ALEJANDRO CHACOFF nasceu em Cuiabá, em 1983 e mudou-se para os Estados Unidos aos dois anos de idade. Viveu também no Chile, Inglaterra e Argentina, antes de voltar para radicar-se no Rio de Janeiro, onde desde 2016 trabalha como crítico de literatura e ensaísta da revista piauí. É também colaborador de publicações como The New Yorker, n+1, The Guardian e The Atlantic. Apátridas é o seu primeiro romance.
