What a Difference Five Years Makes.

I recently returned from the great “Left Coast Crime” conference in Los Angeles, where I engaged in a “first timers” panel. The writers were all recently published, and we talked about what we went through to get published. Sophie Littlefield, a debut author, friend, (and Edgar nominee!) commented on how many manuscripts it took her to be published. She had eight. The great reveal of new authors was on. I had three, and the two other authors one…

Putting Monogamy to the Test

The Chicago Literary Salon I’m willing to bet it’s a conversation we’ve all had over wine, dinner or, for those still in college, in dorm rooms: are humans meant to be monogamous? Someone trots out the example of the vast number of animals that are not monogamous, and someone else names the animals that are. (Maybe two? Swans? Penguins?)
