Brain Education-based App Now Available on London Lightrail

A guided meditation app based on Ilchi Lee’s Brain Education method is now being used in a United Kingdom train system. Brain Recharge, an easy-to-use app for both Apple and Android, can be downloaded for free to help passengers “Pause, Relax, and Reconnect.” These reminders reflect the goal of the Inner Journey initiative of which the app is now a part, which is “to support passenger wellbeing and mental health” as many face the stress of returning to commuting after the COVID-19 lockdowns, according to the initiative announcement.
As part of this initiative, twelve train cars on the DLR train line in East and Southeast London have been modified to have sections of the walls and ceilings display scenes from nature and inspirational messages reminding them to relax and look within during their busy commute. The modified trains will be used throughout the DLR system. Three DLR stations have also been given meditation corners with real greenery as well as images of nature and calming colors. Launched on October 6, 2021, ahead of World Mental Health Day on October 10th, the Inner Journey initiative will last for at least six months.

The Inner Journey initiative was developed by DLR operators KeolisAmey Docklands (KAD) and charity Youmanity. The DLR (Docklands Light Railway) provides driverless service that connects to the London Tube (subway/underground) network.
Brain Recharge was created in May 2019 by a website and company founded by Ilchi Lee, Change Your Energy. It features over one hundred audiovisual guided meditations under the categories: Recharge, Relax, Heal, and Manifest. Brain Recharge applies Ilchi Lee’s more than forty years of meditation development experience and brings together his audio content in one easy-to-access place.
For the Inner Journey initiative, an “On DLR” category was added to the app. This category focuses on nature meditations. The meditations take urban commuters to a calm countryside, eternal mountain, ancient forest, and deep ocean.
Ilchi Lee’s five-step Brain Education system of self-development and holistic health is also being applied at Body & Brain Yoga and Tai Chi centers and other training centers, community centers, schools, workplaces, and nonprofits in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, Japan, France, Spain, Belgium, New Zealand, Russia, Qatar, China, and more. Millions of people have benefitted from this system, which also forms the basis of accredited educational institutions Ilchi Lee founded in his native South Korea.

Signs with QR codes help passengers easily download the Brain Recharge app.
Brain Recharge can be downloaded in the Apple App Store or Google Play and tried for free for seven days. After the trial period, users can get unlimited, ad-free access to the meditations for $9.99/month or $99.99/year. Premium Members of ChangeYourEnergy.com have access to the Brain Recharge app included in their membership.

Start Self-Care at the Root with These 3 Chakra Meditations
Self-care begins with maintaining our energy, and maintaining our energy begins with the root chakra.
You may have realized by now that to resolve any of the issues in our lives—whether serious or trivial, in our health or relationships—and then to go beyond and truly thrive, we need to start with working on ourselves. Our own condition is what we have the most power over and responsibility to care for. And as we use this power, it expands and grows.
While we can take many approaches to this, I suggest starting from the root. Everything in our lives stems from our consciousness and energy. By changing our energy first, we’ll see our thoughts, emotions, and even our physical body transform.
The root of the system of life energy (qi/chi) that animates our body is the first chakra (root chakra), found at the base of the trunk of our body. This chakra influences all of the chakras above it. We all came into the world through the first chakra. It houses our instinctual drives for food, sex, and survival and is the seat of the unconscious mind. With a healthy root chakra, we feel more confident and empowered to take care of ourselves, and we have a natural trust in the abundance of life. We also have a healthy and balanced libido and attitude toward sexuality.
How Is Your Root Chakra? The energy in a chakra, like anywhere in the energy system, can be called “dark,” “sluggish,” or “blocked” as well as “bright,” “light,” or “flowing.” These words describe how the energy feels when we’re aware of it.
You can liken energy flow to the flow of water in a river. When a river is flowing without restriction, the water is clearer and its color is lighter. However, in areas where something obstructs the water, it can’t flow as smoothly or rapidly. Sediment and algae build up, and the water appears darker and denser. Just as clearer water is healthier for our body, clearer energy is healthier.
Even if our energy is clear and bright, how much of it circulates through each chakra is also important. Too little energy makes a chakra “weak,” diminishing aspects of us related to that chakra. Too much energy makes a chakra “overactive,” driving related aspects to the opposite extreme. Ideally, we want our chakras to be balanced. A balanced chakra’s energy is just right.
Our root chakra is weak/blocked if we:
Feel lethargic.Lack will or passion.Have a poor sense of reality. Are oversensitive to external stimuli.Exhibit a nervous, insecure disposition.Have a poor body image.Engage in self-destructive behaviors.Feel overly self-conscious or ashamed. Our root chakra is overactive if we:
Engage in greedy, self-obsessed behavior.Have sexual addiction or unsafe sexual habits.Tend to be angry.Be attached to possessions or money. Our root chakra is balanced if we:
Have courage and strength.Live with passion and a love of life.Act with decisiveness and confidence.Easily forgive.Enjoy Ilchi Lee’s blog posts?Keep up-to-date with weekly wisdom delivered directly to your email inbox.
Root Chakra MeditationsIf you feel that your first chakra is out of balance, you can recalibrate it with these mind-body exercises from my book, Healing Chakras: Awaken Your Body’s Energy System for Complete Health, Happiness, and Peace.
Root Chakra Stimulation
Sit in a butterfly position with the soles of your feet pressed against each other. Grab your feet with both hands.Raise your hips up and down so that your first chakra area at the base of your trunk is stimulated.Repeat ten times. Then sit comfortably with your back straight and breathe naturally, focusing on the sensations you feel.Root Chakra Strengthening
Stand with your legs shoulder width apart and bring your knees closer together, leaving a space the size of a fist between them. Raise your arms straight out in front of you with palms down. Straighten your back and hips.As you inhale, expand your abdomen and bring your thighs as far as you can toward the middle while tightening your anal sphincter/kegel muscles. At the same time, make your hands into fists. Then pause.Exhale while you relax your muscles. Repeat this exercise for ten minutes in the morning and evening.Root Chakra Vibration for Circulation
Sit with your back straight. It’s easier to do this exercise in a half-lotus or cross-legged posture if possible.Bring your mind to your tailbone and to where your trunk touches the floor or chair.Move your hips repeatedly, shaking them side to side, forward and back, up and down, or in a circle.Keep your upper body, including your shoulders, neck, and head, lose as you shake. Exhale through your mouth. At some point, you may feel heat in the tailbone area that may spread to your pelvic floor and lower back.Regular Root Chakra MaintenanceCertain aspects of modern society can make it difficult to keep the first chakra healthy. Negative information and fear-based thinking are like a disease to the first chakra, creating a culture of overconsumption and greed. Society’s conflicting and unhealthy attitudes about sexuality further complicate the matter. For overall health and happiness, the first chakra must be healthy to serve as a foundation upon which all other chakras may be built.
We can preserve this foundation with regular daily chakra maintenance. I often talk about how our energy needs daily cleaning as much as our physical body does. Use the exercises above to keep your root chakra balanced, or if it is balanced, practice chakra meditations like this one for overall chakra health.

Watch Q&A Live on “Spirituality in Sex” Oct 28
Join Ilchi Lee for his next Live Q&A on “Spirituality in Sex” on the Brain Education TV YouTube channel this Thursday, Oct 28, 2021.
You’ll have the opportunity to chat live and ask questions, but channel hosts Linda Yoonjin Suh and Gabi Petrylaite have also prepared some questions beforehand:
Sex is a very important aspect of having a fulfilling relationship and marriage. But, some may find themselves feeling sexually unhappy with their partner and also not knowing what is missing. What do we need to do or prepare both individually and as a couple to create a beautiful, fulfilling, and happy sex life together? There are some men and women who experience intense sexual urges that result in compulsive action to release sexual energy. Is sex and sexual energy an obstacle to spiritual growth and enlightenment? If so, how can we redirect our sexual energy to propel spiritual growth? In other words, how can we stop fighting with our sexual energy, and instead, develop a good relationship with it?Spiritual sexual union is typically described as yin (female energy) coming together with yang (male energy). Is that possible only between a man and woman? Can same sex couples experience a spiritual sexual union as well? What happens to the energy in my body during sex? Are there things couples can do to connect spiritually and energetically to exchange deep love?Watch the Live and Set a Reminder here.

5 Awakenings You Need to Know about Spiritual Sexuality
[Photo by Chermiti Mohamed on Unsplash]
Our experience of sexuality can be our choice and our creation based on our perspective and how we use our sexual energy.
Traveling around the world for the past thirty years, I’ve had many opportunities to speak to people of different backgrounds and ideologies. I’ve learned numerous things from them, and one discovery I made was that one’s attitude toward and experience with sexuality vastly influences the quality of one’s life, in both positive and negative ways.
Unfortunately, people’s dual perspectives on sex, especially their negativity or shame, often prevents them from leading more fulfilling and authentic lives. Sexual trauma causes even deeper suffering and lasting effects.
I’m not an expert on sexuality, but my own experiences and my awakenings through meditation and understanding of life energy have given me a perspective on sexuality that I believe is holistic, empowering, and nurturing.
I’d like to share some key points of this perspective with you:Our sexual nature is part of our nature; there’s no reason to feel guilty about having that nature. Millions of years of evolution have given us a sophisticated system of neural pathways and hormonal systems that make us feel good and fuel our attraction to and union with others. It’s part of what makes us human and alive. Almost all of us ultimately came from a sexual act.We each have a right to choose how we feel about and experience sex. Our experience of sex is private, regardless of the society we find ourselves in. It’s also important to our well-being.Sex is an experience of our spirit, not just of our senses. When we harmonize the physical and spiritual aspects of sexuality, our expression of sexual energy can shift dramatically. Mature sex is an art, a healing, true communication that unites the body and spirit. Sex is at its best when it’s aligned with our health, well-being, and life purpose. On the flip side, sex can exert inappropriate influence on our judgment or be used to control others or boost our ego. It can become an addiction that warps our relationships or keeps us from our true selves.Mature sex means responsible sex. Responsibility means accepting that we create our circumstances and our experience. It also means creating our sexual life, like other aspects of our lives, consciously and in the image of our truest values and vision. We all have sexual energy; it’s one of the most powerful energies inside us. It’s a creative energy that’s central to life. When sexual energy, which originates in the lower abdomen, is activated, it moves around the body. If not managed well, it can rise to the head and manifest in preoccupations and dreams. We need the energy center in our lower abdomen to be strong and full of energy in order to use instead of being controlled by our sexual energy. Exercises such as deep abdominal breathing strengthen this energy center while concentrating and transforming sexual energy so that we can use it to enhance our sexual experience and even to create what we want in our lives. Concentrated sexual energy can heighten our vitality and passion for life. It can power the creation of art, music, and writing and fuel our social or political endeavors. When sexual energy flows naturally, we experience the greatest harmony in our relationships.
Exercises such as abdominal breathing strengthen the abdominal energy center while concentrating and transforming sexual energy so that we can use it to enhance our sexual experience and even to create what we want in our lives.

How to Clear Up Emotional Messes Every Day

[Photo by twenty20photos via Envato Elements]
By focusing our attention on cosmic consciousness, we receive cosmic energy, which purifies emotional energy and lets us watch our emotions with detachment.
Every day, many of us go through a range of emotions. Even if we tend to be on an even keel, we may still have times when emotions make us wobble. Emotions are a natural part of being alive, and they have profound effects on our lives. They influence how we think about ourselves and others and alter our actions. Because they’re so encompassing and influential, it can be easy to lose track of the fact that our emotions don’t need to be in the driver’s seat.
Instead of being led by our emotions, we can hand the steering wheel of our lives to our true selves, the part of us that understands the big picture and has unconditional love for ourselves and for all life. It’s from this part of us that true and lasting peace and joy arise.
Take Charge of Emotions by Clearing Their ChargeWhat gives emotions their power is their “charge”—their energy. Emotions with a strong charge can overwhelm our thoughts and trigger a strong response. They can continue to instigate the same response even when their initial cause no longer exists, because the charge gets stored in our memory. The stronger the charge, the easier it is to pull that emotion from our memory and experience it again. Emotions from our past can rule our present, even if they don’t fit the situation.
We can diffuse the charge of our emotions and free ourselves from their influence, however. We can even “purify” the energy behind an emotion and transform it from negative to positive, or from dark to light.
Watch Emotions with DetachmentFor many of us, our conscious mind is lost in thought and covered by sticky lumps of emotion. So our thoughts and emotions go unwatched. For example, let’s say that you have feelings of hatred and resentment toward someone, but those emotions feel so natural and obvious that you end up thinking and saying things that come from them. Instead of objectively watching your emotions, you end up justifying and rationalizing your feelings. This is a state in which your consciousness is stuck to emotions and they become amplified.
If we’re able to see our emotions from a few steps away, however, they can’t suddenly sneak up on us. They can’t fool us into thinking that an emotional response is the only response available to us. We can observe the emotions and then make a different choice.
We’re also able to more easily see that the conflicts and events in our personal relationships are merely a process for drawing out our emotions. Ordinarily, those emotions are not readily expressed outwardly because we suppress them with thought. Those feelings start to appear as they are revealed through clashes of different kinds. As they come up, we can watch them and learn from them.
This internal examination helps us not get caught up in our emotions. That’s why when emotions come up, it’s better to watch ourselves instead of concentrating on the person or situation that triggered them. Only then can we see the roots of our feelings, purify them, and make choices based on what our true self wants.
Use the Power of the Cosmos to Overcome the Power of EmotionsWe can start to separate our conscious mind from our emotions by turning its attention to something greater than our small selves or our ego. Cosmic energy and cosmic consciousness exists all around and inside us. It’s who we really are. If we focus on cosmic consciousness, then our brain starts to operate with information from cosmic consciousness. Then cosmic energy starts to circulate in our brain, weakening the thoughts of our ego and separating our consciousness from our emotions.
Separating our consciousness from emotional charge doesn’t necessarily happen all at once, though. Particularly if we have deeply embedded trauma or emotional habits that we’re not even aware of, the process can take time and we may go through several stages.
Stage 1: I Know I Should Separate, But I Don’t Want To
In the initial stages, we may feel, “I should escape from my emotions, but I don’t want to,” because the power of the emotional charge is great. We may have identified with our emotions for a long time, and pulling back may feel like we ourselves are dying instead of our emotions only losing the energy fed to them by our consciousness. When we are mired in feelings like hatred, resentment, jealousy, envy, anger, and fear, if we feel, “It’s only natural for me to feel this way,” then we are in a state in which our consciousness is stuck firmly to emotion. When we start to perceive that our emotional state is unhealthy, but we don’t want to let go of those feelings, then our consciousness has slightly separated from our emotions.
Stage 2: I Want to Separate, But I Doubt I Can
With a little more separation, we may think, “I should escape from these emotions, but can I, really? Escaping from them is unthinkable.” We may doubt our ability to be unaffected by the strong emotions we can still feel and witness.
Stage 3: I Trust I Can Separate
Once we pass that state, we may realize, “It’s a little awkward and embarrassing, but I can escape from those emotions.” At this point, we’ve separated our consciousness from our emotions enough that we can feel the process working and have hope that it will be completed. We’ve developed the will and confidence to escape from the charge of our emotions.
We can start to separate our conscious mind from our emotions by turning its attention to something greater than our small selves or our ego.

Cosmic energy is a powerful force for releasing emotional charge, or in other words, purifying emotional energy. When we pay attention to cosmic mind and the pure energy of cosmic energy enters and begins to circulate in our body and brain, it has the power to transform emotional energy into pure energy. With only pure energy inside us, we automatically feel joyful and peaceful at a basic level.
And as our true self acts with cosmic mind and makes choices, cosmic energy increases. Then the energy of our emotions purifies more and more.

Make Time Every DayJust as we rush to clean off dog poop if we step in it, it’s best to clean up our emotions when they happen. And we can make sure to take an emotional shower every night before we sleep so our charged up emotions don’t get embedded in and affect our mind. A nightly emotional shower makes sure the emotions of one day don’t affect the next.

[Video] Q&A with Ilchi Lee: How Energetic Balance Fortifies Your Health and Resilience
In this Q&A with Haeri Jo on my Korean “Ilchi Lee’s Brain TV” channel, I answered questions addressing the importance of inner balance on our health, resilience, and even confidence and self-value. In particular, balancing the “water” and “fire” energies that flow in our bodies, what’s known as Water Up, Fire Down circulation, is fundamental.
In this first segment, I answer the questions:
1. You’ve been emphasizing Water Up Fire Down energy circulation lately; would you explain the reason for that?
2. Is there a simple way to practice Water Up, Fire Down in your everyday life?
3. What habits do you need to develop for Water Up, Fire Down circulation?
Then in the second segment, I apply energy principles to living well during the pandemic.

How to Manage Our Basic Instincts and Grow into Our Greatest Selves
[image error]
Expressing our highest self through striving for a grand dream transforms our consciousness and tempers our ego.
You could say that each of us as a human being has a rational nature and a materialistic nature. We have the drive to eat, sleep, and procreate, among other drives, in order for ourselves and the species to survive. Most of us control these drives with our rational mind. We restrain ourselves from expressing these natural drives when it can be harmful or inappropriate for ourselves or others.
Sometimes maintaining a balance between these two natures comes easily, but sometimes it’s much harder. Stress and emotion may overcome our reason and we may eat more than is healthy for us. Depression or sadness may make it harder to get out of bed, and loneliness may lead us to the arms of someone we may not care for. When we feel weak, the influence of our rational mind can also weaken.
Besides the drives we need to survive, our materialistic nature includes emotions driven by our ego. Envy and jealousy of people who seem to have more or to do better than us exemplify these egoic emotions.
Enjoy Ilchi Lee’s blog posts?Keep up-to-date with weekly wisdom delivered directly to your email inbox.
We Are MoreBut we have another nature that we can develop to be stronger than our rational nature or our materialistic nature. This is our divine nature. Our divine nature is a consciousness and energy that is greater than our body, our personal selves, or this lifetime. It’s the energy and consciousness of Creation and Oneness, and it’s housed in our brain stem.
When our brain and body are filled with bright, strong, clear energy, we have less unhealthy urges and our vital functions and natural desires fall into balance. Then we don’t need to use our mind to force ourselves to eat less or stay out of harmful relationships. We have the energy we need to look forward to getting out of bed in the morning and doing what we need to do.
People whose brain energy is bright and strong make choices for their health, happiness, and peace. They also seek to help the world be healthier, happier, and more peaceful. This desire and ability comes from our divine nature.
How to Strengthen Our Divine SelvesTo brighten and grow our divine energy, we can do meditations such as this pineal gland meditation. We can also remain aware of our desires and emotions, and if we feel like our materialistic nature may take over, we can ask our divine nature to step in and help us overcome them.
We can respond with gratitude as well. Offering gratitude for the challenging situations and people who make things difficult for us or who just make us feel down can stimulate our divine nature and help us rise out of our egoic or negative emotions.
Finally, we can grow our divine nature by committing to a vision, a goal, that resonates with our divine nature. Such a goal inevitably involves creating something for the greater good. Working on this goal gives us a reason to put our other wants and needs aside. At the same time that it stems from our divine nature and uses the energy of our divine nature, this vision also feeds our divine nature.
Consistently striving toward a humanitarian dream is the most important element for overcoming the materialistic tendencies that may keep us from embodying our greatest potential.
