What is leadership>>??
LeadershipThe majority party members and the minority party members meet separately to select their leaders. Third parties rarely have had enough members to elect their own leadership, and independents will generally join one of the larger party organizations to receive committee assignments. A party caucus or conference is the name given to a meeting of or organization of all party members in the House. During these meetings, party members discuss matters of concern.Learn more about the history of House leadership.Speaker of the HouseRep. Paul D. RyanElected by the whole of the House of Representatives, the Speaker acts as leader of the House and combines several roles: the institutional role of presiding officer and administrative head of the House, the role of leader of the majority party in the House, and the representative role of an elected member of the House. US overtakes Chinese supercomputer to take top spot for fastest in the world
ByAstroJanePosted on November 13, 2018
After a semi-annual assessment measuring supercomputer computational speeds, US-built IBM machine “Summit” has toppled two Chinese competitors to take the lead as the fastest of its kind in the world. China’s Tianhe-2 and Sunway TaihuLight spent the last two years at the top of the SuperComputer TOP500 List, but this month Summit pulled ahead of both with a performance of 143.5 quadrillion operations per second, making it 65% more powerful than the next non-US supercomputer on the list. Out of the top ten machines ranked, five are in the United States. The TOP500 project was established in 1993 to track and rank meaningful statistics for organizations to use in determining their needs with regard to high-performance computing (HPC). The benchmark test used to determine the rankings is called “Linpack”, which requires HPC systems to solve a specific set of linear equations using floating point arithmetic. To help quantify just how powerful the machines in the HPC category are, Summit is 1 million times more powerful than the fastest laptop with 250 petabytes of storage capacity. Salmon Farm Research Reveals Alarming Effects on BC’s Ecosystem
Vancouver, BC, August 22nd, 2018 – For the past two months Sea Shepherd’s research vessel the R/V Martin Sheen has ventured to every salmon farm on the Fraser sockeye salmon migration route between Vancouver and Alert Bay with Canadian scientists on board, collecting samples to determine the impact of salmon farms on wild fish populations. One of the scientists is independent biologist Alexandra Morton, who has been investigating the link between open-net fish farms, sea lice, viruses, and the decline of wild salmon populations for three decades.Morton has collected farm salmon tissue and feces from the waters adjacent to approximately half of British Columbia’s open-net salmon farms. This is part of her ongoing research into the spread of farm salmon viruses into wild salmon habitat.“I have results from the first five farms sampled this summer, all from the Discovery Islands,” reports Alexandra Morton, “100 percent were positive for piscine orthoreovirus,”

Are we racing towards Earth’s ‘Hothouse’ tipping point?
Recently, myself and academic colleagues published an analysis exploring the risk of biophysical systems that regulate the state of the planet, crossing critical tipping points. This is important because it could push the planet away from the stable state it has been in since the last Ice Age some 12,000 years ago. This research effort was a daunting and complex task. Since the advent of the Anthropocene and the great acceleration of human environmental pressures on Earth, the scientific community is now forced, for the first time, to seek answers to the following existential question - are we as humanity now in a position to destabilize the entire Earth system? The research we just published is an attempt to address this question, by summarizing our current knowledge, setting the stage for further science, and presenting additional scientific support for urgent climate action. And, despite complexity and uncertainty, we already know quite a lot. We know that Earth, for the last 1.2 million years, has naturally fluctuated 6-8 times, between Ice Ages lasting 100,000 years and warmer inter-glacial periods, similar to the one we have today. These are the only two natural stable states of our planet in this time.We also know that we humans have increased the temperature on Earth by a global average of 1 degree Celsius (1.8°F), due to burning of fossil fuels, polluting air, and degrading forests and ecosystems. To those who march today:::
Stay strong.
Take care of each other. Know that in the frequency of your united energies, you are a force more powerful than can be measured. They know this. You have united because of your frustration, but you must also unite in LOVE if you truly want changes. In SCIENCE the frequency of love and compassion is higher than the frequency of hate and fear. Stay focused, don't give into chaos. Remember:: Many of the police are parents, help them remember to have empathy.Stay vigilant, watch out for each other. What you say and what you do matters.I don't know how any mother can turn away from this and not do something to help you. For the ones who choose apathy I will personally curse their existence. We are all responsible for this, we are all responsible for changing it. Unite for change, break the divisions between us, black white, rich, poor. It is time to close the gap.In Peace, Love is with you.Lare'va
