I once asked a college class I was teaching to give me their biographies using one piece of paper, any way they wanted. I got back origami, paper airplanes, essays, crayola drawings and more - which made for some fun, instead of reading insipid, uninspired lists of facts.
My biography, using one piece of paper, would be a drawing of a tree, with roots reaching down through the darkest part of the earth toward its molten core, and branches straining toward the stars.
Birds, a few monkeys, a jaguar, and a million fireflies would populate the branches hung with all kinds of fruit and flowers. And it would be a big tree. Very big indeed.
Big as a soul.

What we refer to as a block is the moment when our ego jumps up and tells us we can't do it, we're too stupid, not skilled enough, etcetera. To me, the work itself is more important than my ego, and so I just follow the story all the way to the end. (less)

MAGIC OF THE BRIDGE

Small Bridge.  Big Magic

Lately everyone is yelling about walls, one way or another.  I’m not a fan of building giant walls to keep people out, though I am fond of other kinds of walls - the ones my house is made of are all good, for instance.   They keep us tucked in during the winter.   They shelter us.   And they have doors so other folks can join us in our shelter.
