Making the Move to Kindle Unlimited
Real quick, I wanted to let you know that I’m moving my books into Kindle Unlimited. All of them.
Please pray for me.
Seriously, I’m a little terrified of this because I rely on my book sales as part of my income and I don’t want to mess that up. However, I’ve come to understand that there are a lot of readers out there who can’t pay for their KU membership AND buy books, so if they have to choose, they won’t buy my books.
If you’re in that KU-only boat, I hope this means you’ll consider reading my books now. All of them?
I’m currently “delisting” the books at the other stores and don’t know how long that process will take. I’ll send another email announcing availability once they’re all tucked into KU. By the way, this means The Aliens’ Mate will be KU only upon release.
If I’m going to lose you because you don’t shop Amazon, I really do apologize and I also understand. If I can improve on my income by moving to Kindle Unlimited, I feel that I have to try.
As of now, the books are delisted from the major stores. I’m waiting on the subscription services and libraries now. I’ll write a new post when everything goes into Kindle Unlimited.

Preorder The Aliens’ Mate
I wrote a book in 3 months! I can barely believe it, but this book absolutely flowed out of me. I’ve never had that happen before, but I hope it means this is one heck of an awesome read.
The Aliens' MateLuc Martin was abducted by aliens over a month ago and has been stuck in a cage on a spaceship with three women ever since. On either side of their cell are two alien prisoners who both seem to have a thing to staring at Luc. Oh and everyone’s naked.
Then comes the moment when escape is possible, and Luc makes the decision to free Bolaico and Teranu in the hopes that they know how to do more than he does. And boy do they! A fight through the ship, stealing a shuttle, and crash landing on a strange planet get the group of five away from their abductors…but now what?
Following through on the idea that Luc could be the aliens’ thank you gift for all their help sees him giving into desires up in a tree and in a hot springs pool inside a cave. As time passes, and despite a language barrier with both aliens, Luc discovers he’s begun to care about his aliens. But do they feel the same?
When their captors track them down and force a confrontation that includes the native population on this planet, their futures will be decided by the choices that they make. When Luc’s aliens have the chance to return to their lives, where does he fit in?

The Quarterback’s Dragon
I couldn’t resist writing about what happened after the dragon in The Incubus’s Mate left the club.
Here’s the official description:
Ashton Lazarus is a college quarterback getting an economics degree and wondering what in the world is going on with his best friend and neighbor. Dyre Tranum has been missing classes, skipping study sessions, going out every night, and refusing to talk to Ash about why he’s acting so differently. Aside from the worry that something’s wrong with his friend, Ash is also upset that Dyre won’t trust him to help.
When Dyre calls Ash for a ride in the middle of the night, Ash jumps at the chance to assist. He’s desperate not to lose his friend, the man he’s secretly loved since the day he met him. But even picking Dyre up near an alley as a blizzard barrels down on them doesn’t have Dyre opening up to Ash.
Only when Ash overhears Dyre talking to his father about assaulting a guy in a club and needing a tranquilizer does Ash find his breaking point. He’s not going to let Dyre go through whatever this is alone, even if he has to force the truth out of him.
But Ash never imagined Dyre’s problems might be because he’s not human and is desperate to find his mate. Is this Ash’s chance to finally tell his best friend that he loves him? Even if it changes the rest of Ash’s life?
This 9,000-word/22-page short story where a college student learns about the supernatural, dragons go into heat, and virgins lose their virginity in every way possible. It can be read before or after The Incubus’s Mate and could be considered a standalone book.
This story is available FREE to my mailing list subscribers, though I may bundle it and any other short stories for sale sometime down the road.

Book Birthday: The Incubus’s Mate
I admit to being a little unsure this book would happen after the delay earlier this year. I’m told it sometimes happens, that author’s lose their way with a story, and that definitely happened to me. But I was able to rethink who these characters are and what their story needed to be to fit into the brand of sweet and steamy paranormal romances that I’m becoming known for. That process took a few months, but I believe the book is better for the delay. I hope you’ll agree!
Edgar Van Helsing is a monster hunter. Well, okay, technically he’s a twenty-something tree farmer with a monster fetish. His family thinks he’s in Cleveland in January on vacation, but he’s really here to see if he can find the location of a club he’s seen in online videos. Videos showing monsters having wild sex with humans. Edgar wants to be one of those lucky guys.
When he finds The Menagerie, Edgar is thrilled to see all kinds of costumed people drinking and dancing. Werewolves, vampires, demons, and…a dragon? The last one is way too aggressive when propositioning Edgar, but he’s saved by a small yet fierce guy with wings. Escorted into a private room, Edgar then finds himself getting the sexual fantasy he’s been longing for with the demonic-looking Sai Patel.
Edgar goes home with Sai during a snowstorm for even more fun, only to discover the city’s been locked down by a snow emergency in the morning. Not that being trapped with Sai is a hardship, even if his cupboards are bare and they have to trade doing manual labor for food from Sai’s neighbors. They’re getting to know each other, growing closer, and Edgar starts to hope the snow never stops falling.
But when Edgar suddenly discovers that Sai wasn’t wearing a costume and learns that no one else at the club was either, he has to come to terms with the fact that monsters are real. The sweetest man he’s ever known is a supernatural being, but does that really matter? Now Edgar has to decide if he wants to go back to his simple life on the family farm or let himself fall in love with an incubus.

Space Aliens are Aliens
When I first titled this book The Space Alien’s Mate, I think I meant to make sure people knew the story would take place in outer space. That fact makes it unique to my books, which all take place on Earth, so I’m pretty sure I wanted to make that distinction clear.
But I don’t feel that way anymore. Space aliens are aliens, and I think we all know where they spend a lot of their time. So the new title of the book is The Alien’s Mate.
I’ve also added a little silhouette of poor Lucius getting beamed up into Frisk’s spaceship—bum first, of course, because there will be probing in Luc’s future.
And here’s a little description of what you can look forward to:
This book features a barely legal guy abducted by aliens, the discovery of a medical kink, a frustrating language barrier, and lots of sexual experimentation with a guaranteed HEA.

Pre-Order The Incubus’s Mate
At long last, The Incubus’s Mate is finally available for pre-order!
I’d like to thank all my readers for their patience as I rewrote this book in order to make it the best little love story that it could be. Seriously, thank you!

Delaying The Incubus’s Mate
I really hate to have to do this, but after getting feedback from some trusted sources, I must delay the release of The Incubus’s Mate while I rewrite the vast majority of the book.
What Happened?
I had a feeling something was wrong with this book when I was so easily able to leave it and write something else (The Dentist’s Vampire companion short). But I’ve learned that getting frustrated or fed up with a story I’m writing is part of the cycle I go through during my writing process. I thought it was normal, so I pushed onward. I knew I had people who would readily and happily help me fix any problems and shine the story up so it would be ready for release.
But when I sent them the book in its current state, neither person thought it was good enough to publish.
What’s Wrong?
As it exists now, The Incubus’s Mate doesn’t feel like a book you’d expect from Delaney Rain. I know what I write is fluffy, cute, funny, definitely steamy at times, and low angst. The characters are isolated, get to know each other quickly, and the human half of the couple tells the story.
The Incubus’s Mate is none of that.
I didn’t set out to experiment or change things up, but I definitely should’ve recognized what I was doing as being off-brand for me.
What Happens Now?
Well, once the panic dissipated, I asked a great group of authors on Facebook how to handle canceling a book. They helped me to understand that this is a delay instead of a cancelation, as well as advising me on how to break the news to you. Step one, done.
I’ve also managed to come up with a new idea for the book, one that will be more on-brand for me and more appropriate for my characters. I’m actually feeling really motivated by these new ideas, which tells me I’m on the right track now. Yay!
Thanks for your Patience
I do apologize for this delay. It’s definitely not something I ever thought I’d have to do. But I can’t put out a book that isn’t the best it can be, so I hope you’ll stick with me as I make these necessary changes. My goal is to have a new The Incubus’s Mate ready for a fall release.

The Dentist’s Vampire
I couldn’t resist writing about how two of the secondary characters from the forthcoming The Incubus’s Mate met and fell for each other.
Here’s the official description:
If something doesn’t change soon, Josh Royce going to lose the solo dental practice he’s worked so hard to establish. He needs patients, but the locals don’t seem interested despite everything he’s tried to draw them in.
Then one night, he discovers a man who’s been attacked by thugs. Since Victor’s lost a tooth in the scuffle, Josh is confident he can help. But then Josh realizes the tooth is a fang and Victor believes he’s a vampire.
Josh also discovers a fetish for being bitten during sex and a talent for working with supernatural patients.
Could being a dentist to monsters save his practice and bring him the forever love he’s been longing for?
This 17,000-word/65-page short story where a dentist learns about the supernatural, vampires bite during sexy times, and all kinds of monsters need dental work. It can be read before or after The Incubus’s Mate and could be considered a standalone book.
This story is available FREE to my mailing list subscribers, though I may bundle it and any other short stories for sale sometime down the road.
