As we write this, many “first world” countries are in lockdown due to COVID-19.

Millions in the developing world have lived daily for decades with the fear of losing loved ones to disease (or hunger, or conflict) but this is not something wealthy nations are used to experiencing at once – and at all socio-economic levels – as we are witnessing now.

There is a lot of fear and overwhelm, and understandably so.

We are also seeing an emerging thirst for change. Our electronic connectedness and access to information is, in our confinement, beginning to translate into wider human connection and the development of ideas. There is a growing awareness that the response to this crisis must not shore up the life-destroying structures that have failed.

The UN’s environment chief has called COVID-19 “a clear warning shot” from nature, explaining that pandemics could become more frequent if we return to destructive business-as-usual, because exploitation and destruction of natural habitats and ecosystems upset nature’s balance.

Indeed, the climate and ecological crisis already unfolding is the direct result of such disturbance and damage – ECOCIDE – sustained over decades.

Ecocide Law – A Powerful Offering:

At moments like this, the previously politically impossible can become possible. As political writer Naomi Klein and other health and environmental experts highlight, that can cut both ways: towards increased control of citizens and deregulation of industry, or towards greater responsibility and support for people and planet.

Ecocide law is thus a powerful offering right now – an essential part of the discussion on how NOT to return to destructive business-as-usual.

Mientras escribimos esto, muchos países del “primer mundo” están en confinamiento debido al COVID-19.

Durante décadas, millones de personas en los países en vías de desarrollo han estado viviendo diariamente con el miedo a perder a sus seres queridos a causa de las enfermedades (o el hambre o los conflictos armados) pero esto no es algo a lo que los países ricos estén acostumbrados a experimentar de golpe – y en todos los niveles socioeconómicos – tal como lo estamos presenciando en estos momentos.

El jefe del Medio ambiente en la ONU: “La naturaleza nos está enviando un mensaje”

El jefe de Medio ambiente de las Naciones Unidas ha llamado al COVID-19 “un claro disparo de advertencia” de la naturaleza, explicando que las pandemias podrían volverse más frecuentes si volvemos a la actividad destructiva de costumbre, porque la explotación y destrucción de los ecosistemas y hábitats naturales altera el equilibrio de la naturaleza.

De hecho, las crisis climática y ecológica que están teniendo lugar son el resultado directo de tales perturbaciones y daños – el ECOCIDIO – realizados durante décadas.

La ley del Ecocidio: una oferta potente

En momentos como éste, lo que anteriormente era políticamente imposible se puede volver posible. Tal y como la escritora política Naomi Klein y otros expertos en salud y medio ambiente recalcan, esto puede ser un arma de doble filo: significar un mayor control sobre los ciudadanos y la desregularización de la industria, o bien una mayor responsabilidad y apoyo hacia las personas y el planeta.

De esta manera y justo ahora, la Ley del Ecocidio se ha convertido en una potente oferta: es una parte esencial del debate sobre cómo NO regresar a las maneras destructivas ‘de costumbre’.

Ecocide is the extensive damage to, the destruction of or loss of ecosystems of a given territory, by human agency to such an extent that peaceful enjoyment by the inhabitants of that territory has been or will be severely diminished- Polly Higgins the co-founder of a group by the same name ergo, STOP ECOCIDE , was a lawyer who sought to make ECOCIDE a crime.

This blog marks a few weeks and one year since the passing of Ecocides’ co-founder, visionary and legal pioneer the late Polly Higgins (1968-2019). My dear Year of Miracles college was a close friend of Polly’s and indeed Polly left her a much treasured motorbike in her will – awesome for the FREE SPIRITED this. Plans for any kind of live event have of course had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 , but her team have put together some beautiful online content to celebrate and remember her. ATTUNING TO THE VOICE OF MOTHER EARTH
Maya Zacharow, Environmental Scientist who grew up near the Black sea, is hosting an Attuning to the Voice of Mother Earth video summit with lots of top speakers giving interviews, over the next few days – she agrees that the regulations are not sufficient, and like the indigenous cultures we need to reconnect with Earth – you can sign up to the series for FREE here: https://voiceofmother.earth/event-page


A couple of the ways to improve connection are:

1/ Food Intake and Buying Habits:
Making better choices, more locally sourced, avoid PALM OIL which is attributed to deforestation – e.g. of ancient rainforests and the demise of species such as Orangutang. Check how much forest was felled in Canada or where-ever for those Panic Loo rolls to wipe our botties and aim for recyclable or sustainably sourced versions. Plants- try growing your own:
- My father was [an Industrial chemist so he knew what actually went into weed killers and fertilisers] – was an outstanding gardener, a prize winning dahlia grower and he only grew organic food, which my mum a bakers daughter and an excellent cook turned into delicious home-made meals.
- He had an allotment in Bingley, West Yorkshire, UK where he became friends with Sweetpea, a white witch, who ran the wrath of the all- male bastions of the Allotment Executive Committee who tried to oust her from the site – my father instigated and raised funds for her defence.
- You can read about Sweetpea- a fictional character , of the same name here in my novel Spirit of Prophecy.

- Sadly, my fathers gardening gene seems to have by-passed me – I tend to do the total neglect to death-by-drowning , however I am trying – and have a bit of help!! As you can see:

- Take a walk, in nature, a rest [on a socially accepted bench-distance – LOL]
- Watch the trees, the flowers and feel gratitude for the infinite grace and certainty of the rolling seasons.

These are just a couple of suggestions, as we are remembering Polly and acknowledging all those who understand the importance of making ecocide a crime … as a bridge to the more beautiful world we all want to bring into being. For all of you on a spiritual path, you may believe as I do, that the Earth is Ascending from the physical 3rd Dimension through No-Time on the 4th Dimension to the 5th DIMENSION and as she attempts to throw off the considerable harm inflicted on her over the Eons, she needs our help now more than ever.

Today, we continue on with the series of videos and inspiration from the amazing Debra Poneman.


When my dear friend and renowned success expert Debra Poneman was in her 20s, the only job she had ever had was teaching meditation.

If you look in the dictionary for the definition of “success,” you’ll always find some variation on “the attainment of money, material possessions, fame or power.”

You and I both know that in the world we live in today, that definition of “success” is as outdated as the BlackBerry at the bottom of your junk drawer.

The great poet laureate, Maya Angelou who recently passed away at the age of 86 said this about success: “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”
