Aidan: Blind Heart Short Story
New Short Story added!
I’ve completed the short story retelling some of the key moments between Aidan and Daniel. You might recall that Aidan is one of the Main Characters in Book 1 Wolf Hunted. Daniel was Aidan’s past significant other who was annoying as hell in the story. You can enjoy the short stories here or click FREE STORIES as the top of the page.
I hope you enjoy!

Writing Update – July ’21
I’m currently putting the finishing touches on a short story involving Aidan Millstone, the Main Character from Book 1 and the fated mate of Sirus. This short takes place in the past and focuses on his relationship with Daniel. I got feedback from some just how much they hated Daniel, Aidan’s love interest who showed up in Book 1. Needless to say, you were supposed to hate Daniel, but many were wondering how Aidan could have fallen for him to begin with. This story will open up a few eyes and answer a few questions (hopefully all of them).
While I work on this, I’ve also been rounding out the characters and setting for the Urban Fantasy series I’ll be working on next. The recurring MC will be female, and the story will be set in the same universe as Shifters of the Great Wolf, so don’t be surprised if you see some of the characters you’ve met already! Once I’ve finished with the Aidan short story, I’m planning to complete a short story about the new MC as a means to introduce you to her. I really think you’re going to love her. I already do and can’t wait to bring her to life! There will be some romance in this new series, but keeping with the tropes of UF, it won’t be center stage, I’ve decided it will be slow burn.
I hope you are all safe and staying cool in the summer heat.
Thank you for reading my words!

I Enjoyed Luca – But Was It Queer?
No plot spoilers, though I will talk about aspects of the story, so if you haven’t seen it yet, keep this in mind.
Let me start by saying I really enjoyed the Pixar movie Luca. Like all Pixar movies, it moved me along on an emotional rollercoaster, pulling more than a few tears from my eyes (then again, I’m a crier). Pixar is really good at that. They have the formula down, repeating it without appearing repetitive.
The story focuses on the budding friendship between two boys. Well, sea monster boys. It’s Pixar, so you might expect their relationship has its ups and downs. Well, that’s the extent of my spoilers .
Enjoyment of the movie aside, I saw a tweet from Kevin McHale, and it got me thinking:
Luca is the queerest movie I’ve ever seen.— Kevin McHale (@druidDUDE) June 20, 2021Was it queer?
In retrospect, while watching the movie, I did wonder about what was going on in each of the boy’s heads as the strength of their bond suffered. What drove them? What it just a friendship? A crush?
The intent of a good book or movie is to bring the reader / viewer into the narrative. If they see themself in the story, they become part of it, enjoy it even more. I read an article the other day about an interview given by Anthony Mackie (star of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) where he essentially refuted fans belief there was a gay attraction between Falcon and Winter Soldier. He asked why it had to be a gay relationship. Why couldn’t it just be two straight men comfortable being close to each other?
Here is a link to the Queerty Article
My question is this: why can’t it be both? If viewers see themselves in the story, straight men will see two men comfortable being close, and the LBGT+ community might see two men with an unspoken attraction. What does this have to do with Luca? I think it’s the same thing. People will see themselves in the story, in fact, I think they will put themselves in a great story, whether the author intended it or not, whether the author (or actors), want it or not.
Perhaps it’s on to the creators and creatives involved with storytelling to accept them, even if they don’t embrace them. How far should that go? I was also reading another author’s blog, and she called out a few fans of her work who felt they were part of the creative process and were part “owners” in the intellectual property of her stories.
I don’t have the answers (sorry if you were looking for them!), but I find it a very interesting question, worth thinking about.
Thanks for listening.
Take care,
CJ

Book 6 Wolf’s Faith is Released!
Hot on the heels of Book 5 (relatively speaking!), Book 6 is now available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.
I was lucky enough to keep my full-time job during the pandemic, and, in fact, our company grew busier than ever before. We are a technology company supporting the infrastructure of the internet and telecommunications. With everyone working from home, business exploded for us, and my workload expanded along with it. Trust me when I say I’m not complaining, but it was at the expense of my writing time. I had planned to release Book 5 and Book 6 last summer, but I was forced to put those plans on hold.
So, it’s with much excitement, I’m finally able to get the last two books of the Damaged Hearts Trilogy out of my brain and onto the page.
Here is the link to the Amazon page.
As always, I hope you enjoy my words.
Take care,
CJ

A New Look
If you’ve visited before, you may have noticed the website now has a new look. I’ve tried to modernize the appearance and (hopefully) sped up your browsing experience. The color scheme is much simpler which is (hopefully) easier on your eyes. As before, I’ll update the website with the latest book publishing information so check back regularly.
In addition, I’ve created this blog. From time to time, I’ll post about things going on with me, future writing plans and story ideas, interesting news items, cute cat pictures (I hope you love cats), and anything else that strikes my fancy. If you have any feedback on the website or blog post ideas, feel free to leave a comment.Take careCJ.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px}.fusion-builder-column-0>.fusion-column-wrapper{padding-top:0px !important;padding-right:0px !important;margin-right:1.92%;padding-bottom:0px !important;padding-left:0px !important;margin-left:1.92%}@media only screen and (max-width:1024px){.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important}.fusion-builder-column-0>.fusion-column-wrapper{margin-right:1.92%;margin-left:1.92%}}@media only screen and (max-width:640px){.fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0{width:100% !important}.fusion-builder-column-0>.fusion-column-wrapper{margin-right:1.92%;margin-left:1.92%}}.fusion-body .fusion-flex-container.fusion-builder-row-1{padding-top:0px;margin-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;margin-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px}The post A New Look appeared first on CJ Vosse.
