Stories always stay with us. And always, they bring along a lot of other memories. My book is based on a story I heard from my dadi (later from my mom too) when I was a little girl. Dadi told us stories every night that we spent at the village during our summer vacations, sleeping under the sky full of stars. She deliberately spoke in a very low and monotonous voice to get us bored to sleep. But I was far from getting bored, with my imagination painting vivid pictures as the story moved forward.

Even today, when I recall her telling us the stories, I can almost hear her lilting voice and feel the cool breeze of the pristine countryside. It's been a long, long time since I visited my village - some exams were too important some times, some work deadlines were not to be missed some times, and familial responsibilities called the shot other times. But I hope to put all these aside and visit my village soon. A lot would have changed there, but a lot would still be the same - same enough for me to feel like a child again.
