C S Alleyne grew up in Australia and originally trained as a hotel manager in the UK. After several postings in the Caribbean she changed tack and completed her MBA followed several years later by a PhD in Information Systems. She is a management consultant and also lectures in several universities.

With a lifelong love of reading, anything historical and a fascination with the supernatural and death, her vacations usually include visits to such places as the Pere La Chaise cemetery and the catacombs in Paris, the tombs in Egypt, the Popes’ crypts in the Vatican and any church yard with gravestones – you get the picture…

I have completed most of the research - set in America in the 1860s and the present day (this series uses 2 time lines) and planning a lot of twists and turns!.

I enjoyed writing the short story too (which I hadn't done before) so am also working on another which is set in Texas circa 1950s. That is more an experiment to see whether I can capture the time and essence of that period as well as the horror of the outcome!(less)

I love the Victorian era and so started to write about a female character who had had a lot of bad luck but wanted to change her circumstances.

The growth of photography was also prevalent at the time (late 1850s) as was the demand for smutty pictures so I added a couple of characters and mixed the two. I noticed how it was the men who held all the cards and the main character, Maude, was essentially powerless (as were most other women of her time).

But then I thought what if the tables were turned, and so the story took a different direction - one that needs a strong stomach...(less)
