Do The Happy Promo Dance by Freerange Oyster and Vignettes by Luke, ‘Nother Mike and Mary Catelli
Richard Paolinelli Escaping Infinity
Thousands have checked into the Infinity Hotel over the years. None of them have ever checked out.
Peter Childress and Charlie Womack are successful engineers on their way to Phoenix for an important presentation. But one of Charlie’s infamous “shortcuts” has gotten them good and lost once again. As night falls, the pair stumble across the Infinity Hotel and the promise of a meal, fuel and a good night’s sl...

Sorry
We went to Ohio for 2 days to take care of some family matters.
I meant to post last night and again this morning, but I didn’t, and we just now got back home.
I’m going to go in search of coffee, so I can write.

Layers
No matter who you voted for, the government got back in.
I think you need to be from a really old country to fully appreciate this. Kings come in, kings go out. Factions are taken out violently, and all their prominent followers killed to the mewling infant. And yet, year after year, administration after administration, even when you ditch kings and bring in representative government, yes, even then, or even when you bring in socialists, then throw the socialists out, the same bureaucrats,...

The Power To Destroy
There was a time — listen to me, children — when the left had the power to utterly destroy anyone they chose to.
They would descend in a swarm, find some little thing you had said, take it out of context, then pound you with it until you no longer had a job, a marriage, any friends willing to admit to knowing you.
Actually it wasn’t even required that they take something you said and take it out of context. They controlled all the gate keeping positions and a whisper campaign could go out —...

Why You Just Can’t Win By Tom Knighton
Everywhere you go on the internet, it seems, you’ll come across an article decrying something for some kind of -ism. Ghost in the Shell is problematic because Scarlett Johansson is playing a supposedly Asian character…despite the fact that the character looks white as hell in the original anime, for example, but it’s racist to take issue with Idris Elba playing a Norse god.
A better example, however, is the outrage over Netflix’s Iron Fist. The chara...

Emergent
Recently one of the people on the other side of the divide — no, not the one who thought we were being paid by the Russians (Geesh, did he listen to my accent, somehow) — was flapping jaws about how I and my friends will be crawling back and trying to make nice to the establishment of science fiction, because we’ll need to rebuild our careers.
(Does sinal salute with thumb and index pinching nose bridge and head inclined.) Where to start?
First, at least for now — everything flip in a minute...

Sunday Promo for Monday by Freerange Oyster and Monday Vignettes by Luke, ‘Nother Mike and Mary Catelli
*This week is going to be a little weird. Dan and I will be flying to Ohio on family business. However this is just because I didn’t get it on time. Considering I don’t pay the mollusc, I’m just grateful he gets them to me, whenever.- SAH*
Vignettes by Luke, ‘Nother Mike and Mary CatelliSo what’s a vignette? You might know them as flash fiction, or even just sketches. We will provide a prompt each Sunday that you can use directly (including it in your work) or just as an inspiration. You,...

Some Maxims to Live By
Sorry, was waiting for the promo post, which is delayed, and might be tomorrow, and though I could swear I got sent a vignette post, my whole hotmail is in a state of implosion, so it’s possible it got eaten.
There is a motivational post (not bad) for writers going around by someone who is not ah… a friend of my blog or my friends.
And it occurred to me there are skills to making it as a freelance writer that apply to other endeavors and people as well, and it occurred to me that, willing or...

Some Funny Stuff
Because today is the day in which it is not safe to be on the net, and because when I play April Fool’s pranks I do so in a manner everyone knows they’re not true, but are funny — and this month I’ve not had the chance to think up anything — I thought I’d just post some April Fool’s jokes by other people.
Return to San SerriffeReturn to San Serriffe (note a lot of the funny here is the Guardian’s bias even about a fictional nation.)
And of course:
Announcing A Major Upcoming ReleaseAnd thi...

Still Alive
Woke up feeling way worse than I’ve been feeling with upper respiratory thing. Went to doctor. Got antibiotics and also a recommendation to sleep all day. I’m not sure about this. I have a book to finish.
There are some worrying symptoms that might signal a return of the trouble that caused surgery three years ago (Not days as I first typed. Sorry. not working too well).
Anyway, for now I’ve got a prescription and I’m going to try to write at least a little, then go to bed.
I’m sorry. I...
