So many reasons to be happy.

Wow! Didn't realize it's been over a month since I last blogged. It's been busy here!

Bannon's Gym #2 is finally coming into the home stretch! How apropos that an MMA fighter book should fight me every step of the way, but we're getting closer and closer to Tom and Travis's happy ending.

OTOH, LA Witt's and my super-kinky rock star novel, Guarded, is chugging along like a champ. Every new chapter in our inboxes is like a scary Christmas present. We're never quite sure how the other's going to yank the rug out. We've already had plenty of twists and turns in this dark, perverted tale, and there are more waiting up ahead! (Sex parties, anyone?)

*rubs hands together*

I've been doing that a lot these days - taking the time to relish what I do and letting how incredibly lucky I am sink in. At the ripe old age of *mumble, mumble* I'm finally living my dream of making it as a full-time writer.

Am I a New York Times best seller? Nope, but that doesn't mean I'm not successful. Having tons of money and a big, spiffy house on the ocean would be nice, but I don't need it. I'm making enough to pay my bills every month and still afford to eat out and go to the movies every now and then. I have a lovely new apartment that's the perfect size for me and my cat. After months of struggling, my muse is back and talking to me again.

What's not to love about a life like that?

Sure, there are discouraging days, when my characters refuse to cooperate. When it's gloomy outside and my seasonal affective disorder kicks in and all I want to do is crawl in bed until next spring. Luckily, those days are fewer and far between than they were a year or so ago. Being in new, shiny, more uplifting surroundings has definitely helped with that.

I dragged my feet on moving for four and a half years after Don passed - had I known what a kick in the pants it would be for me, mood-wise, I would've done it a lot sooner.

That, and self-publishing. I wouldn't be making a living at this writing gig without it. In fact, it was one year ago today that my first self-pubbed book, By Chance, went live.

Twelve months later, I have six self-pubbed titles available, and two more on the way. I published two novellas with Riptide this year, and co-wrote a two-book military romance series for Samhain with LA Witt. So, yeah, my 2013's been pretty damn productive.

The best part? I feel good about where I'm going with my career in 2014. And it can only get better from here. :)
