Pssst: You Can Order the Lavender Trade Paperback Now [ETA: And Hardcover]
You can order Lavender’s Blue right now in paperback because Bob uploaded it last night. Warning: It’s $15.99 which seems high for a paperback, but there it is. He’ll load the hardcover up in the next couple of days, I think, but that’s going to be somewhere around $26.00 (I had to lie down when he told me that) so if you want print, the trade is probably the way to go. And the e-book will go live on the 25th for $4.99, so there’s that.
I just can’t believe that book is finally going to be here. Here’s your link.. (No, I haven’t seen it in real life yet, fingers crossed it looks good. Amazon says mine will be here Saturday, but Bob says not until the 17th and Bob is usually right.)
ETA: And the hardcover is live now, too.
Important Announcement
Turns out Emily is a boy. That’s okay, his full name was Emily William since I wasn’t sure, but it was still a shock, though I don’t know why. It wasn’t like the cat had been playing with Barbies and wearing pink. In fact, Emily William is pretty comfortable being gender neutral, possibly because he’s been spayed. (We found out a lot at the vet’s.) Anyway, Emily is taking it in stride, much better than he took the trauma that was the cat carrier. He seems to have forgiven me now, but it took a while.
I knew you’d want to know.
We also found out his weight. That’s thirteen pounds of cat up there. I was impressed. That cat carrier was heavy.

This is a Good Book Thursday, July 6, 2023
I’m sloooowly reading a book that’s part of a series that I love that I read awhile ago and couldn’t get into. So I’m giving it another shot, in a hectic week because sometimes you just have to sit down and veg in the middle of the insanity.
What did you veg with this week?

I have a giant POD in my driveway. Guess what I’m doing this week?
You probably don’t have a giant POD, so what are you doing?

Goodreads is Annoying Me
So seven years ago, Audible got the rights to publish Lavender’s Blue in audio, which of course never happened because we didn’t have a finished book until last month. But they still put a post on Goodreads and five people rated it. In spite of the fact that it didn’t exist. And since we’re still not sure about audio, it’s not going to exist even after the ebook and paper go live. So I asked Goodreads to take down the mistake. And they told me they don’t take down published books, that prepubs are good things. So I wrote back and said, “This is a MISTAKE not a prepub.” Then I went to the listing and changed the title of the book to Lavender’s Blue THIS BOOK DOES NOT EXIST IN AUDIO and left this comment:
Lavender’s Blue THIS BOOK DOES NOT EXIST IN AUDIO by Jennifer Crusie
I don’t know what people thought they were reviewing, this book was never published seven years ago. It’s coming out for the first time at the end of July, but not in audio, but Goodreads won’t delete this. Very annoying. Sorry for the confusion. ARGH. Jenny Crusie
Of all the frustrating things we’ve been going through trying to self-publish this book, this is the most annoying. But I’m calm now. Really I’m fine.
Argh.

Traumatic Day but BUY LINKS!
First I had a giant POD delivered and it took out part of my fence. Then Veronica got a bath and a visit to the vet’s which included shots and ear cleaning, so we’re now sitting in McD’s parking lot while she snarfs down TWO plain apology hamburgers. It seemed like the least I could do.
Emily was supposed to go, too, but there was a small disagreement over the cat carrier. So Wednesday for her. But no bath; I’m not insane.
Also new Buy Links!
Okay, I just love posting the covers, but buy links are good.

Happiness is a Fat Cat Who Watches Everything
My life is nuts right now and is going to continue to be nuts for all of this month. So my moments of Zen are cherished, and one of them is the way my cat, Emily William, has taken over the bay window in my bedroom. There used to be yarn in those cubbies but Emily did not like the way they interfered with her view, so the yarn is gone. I’ll find it eventually. But now when I start to vibrate, I look at Emily’s broad beam serenely surveying the landscape she was once a skinny stray in, and I smile and relax. Emily William is better than Valium.
What made you broadly happy this week?

Argh Author: Deb Blake’s Baba Yaga Novellas
Our own Deb Blake has a collection of novellas from her Baba Yaga series out now. As she explained, “This is three novellas collected into one volume. Berkley put one out as a prequel to the first Baba Yaga book, and the other two between books, but they were never available in print. So when I got the rights back, I figured I’d put them out together as a collection, to make it worth putting them into print form (Amazon only) and ebook (everywhere).”
Known as the wicked witch of Russian fairy tales, Baba Yaga is not one woman, but rather a title carried by a chosen few. They keep the balance of nature and guard the borders of our world, but don’t make the mistake of crossing one of them…
“Wickedly Magical
”
In this prequel to the first novel, Wickedly Dangerous, meet Barbara Yager and discover who and what the Baba Yagas are and what they can do …
“Wickedly Ever After”
Barbara must travel to the Otherworld to ask the Queen for a huge favor. Instead of granting it right off, the unpredictable royal demands that Barbara complete three impossible tasks first. Will she be able to complete them and earn her happily ever after?
“Wickedly Spiritual”
Jazz, the teenaged apprentice to Bella Young, is impatient to come into her full powers so she can help the Broken Riders. But her stubborn determination to skip ahead in her studies will come at a price no one could have foreseen, not even the powerful Baba Yagas.
