more milk. They suggested farmers in other states would soon be adding growth hormones. 

At that time, anyone who consumed California beef consumed growth hormones. The teachers discussed that in the lunchroom for several days. The fast-food businesses were beginning to increase in quantity and sell hamburgers to children who normally ate little beef in their diet due to economic situations. 

FIRST DEMONSTRATION OF GROWTH HORMONES IN CATTLE

According to A.P. Raun, the first demonstration of growth stimulation in sheep and cattle with hormone supplements took place in 1947 using diethylstilbestrol (DES) in heifers as a tablet subcutaneous implant. Side effects of vulvar swelling, riding, and mammary development were observed. These programs demonstrated reduced carcass grade and increased muscle leaness. By 1954, DES was orally administered for cattle as approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and used for growing-finishing cattle. It was quickly adopted. 

Low DES residues, along with reported adenocarcinoma in daughters of mothers treated with prescription DES during pregnancy led the Food and Drug Administration to remove the oral DES use for cattle in 1972. This led to many other growth stimulation products for cattle. 

EARLY RESEARCH 

Hormones naturally produced by humans result in behavioral, biological, morphological and physiological Changes. With the growing population wanting and needing more animal products, it was a normal progression for scientists to experiment with growth hormones for other animals. They needed to do so without safety problems through human consumption or by the cattle. Studies involved developments of hormones to determine dosages and format for best results and lowered cost of production. 

The use of thyroid hormones produced increased milk production in cattle. This author wonders if the thyroid problems of 80-million Americans are the result of the thyroid hormones fed to cattle. Milk, cheese, and dairy products would all carry the hormones to the public. When in 1943 the tests involved poultry, producers were elated with a threefold increase in the fat content of the cockerels breasts and leg muscles by 8 weeks. This resulted in application of growth hormones in broilers by 1947. 

Synthesized as an oral estrogen, diethylstilbestrol (DES) was first used in humans to prevent miscarriages. By 1954, researchers found that DES in food for oral applications to cattle increased the cattle growth by 35% with no side effects and dosage control was easier. The patent for DES as an oral growth hormone was filed by Iowa State College and W. Burroughs in 1953 and granted in 1956. This is the era of the Agricultural Products Division of Eli Lilly and Co. Inc. which was manufacturing DES under an exclusive 5-year license for Iowa State College. Since that time, pharmaceutical scientists have developed new drugs and combination of drugs for animal growth hormones. 

By 1956, after approval of oral DES, an estimated six million cattle were being fed the product. Pfizer obtained FDA approval for DES implants for cattle in 1957. Eventually, 80-95% of fed cattle received DES in some form. The FDA prosecuted cattle feeders who did not use DES correctly. They banned all use of DES in cattle production in 1979. 

Since 1979 there have been other growth hormones approved for use in cattle production. Some of the early anabolic, or steroid type agents, include: 

     Silastic estradiol implant for cattle (1982) 
     Estradiol benzoate/progesterone implants for calves (1984) 
     Trenbolone acetate implants for cattle (1987) 
     Estradiol/trenbolone acetate for steers (1991 
     Bovine somatotropin for lactating dairy cows (1993 
     Estradiol/trenbolone acetate implants for heifers (1994 
     72-mg zeranol implants for cattle (1995 
     Estradiol/trenbolone acetate implants for stocker cattle (1996). 

The latest chemical use approved in April 2022 is bovine somatrotropin (bST) to increase bovine milk production. 

The FDA approves an animal drug for food-producing animals only after information and/or studies have shown that the food from the treated animals is safe for people to eat, and that the drug does not harm treated animals, or the environment. The drug also must be effective, meaning that it works as intended. The labeling for animal drug products provides all instructions for safe and effective use and has been approved by FDA.

The FDA publishes public documents (Freedom of Information Summaries) on its website that summarize the information that FDA used to determine that the drug is safe for the treated animals, the animal products (edible tissues such as meat and milk) are safe for humans to eat, and that the product is effective.

CHRISTMAS FROM A WOMAN'S PERSPECTIVE

To a Christian woman, Christmas is one of the most significant days of the year. This day celebrates the birth of the Christ who was born to the Virgin Mary, the most important woman to ever be born on Earth. 

Mary’s birth was preordained by God. Prior to her conception, she was consecrated by God to be the mother of His Son, the Savior of mankind. Messenger angels instructed Mary’s elderly parents to name their daughter Mary and have their grandson named Jesus Immanuel. They were also told how to take care of their holy daughter. 

Apostle James, Joseph’s youngest son by his first wife, accompanied Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem along with two of his brothers. Unlike his brothers, James was present at the holy birth. Later in life, after Christ’s death, James became the first Bishop of Christian churches in Jerusalem. 

The woman who created Christmas through the birth of her Son, Jesus Immanuel, lived with her parents her first three years of life before going to live in the Jerusalem Temple for over a decade. When told of their future daughter, Angels directed her parents what to feed her, how to take care of her, and that she was to be kept separate from people in Nazareth so she would never hear arguments, cursing, and vulgarities that might occur on the streets of their home in Nazareth. The few female children with whom she was allowed to play those first three years in her sanctuary had to be vetted to ensure they and their families were pure in their life and activities. 

The only time outsiders saw Mary during her first three years was during the child’s first birthday celebration. All citizens of Galilee were invited to attend. The only persons allowed to see Mary at that event, however, were the Rabbis and Priests during a private meeting. Mary was to never experience anything that could, in the future, be held against her.  The most famous woman to ever live on Earth was also the most pure from her birth until she married Joseph after the birth of Christ. She became the only woman associated with the Christmas holiday. 

Christmas represents to many women a time when life could be difficult during a pregnancy. Any pregnancy is filled with nine months of hope and love for the growing fetus. In Mary’s time, to be pregnant and not married was difficult for Joseph also. He was required to pass a religious test by the High Priest to prove he had no sexual relations with his betrothed before their marriage and the birth of the Christmas child. His test was one of two ways it was proven that Mary was a virgin. 

Except for Mary, until chromosome tests originated a few thousand years later, women were not aware of the sex of their child before birth. Since all of Galilee, including every Rabbi and Priest who knew about Mary’s future by her first birthday, they also knew she would bear a Son who was destined to be the Savior of mankind. As the mother of Jesus, Mary became the definitive Christmas mother figure. 

When American archaeologist Ron Wyatt found the Ark of the Covenant in Jeremiah’s grotto beneath the crucifixion site after several years of excavation, he discovered a few dark drops on the surface of the Ark. He reported the blood of Christ must have dripped down after the earthquake at Christ’s death. The earth cracked allowing a few drops of blood to drop onto the Mercy Seat.  Angels told Wyatt to take a sample of the dark material from the Mercy Seat to the university to have it examined. 

When he returned days later to learn the examination results, those in the pathology lab hushed at his entrance.  One incredulous technician asked where he obtained the sample. When he told them about finding dark material on the Mercy Seat of the newly discovered Ark of the Covenant, they understood what they had found about the dark material. 

Totally in awe, they reported the dark material was not only blood, but the most unique blood ever witnessed in written history. The laboratory personnel stated the blood cells each contained 23 chromosomes from the mother but only one chromosome from the father. Each blood cell in the sample had only 24 chromosomes. Mary supplied the 23 female chromosomes. God supplied one to create His Son, Jesus Immanuel, the Christ.  To me, Mary was very important in the creation of Jesus in that her body held and protected His through gestation. Since angels communed with her and fed her food from heaven during the time she lived in the Jerusalem Temple, she must have been prepared, health-wise, to carry the Christ child. God insured His Son, the Christmas child, would have human characteristics in addition to being a God. Jesus Immanuel had to experience the human body. 

Although God was with Jesus most of His life, God’s presence was withdrawn for a short time when Jesus was being crucified. Jesus then felt all the sins of mankind that had occurred up to that point in time and all the sins of the future. We can never begin to imagine the pain He felt as He became the Savior of mankind. 

In the past, people could only communicate with God if they had a sacrifice at the altar. Christ became the sacrifice for all future contact with God. Prayers to God must go through Jesus Christ to reach our Heavenly Father. 

The beginning of that story began with the angels announcing Marys’ birth and the future birth of Christ. It is that birth which is celebrated at Christmas, the birth of a God carried through gestation by the pure human female, Mary. 

As Ron Wyatt said, “God knows what he wants shown to everybody.” He also stated, “We cannot deceive God. He knows what is going on in our minds. He knows who is doing things to impress other people and who is doing things because they love God. God has put the love for other people in them.” 

Christian women know we are to love God and pray to Him through Jesus Christ. This is one of the reasons Christmas is so special. Love abounds everywhere and is shown to others as at no other time of year. We were told to love and Christmas is the perfect time to show His love to the world . 

And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”   Mark 12:30-31 

At Christmas, women love to decorate their living space with light to help remind everyone Jesus is the light of the world. Using their creativity and love of Christ, from a small candle to large masses of lights, Christian women remember Christ is the light of the world. Women know how the human children are born. Those who read Apostle James’ testimony about Mary and the birth of Christ will know that Jesus Immanuel entered this world surrounded by light brighter than the Sun. He was the Son of God being born. 

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12 

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts to give the light of knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Corinthians:6-7 

When the question was asked if a drop of water could be placed on the slide containing the blood of Christ, everyone in the laboratory was amazed that the cells began mitosis, the natural dividing that takes place in living cells. The blood, over 2,000 years later, was still alive.    

Before the child was born, she may have known His birthdate would be celebrated throughout the world. Birthdays of current and past humans are celebrated with much fanfare, but not like the birthday of the Christ child, the Son of God. 

Her parents were given instructions by messenger angels how she was to be brought up her first three years before going to live in the Jerusalem Temple for over a decade. From her birth, her elderly parents, Anna and Joachim, ensured the child lived in a sanctuary in her home. According to the angels, she was never to hear angry voices, screaming, cursing, or any of the vulgarities of human life. She was fed only food prescribed by the messenger angels. 

Learning about Mary’s elderly parents affected me as they had prayed for a child most of their marriage. I have known friends and neighbors who have had such difficulty trying to have a child; I could empathize on their childless grief. Women do that, you know. By reading Apostle James’ written & signed testimony of Mary’s biography, I learned facts not in the Holy bible. James was the youngest son of Joseph and lived at the home.  He was in their lives and present at the birth of the Christ child.  He wrote of all that occurred at the birth of Christ which, as a mother, was so unusual and significant to me. Every mother can understand all the feelings and birth events of others. All our lives we have heard and read the Christmas story in the Bible.  We always wanted more details, to know more.  James provided that.  

When I discovered his testimony about Mary, I was enthralled with the facts about a God being born on Earth.  Scholars say James’ testimony was not put in the Bible because it was either too sacred, or because it was ‘about a woman.’ I had no idea that there were any detailed facts about the birth of Christ until I read James’ testimony in its’ original scripture format.  As I read the facts, I could only think about how other mothers would be thrilled to know all about the birth of the Savior of mankind.

  The story is so phenomenal; men and women alike can’t put the book down. They report they go to read a few paragraphs to see what it is like and can’t stop. They read through meals and all day and night until finished, even if it takes more than one day. They are enthralled with the story. They learn the background and facts about the birth of a God. 

Being a female, we can’t help but be proud that Jesus Immanuel, the Son of God, was born to an Earth bound mother. God had him born to a human so the child would have the human experience. But it was not exactly a human birth. Learning the details, I think women who have given birth nod and say, “So, that’s what happened.” We women have always wondered how a child can be born and the mother remains a virgin. Being an eyewitness to the event, James cleared that up. I often wondered if men were as curious as women about that birth. 

Most every mother I know wants all their acquaintances to know they gave birth.  I think deep down, we are awed that the birth of Christ was announced to everyone on Earth with a celestial GPS type marker showing the birth location. When I searched the skies for the Christ child’s birthplace, I examined the skies directly over Bethlehem at six o’clock in the morning because the ancient astronomers observed the celestial heavens in the predawn hours, not at night like present day astronomers.  That is why current astronomers never found the Christmas star previously. They were searching for an evening star position, not dawn like the ancient astronomers.  Using the correct time, latitude (declination) and longitude (right ascension), I located not only the GPS star marker for Bethlehem, but previous other star positions which told WHO was being born to Mary, the most important woman and mother to ever be born on the earth.   

What Christmas means to the most important woman and mother to ever be born on the Earth is the birth of her Son, Jesus Immanuel, the Christ.

Dear Ms. Trudeau, 

I read with interest the “Mind & Body” section of the Epoch times of March 23-29. I can understand why the article, “How to Heal when the Doctor Says There’s Nothing Left to Try,” would be read by those in chronic pain. 

I would like to offer another remedy for pain or conditions that the medical community cannot cure. The remedy is in the form of a healer, a gentleman by the name of Mitch Bensel.  He has been sending God’s healing light to persons in the United States and around the world since he was a child. Bensel initiates God’s healing light through the Holy Spirit. He does not advertise or charge for his service. Until 2021, people learned of his healing only by word of mouth. 

Mitch Bensel, an author and poet in addition to being a healer, is also a narrator and producer of audible books. He narrated two of my books which is how I met him. When he initiated healing through the Holy Spirit for my disabled daughter and I, he cured the painful torn meniscus in each of my knees. The seven splayed discs in my back were made perfect with all pain removed. I never dreamed I would be pain free after years of suffering. My daughter is constantly improving in her complex medical situation. 

In 2021, I was teaching Sunday School at Coburn UM Church in Zanesville, Ohio and mentioned the “Three Healings Mitch Bensel” on YouTube.  It is a 7-minute audio offering three types of healings. By listening to it, all my arthritis pain left me and swelling in a formerly arthritic finger continues to decrease. I have four friends whose debilitating back pain was relieved by his Three Healings audio. When I asked Mitch how the electronic audio could heal people, he replied, "Don't ask me, ask the Big Guy," and pointed up to the heavens. He said he was nudged by God to create the Three Healings audio which has helped many. 

One lady in my Sunday School class, who was healed from debilitating back pain by Mitch Bensel’s Three Healings audio, asked if we could have him come to our church to talk. It happened. His first church presentation was at Coburn UM Church in Zanesville. 

One of my friends, whose doctor told her she would be bedridden and would require 24-hour nursing care the rest of her life, was miraculously cured by Bensel’s touch at that service. The pain left her broken neck the instant he touched it. She is now living in and taking care of her home, cooking, driving, moving about the community and enjoying going out with friends. Her family is so thankful for Mitch’s intervention.

Mitch Bensel fulfilled the Bible prophecy of Revelation 2:17 when he was given a large white stone from God. Walking on an Oregon beach, Mitch asked God for the sign of a large white stone if he was truly to be a healer. The stone was instantly given to him. I have never been nudged to read my Bible before 5 o'clock in the morning. Yet, before dawn on 21 March 2022, I followed my nudges to read my Bible beginning with the book of  "Revelation" that was written in 90’s A.D. by Apostle John during his exile on the island of Patmos. I used the King James Version by Tyndale House Publishers. 

Robert H. Schuller and Paul David Dunn, in “The New Possibility Thinkers Bible” using the King James Version published by Thomas Nelson Publishers, wrote “Revelation is the most difficult biblical book to interpret, inviting several approaches. Advocates of each approach agree that the book was written to assure the recipients of the ultimate triumph of Jesus over all who rise up against Him and His saints.” 

I read chapter one and began chapter two, stopping at verse 17. I couldn't believe my eyes and read it several more times. Until this time in my life, the verse made no impact. Today, it did.

manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name
written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. 

What Apostle John wrote in Revelation 2:17 fits Mitch Bensel to a “T.” 

In my association with healer, Mitch Bensel, I have been told how he knew God wanted him to become a healer. He did not know until later in life he had been destined to work for our Lord God by having a holy birth.

The understanding of that verse came upon me as I read it. I was nudged to explain it to others. To experience this understanding gave a thrill to my body such as that associated with affirmation by the Holy Spirit. Those of you who have felt the presence of the Holy Spirit will know what I experienced.

The verse, “To him that overcometh,” I believe, refers to the difficult life Mitch has had and continues to have. After experiencing many temptations and hardships, he gave his life to God in 2021. He has had to overcome much put upon him by the dark spirits wishing to stop him from serving God. 

In March 2022, he was told by one who knows that he will continue to be attacked by the dark forces because of what he accomplishes to help his Heavenly Father.  To be continually attacked and survive horrific satanic assaults on his life and body may have made his body weak, but his mind is rich and full of the love of God and His Son, Jesus Immanuel, The Christ. Please note that as I write this, things are happening on my computer that have not occurred previously. These events make me think that the dark spirits do not want his holy gift revealed to the world. 

In the verse, “…will I give to eat of the hidden manna,…” I use the commonly recognized definition of manna that is, “an unexpected or gratuitous benefit.”  Gratuitous is defined as “given or done free of charge.” 

That “manna” or gratuitous gift given to Mitch Bensel has been a form of healing unlike any other existing on this Earth that we know of. 

Mitch Bensel, from wherever he is, can gently and quietly initiate God’s healing light through The Holy Spirit by prayer. This healing can instantly move to any location on the Earth at the speed of light. He does not advertise nor charge for his healing. When asked about it, he replied, “How can you charge for something from God?” 

What is miraculous is how he is currently being taught many applications of the healings. He is also being given experiences of different forms of mass healings of persons around the world. 

When he was suspected of having a cancerous mass within his body in the last year, I prayed to God and His Son, Jesus Immanuel, that the mass not be cancer.  Sometimes, during my life, I have been spoken to during prayer and visions. During that prayer I was told in a man’s voice, “HE IS NEEDED IN THE FUTURE.” I knew then his mass would not be cancer and he was going to live. Whatever is going to happen in the future, God is going to use Mitch Bensel to help others around the world. The question is, what is going to happen that mass healings will be needed? 

Using his gift of healing through The Holy Spirit, Mitch Bensel has instantly healed quadriplegics, reversed COPD, chronic pain, afflictions, and many forms of illness unable to be cured by the medical profession.  He healed seven splayed disks in my back, the torn meniscus in each of my knees, arthritis of my hands, damage to my left thumb, and given me peace of mind. 

In the verse, “…and will give him a white stone,…” two miracles occurred to Mitch Bensel involving his being given a white stone. They happened on a beach in Oregon when he asked of our Lord God whether or not he was truly to be a healer.

"I was on an Oregon beach with a friend who doesn’t share her rocks or any treasures she finds. They are hers.  

As I was walking, I decided to ask God if I was really a healer because of the many miracles where people were healed in my life.  I thought it was prayer that did it. I had been looking for rocks. The beach had many small ones scattered in the sand. So, while I was walking on the beach, I said, ‘Okay, God, if I’m a healer for you, I want to find a really big agate!’  

Immediately, my friend reached toward me with a big rock. She lowered her head as though she was bowing, looking down to her feet. She extended her arm straight out to me with the rock in her hand and said, “This is yours.”  

It was a big geode with massive white quartz crystals throughout the center area. Not an agate, but still the largest cool rock on the beach!  

She said, again, “This is yours.”  

[image error]I took the rock from her and was skeptical. Coincidence possibly? So I asked again, “Okay, God,  if I’m a healer, I want to find a blue rock with an “X”  on it. Knowing it wouldn’t happen, there were no blue rocks on this beach.  

God answered me. A in front of me was a small blue rock, I picked it up and there was a grey X on it. I was shocked. Those were two signs from God.” 

Thus is the truth of how Mitch Bensel was given a white rock from God. 

In the verse section, “…and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it,” Mitch Bensel knew by receiving affirmation of being a healer for God, his name was “healer.”

What no one “knoweth” was that the gift of healing he received from the Holy Spirit before he was born was unlike any other type of healing that existed on Earth that we know of. No other human that we know of had the ability or gift from the Holy Spirit to heal another, or masses of others, like Mitch Bensel does. He does not have to see those whom he heals, touch them, or know where they are on this Earth. He only has to be told WHO they are. Omnipotent God knows who every person was and is whom Mitch heals and what healing they are to receive in His time. Their healing might be instantly given. Mitch says all healing is given in God’s time. 

[image error]As Mitch’s form of healing through the Holy Spirit continued, he was taught to refine it and be used by The Holy Spirit as needed. In early 2022, he was nudged to send healing to Covid-19 victims around the world. He initiated the healing that was sent out and it continued to be sent. In the past the energy of God’s healing light would take different amounts of time to different people, depending upon what they needed. 

On this day, when he began to send the healing through The Holy Spirit, the healing sends continued. The Holy Spirit sent healing unceasingly for over two days. Throughout that time, even while sleeping, God’s healing light was moving out into the world. Mitch was shown light moving throughout the world and could feel the energy move to reach others.  It was the most massive amount of healing he had every experienced in one 48+ hours of sending. Like all the healing he experienced, it took no energy on his part.  It took only his thought to do so. Once this Covid-19 healing began, it had to touch so many Covid-19 victims that it continued over two days. 

Many persons Mitch has cured in the past had no idea they were being healed or that he was a healer. No matter where he was, he would see people of all ages in pain or crippled and anonymously send them healing. 

When he worked over 20-years in a trauma unit in a major hospital, no one on the staff or any patient had any idea they were being healed though his prayers or that he was a healer. He secretly initiated healing to many, the healing unknown to anyone but himself, The Holy Spirit, and God.

Thus, one verse in Revelation (Chapter 2, verse 17) has been interpreted by me and explained. What I have stated about occurrences in the life of Mitch Bensel is truth. Whether Revelation is referring to Mitch Bensel in these end times will be debated. Pray to God to discern whether this is true. 

Something most people don’t realize is that Mitch has begun creating crosses from driftwood found along the Ohio River. When the crosses are finished, he says prayers over them dependent upon what the purchaser needs, usually of protection and safety and peace. He asks God to Bless them also. They will be available on his website and are currently sold on Etsy at Mitch Bensel Treasures. Testimonies received of the miracles that have happened with the crosses in their final home or while on the way to their “home” are spectacular and will be posted on his new website.

There have been many suggestions for prevention of Covid-19. The ones posted below are considered to be the most common and logical offered by the medical community and others working for prevention of the disease.

HOME CARE FOR COVID-19 PATIENTS 
AS RECOMMENDED BY HEALTH CARE WORKERS 

1. Doctor Prescriptions for Axithromycin 250mg & Dexamthason 6mg 

2. Sleep on your stomach or side at all times. To keep your lungs inflated well, do NOT lie on your back. Health care workers state the lungs may collapse and/or fluid may flow into the lungs. 

3. Every 2-hours walk 15-30 minutes while moving your arms around to help open the lungs. 

4. Breath in through your nose and out through your mouth to build up your lungs. Start each day with 10 deep breaths like this to initiate your healing system with the vagus nerve. 

5. If in a recliner, sit up straight. While watching TV get up and walk during every commercial 

6. Eat 1-2 eggs a day minimum. Eat bananas, avocado & asparagus for Potassium. 

7. Drink Pedialyte, Gatorade Zero, Powerade Zero or water with electrolytes to hydrate yourself. Drink at room temperature or warm. 

8. Drink water with lemon & honey, peppermint tea, apple cider. Do not drink dairy products. Note, buy local honey if possible. Do NOT buy honey from China which may be diluted with corn syrup. 

9. Have Vitamins D3, C, B, Zinc, Probiotic One-Day. Vitamin D is best absorbed with food.

10. Tylenol for fever ((never ibuprofen!!!) 

11. Mucinex or Mucinex DM for drainage and/or cough. 

12. For cramps in legs, Irene Baron uses the Walgreens purchased  "Hyland's Leg Cramps" medication which is a homeopathic medication. The container holds 40 quick-acting caplets, one or two of which are taken when needed with water. Acting within a few minutes, it is used for 

     stiffness 
     pain in limbs, joints or legs 
     cramps in calves, feet or legs 

Warnings: As with any drug, ask a doctor before use if pregnant or breast-feeding. Consult a physician if the symptoms persist more than 7 days or worsen. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children. 

13. One baby aspirin every day to help prevent blood clots from low activity. 

14. Drink a smoothie a day of blueberries, strawberries, bananas, honey, tea and a spoon or two of peanut butter. 

15. Since you are isolated, when you call family or friends on a smart phone, use FACETIME or similar application to see them.  It will lift your spirits and make the phone visit more personal. You won't feel so isolated.

MITCH SAYS ... THE BENSEL CROSS EXPLANATION

[image error]Mitch Bensel creates his Bensel Crosses using driftwood in Louisville, Kentucky along the Ohio River.  Every cross is different as the woods are tossed by the waters to erode and change in color and shape from wherever they originate. When the cross is purchased, prayers of peace and perhaps protection and or healing are said over the cross. Mitch then asks God to bless each cross before they are shipped to the buyer. Those who receive their crosses can often feel the energy imbedded in the crosses and find their home is more peaceful. After purchasing the first cross and experiencing the energy of the cross, they buy some for family members and friends.  Each one is unique and beautiful. They are available for purchase on Etsy. 

MITCH SAYS ...
 carve crosses out of driftwood from the Falls of The Ohio. The crosses, every one I make, represents Jesus’ love for us. They start with driftwood and are carved with remembrance of the crucifixion. Then they become driftwood again. The driftwood represents love. It appears to flow with light and love when finished and God blesses them. 

[image error]Every cross has grooves and deformities which make it beautiful like He is beautiful by His destroyed, mangled, beaten, and torn flesh. We beat Him causing the blood to leave. It tore his flesh, but because of that, he saved us. 

The beauty of that touch on the cross is that Jesus saved all of us. So while you look upon these crosses, notice that nature tried to change each and make it useless. So, I took these supposedly defeated and ugly pieces of damaged drift wood and began to make each one into what represents love and His sacrifice for us.  

[image error]I take this piece of wood and cut into it. With each cut I see Him being whipped. With each cut I see pieces of His skin fall away. I start with a piece of driftwood, but it becomes a crucifix while cutting it. When finished it becomes a brilliantly beautiful example of God’s love for us and the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, to save our souls. So, it starts as driftwood where time and nature tried to destroy the wood with wearing away at it, disfiguring it. 

I take it home, clean it, and carve God’s sacrifice into it and through it. Finishing up, it returns to just beautiful driftwood in the shape of a cross which represents love. 

[image error]The reason I like using driftwood to make crosses is because time and nature and water and air have altered the wood. I add more grooves and cuts which represent the lashings Jesus received. Nature altered the drift wood like man altered Jesus. They tore into him by lashing him, beating him, and nailing him to the wood. 

When you look upon it you don’t feel sad, you feel euphoric. You feel His love and you see His beauty, His strength and what He gave us, salvation. 
When these crosses are sold, I ask God to bless what that home needs 
The blessings stay with the cross The crosses will find where they are supposed to be. God knows where he wants them. 

[image error]It’s all about respect. I’m not just cutting up a piece of wood. I am at His crucifixion. I feel His love for us. With each cut and alteration of the drift wood I am a witness to His sacrifice. The powerful feeling of His presence is beautifully magnified with His gift to me to feel His love and to create a cross reminding us whenever we glance upon it of His love. They are made with love and respect. They are not made in mass quantity. They are made with love and respect individually touched and carved onto altered and aged wood from the river. 

A friend of mine had a dream and told me I was supposed to make crosses. I didn’t know how to work with wood. But I did my best and they are all unique [image error]and belong to certain people. I know each one will find the home it belongs in. I should say God knows where He wants them. They are still just a piece of driftwood, but they represent the ultimate expression of love. 

Time and nature are natural. That’s why I’m so cool, time has hit me. Making a joke here hope it made ya smile. : )

I first saw the young man speaking on Thanksgiving Day 2021. He was asked by an older gentlemen, “Who is The Holy Spirit?” I was astounded by the depth of the excellent answers. Below is his reply. If you know the speaker’s name or the name of his mediator, please make your comment at the bottom of the page. This is the transcription of the answer to this questionposted by "Glavia Flower 72-9."

This may be the most profound answer as to who The Holy Spirit is.  Enjoy the read.

The Holy Spirit is Jesus without boundaries and limitations. 

The Holy Spirit is Jesus on the cloud if you wanted to put it into technical terms or technology 

The Holy Spirit is the one who gives us the boldness to evangelize.. Think about what he did with Peter in Acts chapter 2. The same man who denied Jesus now boldly proclaiming the gospel. For every time he denied Jesus, a thousand people came to the Lord. 

Think about The Holy Spirit and how He stirs faith within the soul causing us to believe in the miraculous in ways we would not have otherwise believed. 

The Holy Spirit is the one who helps us to pray because no man or woman, no matter how anointed they are, knows the way to the presence of God. Only The Holy Spirit knows the way to the presence. And so in prayer he guides us. In worship he reveals Jesus and makes Him real causing our hearts to be stirred and burned with holy fire so we cannot contain that passion that overflows within us as adoration of Jesus. 

The Holy Spirit if the one who helps us to walk in holiness so that those who are bound and weighed down by the shame, the sickness that is sin. The Holy Spirit offers freedom. He is the Holiness Spirit who often breaks the power and chains of even those habits people have had for years. He breaks those addictions. He breaks those bondages. 

The Holy Spirit is the one who delivers the captive from demonical depression. 

The Holy Spirit is the one who moves in us and gives us revelation of the Word. Sometimes when we read the Word, we’re saying, I just want to see Jesus. 

He causes the information of the Word to go from just information to revelation. Revelation brings transformation. 

The Holy Spirit is the One who goes with and gives us the words to speak when we don’t know what we should say. There are those of us saying, “Holy Spirit help me, I don’t know how to win this one to the Lord. I don’t know how to speak.” The Holy Spirit will stir within you and words will come straight from the Father. 

The Holy Spirit is the one who opens the heart of the sin, causing it to go from stubborn stone hard hearted individuals to people who die before Jesus as law. 

The Holy Spirit is the one who anoints us for ministry and appoints us into the call of God. 

He takes ordinary lives and makes them lives that transform the world. 

I’d like to say that a single moment spent in the presence of The Holy spirit can transform your life. A life spent in the presence of The Holy Spirit can transform the nations. 

The Holy Spirit is that something more. He is a deep stirring. What was it do you think that caused the martyrs to lay down their lives and say, take my blood. We want to preach the Gospel. 

Jesus is Lord. That’s The Holy Spirit, stirring the love of God in their heart. Shedding the love of God of blood in our hearts. 

The Holy Spirit is the one who gives us all the promises of the Father. 

The Holy Spirit is the one who causes us to walk in the perfect year of God. Not by the day, not by the hour, but down to the millisecond.

Healing A Quadriplegic, First Long Distance Healing, 
Not A Healing, & Blood Clots Healed

Mitch Bensel resides in Louisville, KY. As a conduit for God's healing light through Jesus Immanuel, Bensel has been quietly healing others through prayer for over 20-years. 

Quadriplegic Healed
One of the miracles happened to my oldest daughter who injured her brain stem and couldn’t move anything below her head. She called me at work while she was lying on the grass and said she called an ambulance.          
[image error]I said, “I’ll come  and take you to the hospital.” 
          
She said, “No. I can’t move! I fell off John’s shoulders! That’s why I called an ambulance!.” 
          
We went to the hospital. She was still not able to move anything but her head. After X-rays, while she was lying on the examination table, I was praying to God. I asked God to help us with this and that we would make it okay  and no matter what happened He would help us with this disability. I was just praying and prayed with faith knowing he would he hear me.  My daughter was paralyzed. I prayed and then she wasn’t paralyzed. 
                   
She started to move her toes.  The doctor came in and saw her moving. He ordered another X-ray on her neck. She was gradually moving more and more. Then she sat up on the stretcher. 
          
I thought my mother had something to do with it.  I knew a miracle had occurred and believed my mother, who had passed away, had interceded with God and helped it happen. 
          
A few years later in the ER where I worked, one of the residents recognized me. He said, “Your daughter had a broken neck and then she didn’t have a broken neck. 
        
I said, “Yeah, my mom did that.” 

First Long Distance Healing 
 Different things happened in the ER. Too many to actually name. So I thought I was supposed to do hands on and sometimes my hands just moved over patients head. 

[image error]I asked God to show me how to do this. It was just something I did for so long.  I just did. I knew people were helped by God.  It was just part of my day.   We are all healers. We say a prayer to heal with faith. Ask and you shall receive. So I kept questioning. 

Then I was on a game site and an artist spoke to me who was so injured she couldn’t raise her arm.  I was nudged to help her.  I said I would try to send to her long distance. I asked, “Do you believe in Jesus? I touched her name on the screen. I saw light moving through her shoulders and down her spine. I saw the light inside my mind. I see the whole person and how the light goes different places in their body. [image error]It’s just there. It doesn’t move into them, just through them. It doesn’t take but a few seconds. 

I said, “Okay. I’m done.” 

She felt heat. She felt peace and thanked me. A few days later she could raise her arms. She could paint again. She could go swimming and was healed.  I said “Yay!  again. 

So long distance healing can be done.  That was my first long distance healing.  She painted me a picture and wrote on the back, “Given as a token of friendship to Mitch. My dear friend. My healer. I can’t  imagine my life with you not in it.” See images of the painting and salutation on the canvas back to the left.

Not A Healing 
Another time, something happened with my youngest daughter.  We were rollerblading at our apartment complex and weren’t really good at it. It was difficult to stop.  I said, “we’ll run into the grass to stop”.  
           
We turned a corner and were rolling  downhill. Keri began to head for a car parked in the carport. She was going so fast, she couldn’t change her path. She saw what was happening and froze on her rollerblade. She couldn’t move.  

[image error]Everything in me stilled, even though I was rolling. I surrounded her with energy. At the time it felt weird and time felt quiet. I asked God to surround and protect her. Keri jumped up into the air and spun around. She landed on the rollerblades and stopped.  
         
 I yelled, “How did you do that?  
         
She yelled back. “I don’t know!.” She didn’t get hurt. That wasn’t healing. Yet it was a miracle. 

Blood Clots Healed
[image error]The next long distance healing was my baby sister. She was in a hospital with blood clots. She called me and asked, “Can you do that healing thing you do over the phone?” 
    
 I said, “We can try.” 
         
“How long will it take?” 
          
“A few seconds. Maybe 3 to 4 seconds, not very long.” 
          
She said, “Okay.” 
          
“Okay,” I said and began to heal. As I watched, it started at the feet. The light went up her legs, around her lungs and shot up out of her head.  I said, “Okay. Done.” 
          
She was excited and said, “I felt it. It started at my toes and moved up and went into my head.  Why did you send it to my head.” 
         
“I didn’t. It goes where it wants to go. Maybe you had a clot starting there. I don’t know.” She felt it without me saying where it was going. 
          
She had blood clots in her lungs, she recovered and was healed
