Great Illinois Road Ride to Ronald Regan's Alma Mater

July 6, 2020 Still

I am still in Goodfield, Illinois and just finished a great ride with Peggy and Denny T. and their bike buddy Dirk.  We went over rolling hills and past corn and soybean fields.

Dirk said the corn is starting to curl, they are experiencing a drought here.  Wow, seven inches of rain and flooding in Vienna, Illinois and a drought here.  He said if it doesn't rain in the next

Campground Dust and Traveling Pooh

Morning - July 6, 2020

It is quiet and peaceful here this morning.  The birds are singing.  Most of the guests here are still sleeping or soaking in their morning coffee.

If I just look in front of me I see trees and grass.  I am fortunate to have an end of the aisle site at the very busy, sardine can lay-out of the Timberline Campground in Goodfield, Illinois.

When I entered the campground

Memories and Blessings

July 4, 2020

Hey!  I just
remembered that I forgot to tell you something.

When I was driving from Florida (visiting Joan G.) to
Mississippi (to visit Jean H.), I was starting to look for a gas station.  It wasn’t time yet, but if I found a nice one
that looked clean and big enough to maneuver my rig, I might pull over.

I am heading up Hwy 84 in Alabama.  It is hilly and lined with

Tricycling in the Shade with Fellow Trike Riders

Hey there, it is HOT in southern Illinois but shady on the trail.

Thanks to Jeanne, who I contacted through a recumbent trikes group on Facebook, she has visited with me and rode with me and now has offered me an air conditioned porch with wifi so I can reach out to you.

I will see how far I get posting this.  Traveling and riding take up so much time, that I have little time to keep up with

Welcome to Mississippi - Let's Ride!

Hi all you glorious folks that keep me company on my journey by reading this travel journal.

I finally got access to wifi at Jean's and Keith's home in Brandon, MS! (But I must have ran out of time or forgot to post until two days later when I got access to wifi again!)

I am writing this while I sit on their back porch.  Jean keeps urging me to come inside.  There is thunder all around.

Learning What I Like As I Go

6/29/2020

Hello
and Greetings from Blackwater River State Park,

I
expected the Blackwater River in the panhandle of Florida to be dark, but it is
pretty clear in the shallows as it winds leaving lots of clean sandy beaches
along its banks in this area.

I
don’t have WIFI here in the state park, so I am writing this in my word document
and will upload it when I have have access to

Drippin' in Florida

Hey there!

It's hot here!  Hot and humid.  I am sitting writing this in front of a huge fan at the shelter by the pool.  Here the WIFI is strong.  There is no WIFI at my campsite.

My air conditioner works in my Weeroll!  I slept with it on last night.  We will see if I will need to use it again tonight.  There aren't critters at this campground and so I have been leaving my doors open with

Adios and Launch Florida to Wisconsin, COVID-style in my WeeRoll

Hello!  And greetings
from the road!

“In every walk with nature one receives much more than they
seek”

Two days before the launch of this trip I received a birthday
card and gift from Bev.  We had
met and became friends in Junior High School.
Bev makes jewelry and lots of other decorations.  She made me this necklace with the above
saying on it.  What a wonderful launch to

Launching a Trip Now, During COVID

“Remember, remember, this is now, and now, and
now.

Live it, feel it, cling to it.

I want to become acutely aware of
all I’ve taken for granted.”   Sylvia Plath

The last time I posted I was feeling anxious and not very up-beat.  I apologize if I passed on those feelings to you.

I am better now.  I hope you are ok too.

There are several things that turned it around for me.

And Now for the Angst

 June 15, 2020

Hi all,

I hope you are doing well and able to remain positive no matter what life throws your way.

I went for a ride by myself.  I did over 30 miles.  I stopped at the flower shop in Floral City and bought three bouquets to share with folks.  They looked pretty nice on my trike.

Our moment in history, June 2020, feels like we are standing in the middle of a food fight.
