Indie April: Emma and the Minotaur
Here is another great book for Indie April: Emma and the Minotaur (World of Light Book 1) by Jon Herrera.
This is a middle-grade fantasy with beautiful imagery and story. (I think there is a new cover now, but this is the version I have.)
What is it about? Here is the blurb:
Emma Wilkins must face the monster in the woods for the fate of the world. An invasion is coming. Deep in the shadows of Glenridge Forest, creatures of myth and legend are returning. They gather and wait for a day soon to come. A day when they will be unleashed upon the planet.
Daydreamer Emma Wilkins is eleven years old and lives on Belle Street in the city of Saint Martin. All Emma wants is a friend. She finds one in Jake Milligan, a new boy in town whose father has gone missing. Together, they embark on a mission to find him. During her adventure, Emma discovers that all stories are true. All legends are real. The monsters of nightmare exist.
She learns about a power greater still, one who watches and waits, preparing for the day when the world is ready for his return. On her way to an impossible confrontation, Emma must conquer her fears and learn how to defeat the monster in the woods. At stake are the fates of those she cares about most and that of the entire world.
I hope that I enticed you to give this great story a read.
Remember to support a Indie author this Indie April (and share your love with everyone! 😀)
Thank you for reading!

Indie April: What are friends for?
You might be wondering: What is indie April?
It is a wonderful time of year where we highlight indie (or independently/self-published) authors. My author journey started when a few kind (and brave) souls took a chance at my writing, and every April I hope to pay it forward.
Today’s featured Indie book is What are friends for? By Sarah Sutton.
What is the book about? Here’s a sneak peek:
FALLING IN LOVE ISN’T COMPLICATED…UNLESS IT’S WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND. I’ve got a problem.
A big one. It involves a blindfolded kissing game at a party. I was supposed to be kissing my crush, Jeremy, the totally hot baseball player I’ve been crushing on. And the kiss…it’s amazing. Makes me forget all about my overbearing mother, my next-door neighbor’s drama, and the probability of failing my senior year.
But that’s not the big problem. The big problem is that once my blindfold falls off, I realize that heart-stopping, toe-curling, world-changing kiss wasn’t with my crush. It was with Elijah Greybeck, my best friend since the third grade. And even once I realize it’s him, why… why do I want to keep kissing him?
Book one of the Love in Fenton County standalone series, What Are Friends For?, is a swoon-worthy friends to lovers story that will leave you crushing hard.
This is a sweet romance book that will leave you with a warm, happy feeling. Both the main characters are adorable and there are no bad guys/gals, just characters who make bad choices (and then realize it and make amends). I hope you give this cute story a chance.
Be sure to pick up a Indie book for your next read (my books included 😁)
Thank you for reading!

New comedy novella: Divine Terror
I am excited to tell you about my latest book, Divine Terror. This is the second book in the Divine Error series (a dark comedy; urban fantasy comedy).
I meant to complete it six months ago, but got sidetracked by other projects. For those who waited, it is finally here!
Here is the blurb:
Damon and Saynt are back on Earth again, this time for another tough assignment. They are calling the human a ‘divine terror’. Who is the new human, terrorizing angels and demons alike?
Now that Damon and Saynt are working for different and opposite realms, can they still work together? Or will their new roles cause strife in their friendship?
The story continues in Divine Terror. Expect more fun, loveable, quirky characters; a handsome adversary, and the return of Mr. Whiskers!
The book releases today March 14th, 2022 at Books2read.com/DTE
I am excited!

Get your favorite books 📚
I love libraries ❤
I love that they are such a wonderful resource for both readers and for indie authors.
You can play an important part in supporting your favorite indie authors. Here's how:
Recommend a Book to your Library on Overdrive
Step 1: Download the Overdrive app. Open the app and tap on the upper left-hand corner to access your library.
Step 2: When you reach your library’s Overdrive page, you can use the search bar to type in the title of the book you want. e.g. The Stone Mermaid by Aisha Urooj
Step 3: The search results will show similarly named books. Keep scrolling until you find your indie book/author.
Step 4: Hit the word “Recommend” to ask your library to buy a copy. You can do this for both ebooks and paperback format (if available).
Step 5: You are done! You just recommended the book (and made an author very happy). When and if the library gets it, you’ll receive an email.
Recommend the books of your favorite indie authors to your libraries and librarians, and help support them in their writing career!
Here is a helpful link with more details: Overdrive Help

Animated film: Encanto
It has been a while, but for this edition of Things You Might Not Have Seen, I will talk about Bruno… I mean, talk about the animated film, Encanto. 😁
My emotions are a bit high as I just finished watching this beautiful film. The colors, the music, the Madrigals family were all enchanting.
Encanto is about an extraordinary family with amazing gifts. The Madrigals family are the heart of their village. In fact, the village was created through the magic and sacrifice of Abuela Madrigals. On the most tragic night of her life, she found a special magical candle as a gift, which she shares with her family and her village.
In terms of the gifts, they are all unexpected: Having super strength, controlling the weather, seeing the future, having super hearing, talking to animals, shape-shifting, making flowers bloom, healing through food (yum!) plus the bonus of a magical fun house they live in. You can guess which family members have which abilities (no spoilers from me).
The songs are so fun. I especially liked “We don’t talk about Bruno” and “Surface pressure.”
So, what is the film about? The pressure to be perfect, when we are literally imperfect beings. (Why do we humans do this?)
The Madrigals family live in fear that they would let down others and lose their gifts, so they keep doing more. They can’t say no to any request, any proposal, even if they feel they are wearing themselves out under the constant pressure.
The pressure to be perfect literally causes cracks to appear in their home, until it all falls apart. Care and love, as well as remembering what was most important saves them, as it can save us, from tearing ourselves apart.
I love that Encanto is about the strength of a loving and supportive family. That it shows us how vulnerable and fragile we are without love and acceptance, be it from others, or ourselves. That without love and support, even the strongest person can feel weak, the prettiest can feel insecure, or the person with the most foresight, can feel lost.
In case no one told you, you are enough. Seriously, if someone makes you doubt yourself, just tell them, “Aisha told me that I am enough.”
Because you are ❤

New Year, New Goals
2021 was... something. I hope you made the most of a tough year (it was for me). This year, I hope is better and healthier for all of us. To start off 2022, I set a few writing goals for myself.
I will release 3 books this year. I am excited, nervous, both at the same time... but challenges are good. (Right? 😅)
Here is a brief summary of what I have planned:
Ellie’s Fate
This will be the final book of the trilogy about two best friends, Ellie and Cassie. I feel a bit emotional as My Dear Ellie was my debut novel. Release around June. Preorder is available here: Books2read.com/EF
Queen of Frost and Ice
A dystopian, snow queen retelling. I am excited about this one. It will be a cross between Snow queen and a dystopian novel like Hunger games, Divergent, Red Queen series etc. Release around September. Preorder is available here: Mybook.to/QoFI
Prequel to The Stone Mermaid
I have the title and cover ready, but I will reveal it closer to release date (suspense!).
Hint about the cover: 🐙🔱🧜♀️
This will be the prequel to my mermaid novel, focusing on the ancient war. More Ursula, Vladimir, Siren Queen, and Brutus!
Release date: sometime in 2022 😁
