What's in a name?

My Studio was originally named "OTS Productions" or "On the Strip Productions" in reference to what I called the infrequent 2-3 panel joke comics I drew making fun of my inner circle that was eventually added to the school newspaper in my Senior Year. This was a strange year for me but I was encouraged to poke fun of my school administrative staff.

After high school, I shifted to Studio Peregrine, simply because I am obsessed with Peregrine Falcons to the point that this was an alias for a character in my comic, "Painted Wings" who was re-introduced as a supporting cast member of my friend's comic, "The Lavenders" when he asked me to write a comic script for Year One.

Around 2002/2003, I became the president of my college's Anime society- Starlight Anime. I was later brainstorming something we could do to pair our artists and writers that would allow them to collaborate on a joint project that played to their strengths for a quarterly or annual comic. It was outside of the charter of the Anime Society; the student newspaper- the Owl; and the Literary Magazine- Reflections.

We decided to call it "Hikari no Houshi", (roughly translated "Natural Light of the Star") or HnH for short, as a nod to the Anime society and submitted the proposal.

It was rejected.

Instead, I grabbed the "Studio HnH" domain name and used it for myself and my friends when we went to local anime conventions t sell our work. Each of us had a different skill set and we were already collaborating.

So fast forward to now. I am the only active member Studio HnH. Instead of paying for 2 domains, I merged my websites together under the Studio HnH umbrella.

My husband and son want to create video games. I share this interest but all 3 of us want to create different styles of games. We were discussing forming an LLC for our game business and each wing would be something else.

He wanted to use "Hebi" for snake as something to do with our business name. As I joke I mentioned that I could just shift the meaning of "HnH" to "Hikari no Hebi" or "Hoshi no Hebi" and still have the same abbreviation.

As Studio HnH, I write anime, manga, and book reviews. I create video games. I do some graphic design. I sometimes get a wild hair and draw. I mostly just write whatever strikes my fancy.

My passion lies in horror so I bulk of my writing falls back on those darker themes. My main projects are my webcomics that I have also formatted for print: Salient Caligation and Song of Asteria.

I also collaborate with Moonhawk Productions and Pink Panties Productions as a producer and co-writer for those webcomics ans web series.

Studio HnH is my catch all for any sort of projects that I do where I am a main contributing force. If I am brought on as a "hired gun", it's just my name that gets credited.

I look forward to what the future brings and I hope to have more stories completed by the time the next decade rolls around.
