Funny Old Sayings
Have you ever wondered about the funny old sayings people use? Why do we say them and how did they become part of the English language?
I'm fascinated by them and love coming across new ones. It's great fun finding out the history behind them.
One of my favourite sayings is "Sleep tight, night night." Did you know that during Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured onto bed frames by ropes. In order to make the bed firmer and more comfortable, one had to pull the ropes to tighten the mattress.
