The Empress
I recently responded to a question on Facebook
Q: Who is your favourite character in The Empress?
A: I think Wonataban probably is my favourite character. The Sofanomin/Aramin wiseman is powerful but humble and quietly spoken.
If you have read the book I would love to know your favourite character?

Gladiators - A short story
Gladiators
The crowd rises to its feet as one. The applause, the whistling, the cheers, echo around the stadium. Will it be thumbs up or down, life or death? Fortunately The Prince of Wales doesn’t have the power that the Roman Emperors did. No blood today.
The carbon fibre composite, the multifilament fibre, the water bottles and the towels all crammed in together as the pair prepare to leave the stadium and the raucous crowd behind. The antagonists, still in their pristine whites, march out of the arena carrying their weapons in their large backpacks.
Round splashes of yellow still litter the edges of the battleground but the old will be replaced with the new.
No gladius or retes, no spear or fascina, no blood - to shouts of deuce, forty fifteen, game set and match, the battle was fought.
Strawberries and cream, a glass of Pimms? No blood? Gladiators none the less.

Disappointed
I know what it is like to be disappointed – after all I am Scottish – Euro 2024. Cricket T20 world cup, 6 nations rugby etc. However these disappointments are nothing compared to spending over a year writing The Empress, investing in its editing and publication and then when it becomes available, nobody shows any interest.

The Trilogy
I wonder if anyone can help me understand
2,300 readers have given the first book in the trilogy The Emperor, The Son and The Thief a 5* rating but few seem to go on to read and enjoy the other two books in the series so I do not expect much interest in Volume 4 - The Empress.
Interestingly the 170 readers who have given The Thief 5* do seem to have read all 3 books

The Empress
Well the paperback is now available on Amazon
You might think it a bit pricy at £16.25. The Kindle will follow and be much cheaper. The paperback is 826 pages so should last your whole holiday with one journey to Kermin, Amina, and The Aramin Forest. £3.75 cheaper than 2 400 page books priced at £9.99 each.
