A creative space for the performance of radically new interpretations of Black girls' lived experiences
This volume examines how Saving Our Lives Hear Our Truths, or SOLHOT, a radical youth intervention, provides a space for the creative performance and expression of Black girlhood and how this creativity informs other realizations about Black girlhood and womanhood."This impressive and refreshing book explores the creative potential of Black girlhood and offers a variety of options for ways to engage Black girls and work with them to become the very best of who they are destined to be. Jackie Robinson's Last Public Appearance: October 15, 1972 (World Series Game Two)

I watched these final moments of Jackie Robinson's public life with my dad; When Robinson died nine days later, my dad made sure I fully understood his significance, to not only baseball, but as a Black man trying to navigate the realities of an American life.  We had similar conversations a year later as Hank Aaron chased down Babe Ruth's 714--the two-homer game that Aaron had against the Mets during the summer of 1973, with my dad and I in the stands at Shea Stadium,  remains one of my most cherished moments with him. And yet more conversation in 1975, when another Robinson--Frank--fulfilled Jack Robinson's dream-deferred, by becoming Major League Baseball first Black manager. --Mark Anthony Neal
