Fabulous Signing on Saturday

I was at Smith Books in Owen Sound, Ontario this past Saturday, October 10, part of my fall promotional tour for my new novel, From Mountains of Ice. The day was a great success, with us selling about half our stock.

Some of the highlights of the day were meeting with old friend Scott Caple purely by chance, and an enthusiastic young man who had seen the promotional posters at Smith Books, was intrigued, and came in specifically to purchase a signed copy of the book. Talk about effective...

Book Signing Saturday in Owen Sound

Saturday, October 10, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. I'll be in Owen Sound, Ontario at Smith Books, Heritage Place, 1350 16th Street East, signing copies of my new fantasy novel, From Mountains of Ice.

Blurb: Sylvio spent the past decade banished from Simare's court, stripped of land, ancestral home and title - from Minister of National Security to back-country bowyer. But not any bowyer; Sylvio creates bows from laminations of wood and human bone, bows that are said to speak, bows known as the legen...

Virtual Book Tour Visits Pat Bertram

My virtual book tour for my latest release, From Mountains of Ice, today visits the blog of Pat Bertram. You can view the interview at: http://dragonmyfeet.wordpress.com/2009/10/02/interview-with-lorina-stephens-author-of-from-mountains-of-ice/

Pat Bertram is a native of Colorado and a lifelong resident. When the traditional publishers stopped publishing her favorite type of book — character and story driven novels that can't easily be slotted into a genre — she decided to write her own. More...

Virtual Book Tour Launches

My virtual book tour for From Mountains of Ice launched yesterday with the premiere stop at the blog of friend and colleague, Paul Lima, a freelance writer who is an unstoppable force. You can read the interview at: http://paullima.com/blog/?p=810 By all means leave comments and feedback.

Paul has re-issued a book of his own with a fabulous new cover (if I do say so myself -- I designed it), which I'm sure new and intermediate writers of fiction will find inspirational and filled with...

From Mountains of Ice Reviews

Two reviews in for From Mountains of Ice.

The first is from Brent Knowles, who I know from SF Canada. Brent Knowles is a freelance writer and game designer (formerly with BioWare).

From Mountains of Ice, by Brent Knowles

This is a novel by Lorina Stephens.

Full disclosure: I am a member of SFCanada of which Lorina is also a member. I don't really know, other than through SFCanada's very interesting discussion list.

Overall I found the novel to be an interesting journey through a land rife...

Interviewed on Goodreads

Over the past month there has been an open question and answer session with me on the book network, Goodreads. Some interesting and challenging questions were posed regarding my work, my views on writing and publishing. With 54 posts in the feature, it's a little large to post here, but I thought I'd give you the link so you can peruse at your leisure.

Successful Word on the Street

Much to everyone's relief the constant rain that has plagued the Great Lakes Basin this year held off on Sunday for an overcast but otherwise fine day at Toronto's Word on the Street.

Five Rivers' booth, although minuscule and in the Fringe Beat of the festival, presented quite well if I do say so, and certainly drew interest from crowds.
Paul Lima, Kelly Stephens and I met colleagues and visitors throughout the day, made some great new contacts, and sold a few books to boot.
Will Five Rivers...
