New ink colors and cardstock from Gina K. Design

It’s always a treat when stamp companies release new ink and cardstock colors and today there are four fresh new shades in the Gina K. Designs collection! Say hello to Sunkissed Coral, Butterscotch, Blue Sky and Emerald Coast!

There are brand new cardstocks to match all of these colors, as well!

Plus, there is a new kit this month! I’m using the kit and two of the new ink and cardstock colors for my card projects today.

This month’s kit is called Friendly Wishes and look at ...

Don’t toss that card if you mess up! Cover up the mistake.

Today I’m sharing a pair of fun cards featuring the new release from Waffle Flower, and a reminder that if you mess up, you can find ways to save the card much of the time!

I’m using the Bookshelf Panel Die and Coloring Stencil (something my book-loving family will appreciate!) to make my cards today and this card, as you’ll see in the video, has an oops.

I got a bit too heavy handed with my blending and the ink slipped under the stencil on the lower left. The solution? Put a g...

Cathy Makes a Card: the giveaway post

Welcome to the blog post for this week’s livestream (January 1, 2025). If you’d like to win the card, leave a comment below and I’ll choose the winner a few days following the live.

Today’s card was a herculean effort, to say the least. But hey, it’s all part of the fun!

In the meantime, check out this livestream replay here:

It wasn’t the easiest, but… here’s how I finished it out. I changed the greeting so the fold wouldn’t affect it! I like this look a lot!

I think m...

Pick colors that are close enough for your next card project

Today I’m sharing a short and sweet video on how to take a color inspiration palette and match it as best you can for a lovely combo for any card project.

I like to use the Color Cube Vol. 1 to help me choose palettes for my cards, but I don’t always have the perfect inks to match the inspiration.

Still, it gives you a way to get close and create a harmonious scheme for your card. Check out this short video showing how my card came together:

I hope this inspires you to...

Oh, Shiitake! These cards are pretty cute! (New CZ Design)

Today I have a new release out from Simon Says Stamp, a 4 x 6 stamp set called Oh, Shiitake. This set was actually inspired by Simon Says Stamp customer and we loved the idea so I ran with it.

It’s just a light-hearted way to send a card that supports someone who might be struggling, but you can also send it as a celebratory card, as well. On this card below, I stamped the “You did it!” on the inside.

I think this is so playful and fun! You can purchase this as a stamp/die ...

Let’s unbox the latest kit from Simon Says Stamp and make five cards!

Today I’m unboxing the January 2025 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp called Get Yeti. This is a fun, winter-themed kit but also geared towards many occasions! Here is a look at what you get in this month’s kit:

Here’s my unboxing video and card makes:

Let’s take a closer look at the cards:

For Card One, I had to bust out the action wobbler in the kit to make this little guy move! The background is super neutral, and I did have to fussy cut, but… I think it turned out pretty ...

Concord & 9th Favorites of 2024!

The good folks at Concord & 9th asked a number of card makers to talk about their favorite thing from their shop for the past year and mine is too fold: The Just Calling Bundle of stamps and dies and the color Pink Lemonade!

For the background of this card, I used the Kristina Werner Layered Plaid Stencil Set and just two ink colors, Pink Lemonade and Watermelon. I used a panel of Pink Lemonade, card stock as my base for ink blending.

Even though I don’t have a video to share how t...

Using the Altenew Key Hole Die System for the first time (and LOVING it!)

Welcome to the blog hop for the December 2024 release from Altenew! This is my first Altenew hop and I’m so excited to be sharing the card I created because I have never used their fantastic Key Hole Die System and today’s card was my first time trying it out. I may be hooked!

I used the Crocus Layering Die Set, part of their Craft-a-Flower series, and the Key Holes made the assembly so seamless!

Plus having the accompanying guide is SO helpful. Here is my video showing how thi...
