Allow yourself to discover the world in a new way…

Ray’s message for you today: There’s always room for more laughter, joy, and love… Wait, about love! Valentine is on the way, and I prepared a present for you all, a story about Venus de Milo (read this evening).  The quote of the day: “Be careful about reading health books. Some fine day you’ll die of a misprint.” Markus Herz I have only 3 posts left in February. And I’m already planning the teaser for Mars...

“The Pearl Territory”, chapter 8 #dialogue

Reminder: A group of six (Pain, Bou, Mimo, Alma, Ichi and Goe) has been send to Pearl, the ninth planet. Humans (both advanced and primitive) hope to find a new planet suitable for living and breathing outside. The group of ‘advanced’ humans (Cash, Alexis and Ola) is arriving on Pearl. Goe, Ichi and Alma are spending most of the time inside of space shuttle. They are working with samples from the ninth planet (Pearl).  Pain and Bou...

Nari – ‘two-coloured ghost’

Excerpt (first draft) from my upcoming book for children (6-9 yo) “The Adventures of ghost Nari”. x x x “Do I look like ballerina?” Nari asked her mom. Blue pancakes smeared with yellow jam magically arrived on her plate. Her mom was a real witch when she cooked for her little girl.  Nari was a ghost. A rare ghost with two colors: pink and teal. She lived with her mother under the Boo Bridge, in the...

Book Review “Colder: A Collection of Poetry & Prose”, River Dixon

Winter. Somewhere in North Dakota. River: Do you know what I’d ask Santa if I’d ever met him? Dixon: Hot babe? River: I’d say “I want COLDER”… Dixon: Are you mad, it is already -16,6 F! Why do some young kids dislike poetry? Why do so many people unsatisfied with modern poetry? When Marianne Moore wrote a poem titled “Poetry,” she began it with the words: “I, too, dislike it.” Making a poem was never quite...

The idea of serenity

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” Lao Tzu Imagine being 100 years old and looking back on what was important. What would you have done differently? Now get back where you are… stop crying. Achieving inner harmony and self-acceptance is an effective way to look back with a smile. Inner harmony –...

Read what I write, and like what you read

“I like to read great books, not because I’m hoping to imitate them, but because I want to remind myself how good you have to be to be any good at all. We won’t be read in the light of other writers in our zip code or decade but as we compare to Proust, Joyce, and Nabokov. History has set the bar very high, and one must jump over it, not do the limbo under it.”...

Female demons of Ancient Japan

!! As you know the Kingdom (and demon) at the core of ‘Ninth Planet’ in The Pearl Territory is called Mara. I have no idea why I’ve chosen that name, but then I googled… and found out: x x x  Japanese folklore humors us with stories and tales about scary, powerful demons and monsters that represent EVIL and are set out to terrorize humans that do wrong in their lives. Fictional or not, Japanese Buddhists firmly believe...

Book Review “The King of FU”, Benjamin Davis (illustration Nikita Klimov)

“Life is like a colonoscopy,” claims the author of the book ‘The King of FU’. What happens during colonoscopy, and how to prepare for the sacred action, are the main themes of this magical poem about the Kingdom in which we all live. It seems that Benjamin knows exactly what he is talking about. And Ray loves that. The honesty The openness The sincerity Two testicles + two hands + two horns = the imitation of birth....
