New Title: The Nine Muses (Coming Soon)
      Hi everyone,
I have been working on a fun new project that I wanted to share with you all. The story will be based on Greek mythology. The release date is soonish (October 16th). Check out what I am working on below 😊
Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a great day!

They say Muses inspire the greatest of artists, artisans, thinkers, and poets, but what inspires them?
The nine daughters of Zeus are struggling with their talents, so their father orders them to go to a mortal high school. The muses are not amused at being sent to the mortal realm to find inspiration. Thalia, the muse of Comedy, proclaims that ‘High school is where creativity goes to die’. Her sisters agree, but is she right?
Will Zeus’s experiment work? Will the visit spark his daughters’ interest and inspire them to do their best, or will this be the end of creativity, as we know it?
The humans will meet the Muses for the first time. Perhaps the greater question is: Can the mortals survive the nine feisty daughters of Zeus? Or will they fall victim to their mischief?
Don’t miss this fun new release!

Release date: October 16th, 2021
(*I will put the universal link when I have it)

Mini-Break
      Hi everyone,
Sorry for not posting last week. I am taking a mini-break to recharge my creative side. I have taken on a lot these past few weeks, especially in terms of marketing, and taking courses on writing and editing, and the summer heat wave has been unrelenting, so I decided to take some time off from blogging. I hope you understand!
I want to set a deadline of September for the sequel of Divine Error. I am continuing to research for my new undertaking; a dystopian version of ice queen. The audiobooks for both, The Stone Mermaid, and, Sleeping Beauty no more, are under production.
If you haven’t grabbed a copy, Sleeping Beauty no more is on a price promotion for only $0.99. If you have read the book, I would greatly appreciate if you can leave a review. Here is the link: http://www.books2read.com/SBNM
Thank you for reading. I am looking forward to when I can share more about my upcoming projects/book releases and get back to regular blogging.
Take care! 😊

Brainstorming
The word ‘Brainstorming’ is an apt word, because it really feels like a storm is brewing in my brain, lol. So I am thinking about my newest project (and trying not to melt in the heat or overheat my thinking box 😆).
As you know, my new book will be a ice queen retelling in an dystopian setting. For the first part, I am researching the original fairytale. There is an interesting backstory about how the writer came up with the character… which gave me a idea for a scene in my book (yay!).
As for the dystopian setting, I am a little stumped. This is a new writing territory for me (and a little out of my comfort zone). But that is good, yes? How can I learn if I don’t push myself creatively?
I loved the Hunger games, and the complex, intriguing setting of the different districts. For my book, I am thinking of two distinct factions/groups/tribes and the rest caught up in their war. I have a tragic, origin story in place of how the divide/animosity started. I just hope it will be a revelation/shock to my readers when they reach that point in the story.
So much plotting! 😁
I am also working (or trying very hard to) on the sequel for Divine Error. The heat is really messing with my writing. Normally, I dedicate 1 to 2 hours in a day for writing. Nowadays, I am lucky if I can manage 15 minutes. The weather is set to cool starting tonight. It is hard when I want to write, but can’t. I feel like I will burst, lol.
On other less distressing news, the audiobook for The Stone Mermaid is under production. The narrator is working diligently on the project, and I can’t wait for you to hear the final product.
That is it for today. I pray for better weather, and for you to have a great day. Thank you for reading!

Animated movie: My Neighbor, Totoro
For this edition of things you might not have seen, I will talk about the animated movie, My Neighbor, Totoro, directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli.

The move is set in 1950s Japan, where a university professor and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, move into an old house. We learn that the girls’ mother, Yasuko, is being treated for an illness in an hospital. The story is about the two girls, as they discover and explore their new surroundings. Satsuki and Mei first find small, dark, dust-like house spirits in their new home. The soot spirits soon leave to find another empty house.
The movie is filled with child-like wonder and curiosity. The strength of the movie is not so much as what happens to move the story forward, but rather the realistic portrayal of the two sisters’ relationship. There are sibling squabbles, tears and frustration, as the two young girls try to deal with an ailing mother, and a distracted father.
Perhaps the most captivating moment in the movie is meeting the enigmatic creature called Totoro. Totoro represents an escape from their troubled reality. Eventually, the girls’ mother returns home well, and the sisters return back to a normal life. They play with other children, while Totoro and his friends watch them from a distance.
This is a whimsical, imaginative movie, but also a contemplative one. The movie’s main message is that when life becomes too much, nature, and perhaps even our imagination, can soothe our souls and give us the relief we need.
I hope that you liked today’s blog post. Thank you for reading 😊

Summer heat and writing
      Hi everyone,
I hope that you are managing well in this heat (it has been quite warm up here in Toronto). I have been taking a break from writing after releasing my newest book, Sleeping Beauty no more, but I have been busy in other ways.
I am still learning about writing and marketing, so I signed up for a few online seminars. The latest one I attended was yesterday by a NYT best selling author. The author shared some interesting insights about how to write a bestseller, but one thing he said resonated a lot. He said that in order to shave off years from your learning curve, you must find yourself a mentor in your field. I think that is a great piece of advice in any career.
The other thing he said was about the role of setup and payoffs within the story. I feel that intuitively I have been including a lot of the things he said in his presentation, which was a relief. My main takeaway from his talk was about editing ruthlessly and giving the novel time to rest before looking at it again.
I wanted to do a blog post about an animated movie today, but my brain refuse to cooperate in this heat, lol. I also have been reading a lot, which I desperately needed after writing on a strict schedule for months. My mind needs to wander in new worlds. I finished the Red Queen series and enjoyed it a lot.
My mind is still ruminating over a new book idea. Namely, a ice queen retelling in an dystopian world. I haven’t written anything like that before, so I am still brainstorming. I think the term is world building? It will be more complex than the setups I had in my previous novels. I will take my time with this one, but like I mentioned in my previous post, I already made the cover and selected the title.
I sense a pattern in how I start a new project, and for me, it tends to be a certain theme I want to explore. For my first book, My Dear Ellie, it was friendship. For Divine Error, it was a career crisis . For the Stone Mermaid, it was forbidden love. And the newest one brewing in my mind, a dystopian world. We will see how it pans out. Usually, even I don’t know the final outcome.
The weather is forecasted to be cooler next week, so hopefully I will write the blog post as I planned. I hope that you are staying cool (or warm, depending on your part of the world).
Take care 😊

Planning New Projects
      Hi everyone,
As you know, my newest fantasy romance, Sleeping Beauty no more, released on 17th July. What you might not know, the time it takes me to recover from the intense writing schedule (and emotional rollercoaster) of each new book release 😆
I think that two full length novels, and a novella, is a respectable number of writing projects in a year (though I know some authors that can write twice as much 😬)
But I think that for my sanity, and in order not to burn out, I will not be setting strict deadlines for new projects, even if deadlines help me write faster. I will release them as I complete them (and let you know, of course!)
So, what do I have planned?
I will finally work on the sequel for Divine Error. For those who were waiting, I apologize for the delay. I know I said I would work on the novella at the start of the year, but I got distracted writing, The Stone Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty no more. (I am immensely grateful for the sudden inspiration. I enjoyed writing them both.)
I just chose a narrator for The Stone Mermaid. If all goes well, the audiobook will release sometime in October. I am excited 😃 the narrator did a fantastic audition and has a great voice!
The other project that is in progress is the final book of the love and friendship trilogy, Ellie’s Fate 😭 I can’t wait to write the conclusion of Ellie’s and Cassie’s story. The two characters have become so dear to me.
I have another fantasy book planned in the fantasy romance series. I have a theme I want to explore (and already a cover and title 😆), but the plot is very fuzzy right now. It will be a Ice Queen retelling in a dystopian setting. I hope to push my writing abilities in this project.
Thank you for being a part of my writing journey. I hope that you have a great day today!
Best wishes 😊

Movie: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
For this edition of things you might not have seen, I thought I would highlight a great movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
If you could live a great life, what would it look like?
Walter Mitty daydreams; his imagination taking him to fantastical locations, and placing him in the centre of heart-pounding adventures. It is where he lives out the extraordinary in his ordinary life.
Walter is a negative assets manager at Life magazine. His love life consists of a crush on his coworker, Cheryl, and an incomplete eHarmony account. The highlight of Mitty’s career is working with legendary photojournalist Sean O’Connell, although they haven’t met in person.
The photojournalist sends Mitty his latest negatives, and a wallet, as a gift in appreciation of working with him. O’Connell believes his negative #25 captures the “quintessence of Life”. He thinks it should be used for the cover of the magazine’s final print issue, but the problem is that the negative is missing. Walter stalls for time with his manager, who is also handling the downsizing. Looking at the other three negatives for clues, Mitty sets on a quest to find the photojournalist himself to ask him for the missing negative.
What Walter finds next is an adventure to rival his daydreams: flying off to Greenland, jumping off in shark-infested waters, escaping from a volcano eruption, and confessing his feelings to his long time crush.
Walter’s adventures land him back home, without the negative, or the photojournalist he went searching for. His manager promptly fires him, and things get even worse for Walter, when he hears that Cheryl got back with her estranged husband.
Walter haven’t given up on finding the lost negative. The final clue takes Walter to the Himalayas, where he finally locates O’Connell photographing a rare snow leopard. When Walter asks him about the negative, O’Connell explains that the negative was in the wallet he send him, but Walter threw away the wallet. This realization causes him to lose all hope of ever finding it.
While helping his mother sell her piano, Walter tells her his story. His mother gives him the wallet, which she retrieved from the trash. He delivers the found negative to Life magazine, telling management that it was the photograph O’Connell wanted for the final issue.
Soft-spoken, and once timid, Walter berates his former manager for disrespecting the staff that helped the magazine reach where it was, before walking away from the office.
Walter reunites with Cheryl, when he learns that she didn’t get back with her husband and that it had been a misunderstanding. He tells Cheryl of his adventures and admits that he does not know what negative #25 shows. Walter and Cheryl see the final issue of Life at a newsstand, which is a picture of Walter himself, sitting outside of the Life building, examining a contact sheet.
If you could live a great life, what would it look like?
What is stopping you from living it?
I hope that you enjoyed today’s blog post. Thank you for reading!

One week remaining: new Fantasy romance book
      Hi everyone!
Sorry for being missing this week. I was going through some side effects of my second covid vaccine shot (chills, ache, fever 🤕). I am better now, so I thought I give you an update on my newest upcoming Fantasy romance book.
Sleeping Beauty no more will release in a week on July 17th, 2021. The paperback and hardcover book are available now 🥳
I spend some time formatting the covers this week, so that kept me busy too.
What do you think? 😍

My book is a retake on the classic fairytale. I hope that you consider it for your next read.
I will go back to my blogging schedule next week. Sorry again for the unexpected delay (and short blog) for this week.

Writer's life: Marketing efforts (continued)
If you have been following my blog, you know that I share the good and, er, not-so-good aspects of being an Indie author. You might remember that my last marketing effort wasn’t successful.
But like any worthwhile endeavor, be it writing, business, or career, persistence is key. That, and quickly forgetting about past failures 😆 Optimism amnesia, it is!
So, was I successful in my latest effort?
Maybe 😬
Depends on what I look at.
I used paid newsletters (again), combined with a discounted book. If you didn’t know, on Amazon the royalty rate for a book below $1 is only 35% (or 33 cents). It is slightly better at other retailers (maybe 60 or 70 cents).
Why would I list a normally $4.99 book to less than $1? (What is this madness, you might say) I want to reach readers who will give my book a chance at the lower price point. The hope is that they will like my writing enough to give my other books a chance, too.
How did I do?
I will start with the good.
I got a shiny new #1 Bestseller banner on Amazon (that I will etch eternally in my mind, remembering it fondly during the harder days as a writer).
The other good: reaching international readers in Australia, New Zealand, UK 🥰
The not so good: The expensive pricetag 😭
I made back 18% of what I spend (so far). I remind myself that being an Indie author is a looooong commitment. The adage is: It is a marathon, not a sprint.
The sale is still ongoing for a few more days, if you like to grab a copy of Eleanor’s Travels for only $0.99: http://books2read.com/ELT
In other news, I am currently running along to release my latest fantasy romance book, Sleeping Beauty No More on July 17th, 2021.
Thank you for reading today’s blog. I hope that you have a great day! 😊
