DARK INTERRACIAL HIGH SCHOOL BULLY ROMANE COMING SOON
I LIKE THE WAY YOU HURT
A dark interracial high school bully romance
Synopsis
After the tragic death of her father several years ago, Cocoa’s mother has finally found love again. Cocoa is unrooted to a small town in West Virginia from Los Angeles, CA before the start of her senior year. Though she’s not enthusiastic about the move, she’s very excited that her mother has found the will to love again. Cocoa meets Maverick before the first day of school. Cocoa is biracial and is everything Maverick has been taught to hate. Though Maverick hates her on sight, a fire burns between them that could destroy both of their worlds, leaving it in ashes. Cocoa can sense the hurt and anger in Maverick wanting to burst free and consume everything in its path. Will Cocoa be the one person that can soothe Maverick’s soul before he self-destructs?
Maverick’s mother committed suicide to escape her abusive husband, leaving six-year-old Maverick to face the fists of his father alone. The only things Maverick can relate to are power, control, pain, and anger. He doesn’t know how to love. He’s afraid of the feelings that Cocoa stirs in him, because he’s not supposed to want her with a fever that burns so bright that it leaves him aching. The only way he knows how to control his feelings is to destroy Cocoa and make her hurt.

Maverick
I arrive at the homecoming dance in black Versace jeans with a white shirt of the same brand, and black leather Giuseppe Zanotti. Honestly, I don’t care about designer shit, never did. If it looks good, I buy it. It has nothing to do with the label slapped on it. I don’t want to analyze the reason why I felt compelled to dress this way tonight.
As soon as I enter the gym with Dee and Nix, I start scanning the crowd for her. The gym is completely transformed from earlier today. A balloon arch made with the school colors is to the left of the gym, with silhouette cutouts of football players and cheerleaders as the background. Stars paw prints, and streamers dot the walls. At the end of the gym are two thrones for the homecoming king and queen. Round tables with stairs are stationed about the gym to form a circle around the dance floor. To the right is the refreshment table. The school’s mascot is walking around, acting the jester.
I spot her dancing in the middle of the crowded dance floor, without a care in the world; not giving a fuck that half the school hates her because of me. She’s a fucking seductress among peasants. The way she sways her hips, rubbing her hands down her body, is making me lose my damn mind. My heart is beating a mile a minute. She’s wearing another one of her barely-there dresses. This one is a sparkly blue, and she’s finished her outfit with silver glitter high heels. She’s shaking her ass on Jamal. If it was with any other male, I would’ve flipped my shit.
Dee and Nix notice the direction of my look.
“You’re in way over your head,” says Nix.
“Tell me something I don’t already know.”
As I walk towards Cocoa, I hear Dee say, “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil.” Nix laughs.
It takes a few seconds for her to notice that I’m standing in front of her. When she does, her hips stop moving to the beat of the music to watch me.
“Get lost,” I say to Jamal, without taking my eyes off Cocoa.
He immediately leaves, no questions asked, because he knows better.
“What do you want, Maverick?”
You, I want you.
I step into her personal space until my body is flushed against hers. She stands her ground, not backing down.
She gasps when I place my hands on her hips, and then slowly move them down, gripping her ass. Cocoa wraps her hands around my neck. The electricity between us is enough to power Las Vegas for centuries to come. My dick is getting hard, pressed against her warm body. By the look in her eyes, I know she feels it. When I place a slow kiss on Cocoa’s neck, she moans.
The faces around me register shock, but not Victoria; she’s fucking pissed. She storms out of the gym. I lift my head from Cocoa’s neck to look at her again. She’s so damn beautiful.
Beauty and the Beast.
“I’m sorry about your mother.”
And just like that, the mood is broken.
I grip her arms with bruising force, and Cocoa winces.
“Don’t ever say anything about my mother,” I say as I push her back, making her stumble.
“I was just saying sorry for what happened, asshole. I know what it’s like to lose a parent. My dad was killed.”
“So, what does that mean? Do you want to start a club called the “The Kids with Dead Parents?”
“What’s wrong with you?” Cocoa asks with a tremor in her voice.
“I don’t want nor need your damn condolences. My mother was a weak bitch who never fought back, and she never protected her only child.”
“Who hurt you?”
“Oh, you want to take on the role of being my psychiatrist now?”
“Fuck you.”
“Oh, you want the dick? All you had to do was ask.” I grab my dick.
I run my fingers through my hair as she walks away.
Fuck her, fuck everybody.

Preparing your first manuscript
So you’re ready to pen your first manuscript but you don’t know where to begin. Trust me, I get it. I was the same way just a few months ago when I decided to pen my first manuscript. The first quality you must possess is passion. Penning a manuscript isn’t easy so if you lack passion then your manuscript may fall short. Patience and dedication are equally important qualities to possess as well. Research and read books in the same genre your manuscript will be in. Take note of how popular authors execute the plot of their books. Read reviews as well so you can have a clear understanding of what’s important to readers.
In preparation to pen my first manuscript I typed a detailed Microsoft word document listing the characters and outlining the plot. I wanted to have a clear direction for my characters and for the storyline to flow smoothly. Finally, if you’re experiencing writer’s block take a break for a few hours or even a few days. It’s important not to force yourself. Gather your thoughts first before moving forward. Also, if I had an idea to add to my manuscript and I didn’t have paper and a pen handy, I texted myself to ensure I didn’t forget. Below is an excerpt from my first novella.
Taboo Desires: Sexual Awakening
“So, Dom, you’re into BDSM,” says Reese with a smirk on her face.
A few family members attempt to hide their smile, while others laugh openly. I nearly choke on the water I’d been drinking. Ren, who’s sitting to my left, helpfully pats me on the back. I kick Reese hard underneath the table.
“Ouch,” she yells dramatically, then adds, “what did I do?”
Fucking asshole.
“What’s BDSM?” my grandmother asks.
Reese is so dead.
No one at the table can hide their laughter anymore, including Dom. He seems unfazed that my sister has openly put him on the spot. Reese seems annoyed that she was unable to ruffle his feathers.
“It’s a new dance,” I tell my grandmother.
That reply causes another round of laughter to erupt, and I can’t help but laugh, too.
“You young folks come up with the craziest dance moves.”
“Get up and show me this new dance,” says my grandmother.
Oh Lord.
“Yeah, I’m curious to see this new dance,” says Reese.
I look to Ke Ke. “Can you not control her?”
“Nope”, she says around a mouthful of kale greens.
“It’s a series of complex dance moves, I need a lot of space to execute them grandma, so I can’t show you right now.”
“Okay, maybe another time.”
“Sure thing.”
Tragedy averted.
“To answer your question; yes, I’m into BDSM.”
All eyes are on Dom.
“So, Dom, I was wondering, could we use the Diamond Member section of The Playhouse to host a Christmas themed party for The Soft Thirty Podcast?” asks Ronnie.
Ronnie should’ve asked me first so that I could speak to Dom about the request privately. I don’t want him to feel obligated to accommodate her because she’s my sister.
“Sure, when do you want to have the party?”
“I was thinking the fourteenth of December.”
“I’ll be sure to reserve the space for you.”
“Thank you.”

Dating in the 21st century
If you’ve been single for more than several years like me, you understand the difficulties of navigating through the dating world of today. Where do I start? Let’s see, men in relationships are constantly sending me direct messages on social media even with their relationship status displayed and pictures of their significant other plastered throughout their profile. These men are extremely bold or maybe being a side-chick is acceptable nowadays. When I call the men out for sending me a message when they’re clearly in a relationship, responses are mostly the same. I’m blocked or the man insists his actions are innocent. In my opinion a man in a relationship should not send a message to a woman under any circumstances because there is always an ulterior motive. Where has the loyalty gone? Is monogamy in relationships a thing of the past? Either way it leaves a sour taste in my mouth because I refuse to share a man. Social media has made it easier for people to cheat. I love social media but it’s a fact. If a person finds it impossible to remain faithful in a relationship, stay single. Forget the excuses, it’s just that simple. Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just calling it how I see it.
Online dating is another thorn in my side though I must admit, there are some benefits. Unfortunately, most busy working adults don’t have time to hit the social scene to meet someone organically which is why they flock to the convenience of online dating. It’s an advantage for singles to be given the opportunity to meet someone they wouldn’t have otherwise met without the option of online dating. One glaring disadvantage is that it’s so much easier for a person to pretend to be something they’re not. I’ve encountered men who’ve lied about their height, age, relationship status, criminal background, smoking habits, career, etc. Some of my female friends on social media husbands even have profiles, but I just sip my tea. Another issue is possibly being catfished. Some of the stories I’ve heard are unbelievable. I really don’t understand how people are still being catfished with the different types of technology available. Most people have at least one social media account where recent pictures can be viewed. There’s also video chatting. I never meet anyone without video chatting first.
Okay, moving on. Ladies have you noticed that some men don’t want to properly court women anymore? They’re looking for the “Netflix & Chill” type of situation for easy access into your pants. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of the endless, “hey stranger, wyd, hey big head, I miss you, when am I going to see you?” texts instead of receiving “ good morning, thinking of you, let’s go out” texts. I just don’t understand new age men. I want flowers, the door opened for me, and I want the damn chair pulled out for me too. Dating is like having a part time job. It’s time consuming shifting through the bull crap. Most times a person introduces their representative first but eventually their true colors surface.
The current dating issues in society prompted me to pen my first novella Taboo Desires: Sexual Awakening. It’s about a woman name Raine who has given up on dating. She’s been single for six years and has been abstinent for eight months so she’s sexually frustrated. Her sisters coerce her into going to a sex club where she meets Dom and let’s just say he introduces her to sexual heights she never could’ve imagined.
Taboo Desires: Sexual Awakening is available for purchase on Amazon. An Amazon gift card giveaway will be announced soon.
