Get a sense of the life of a caregiver .

Published after years as a spouse-caregiver, the two books tell of our journey from the initial years through the later stages of the disease.

I wrote the books, "Is There Any Ice Cream?" and "Did You Hide the Cookies?" and the ongoing caregiving blog with hopes that I can help caregivers discover that if they reach out to let others know they need help, there will be support there.

I have become single focused, which becomes intense at times. If not horror then terror. I anticipate those fears, the ones that precede true horror, every day.(less)

Caregivers have issues, too.

Here we are, caregivers for others who have some form of dementia. We know lots about it. ... But have we given that same dedicated attention to ourselves?

I am so glad Jenny Coffey wrote "I'm Still Me: My Life with MG" about her childhood "adventure" with MG. I find the perspective so positive, a tone that will transfer in the reading to children, or their reading it.

“I believe it was overcoming the fears that gave me the strength and wisdom to recognize that I would be ‘strong enough’ to be a caregiver. I was not trained, but I evolved.”
