New Stuff 2021

For anyone who wants to keep up to date on The Eye of Mongombo and any other stuff I am working on, (although admittedly it is mostly Mongombo right now) I have a Patreon page here:

https://www.patreon.com/Mongombo

I am serializing Mongombo pages there, and currently I am about halfway through Chapter 5. I will be posting all the way through to the end of Chapter 8, then probably will take a short break. At that point I will have 2/3 of the story finished, including two full new chapters of material moving on from where the original series left off (I cut all but 2 pages from the original Chapter 7, which was, to put it mildly, a "train wreck"). I am also posting old stories and unseen work (like my many rejected comic strip submissions) so if that sounds like it's worth $3 a month, come check it out!

The Eye of Mongombo (reboot) #1 is Available now!

The Eye of Mongombo was my first original comic book, and it was first published 30 years ago. It was cancelled before the story was completed (a mutual decision between me and the publisher) I had always wanted to go back to it and complete the story, but I needed to do some heavy editing to the existing material first. I didn't want to cut too much of the old gags that people liked, but

Old Comics: Turtle Boy in "Cirque de Soulmates"

This is an old story from a mini-comic titled My Freakish Love that I did back around 2005. I still like it, although in the years since I learned there was an existing "Turtle Boy" character---a skateboard mascot I think. This was only intended as a one-shot story anyway, but if I ever use these characters again I can easily rename him Snake Boy or Gecko Boy or something.

The Eye of Mongombo #1 (of 3) is available now!

The first four chapters of the Mongombo reboot are available now in one 100-page paperback!

It's been a long time coming, but I am going to finish this thing! Hopefully I can sell a few of these while I work on the second book...

I am also planning on putting together an annotated collection of the original series, so you all can learn from my mistakes!

Please buy a copy and/or share

Some old Disney comics scripts...

From 2005-2009 I was working on Disney comics, something I hadn't done since the early 1990s. This time, though, I was able to work with the classic characters, not just the Disney Afternoon titles! At that time Disney comics were only being produced by the large publisher in Denmark, Egmont.

My body of work is pretty small compared to other Disney writers, so it's unlikely that many of my

(Relatively) New Stuff!

I've been a terrible Blogger, I admit it. I never pay enough attention, I'm easily distracted. Days become weeks, weeks become months...next thing you know years have gone by and I've forgotten all about you, my poor little blog. But not tonight. Tonight, we post!

A Christmas gift for a friend, totally ripping off Jim Flora's awesome album covers. Gouache on watercolor paper.

Some Cover Recreations

I like doing these pieces for inking practice...and I need lots of practice! I especially need to make myself do more hand-lettering. Redrawing old comic book covers is a lot of fun, and I'm usually more inclined to finish. When I screw up an original practice drawing, chances are good I'll never finish it.

A Monster Birthday

I recently made a new E-Card for Birthday Alarm; I thought I would link to it here, given the Halloween theme. I hope you enjoy it!

Darkwing Duck: "Cat in a Hot Tin Suit" revisited

I posted the original, printed version of this story in an earlier post...for comparisons, you can read that story here.

This "Director's Cut" restores cut sight gags and missing panels...which especially helps scenes like the one on page 15, where Fluffy hits Darkwing with rockets, and DW responds, "That's a felony, mister!" Originally, Fluffy was to blow up a mailbox with those rockets,
