Where to begin? I grew up on (now very crowded) Long Island, enjoyed Jones Beach, and went on to get a degree in English at S.U. N.Y., Potsdam, northern New York, where I met my husband. We recently went back there for a college reunion and also to Ottawa, Canada, where he actually proposed to me on the ice on Rideau Canal!
But Virginia is my adopted home and I've learned a thing or two or three about education there, even writing a book about it. I've done many things on my way to being a published author, from freelance journalist to survey taker to even doing the U. S. Census and working at Shoney's!
A cancer survivor, I'm a Master naturalist member and really interested in a healthy environment for animals out in the woods-- and myself

A strange black cat expands to 20 times its size where a mean professor is sitting in the dining hall sipping soup out of a large tureen. She sees the huge cat and says, "Uh, were you that black thing I left out in the cold on Halloween night -- if so, sorry I didn't feed you, cuz I thought you were a dead rat!"(less)

I think I'd like to go the Hogwarts School of Magic (in the Harry Potter books). But I would go as a nonmagical muggle, maybe as a someone interested in unusual phenomena , because I guess they wouldn't let me write about it and expose their world. I would want to meet young Harry (maybe send a note to his relatives to be nicer to him).(less)

Books to read, Fall, Gatlinburg, exercise

I've put up a few more book reviews and I guess I try to be "eclectic," with fiction and nonfiction reviews. It was probably last year that I read "The Man Who Invented Christmas," about Charles Dickens, his career and one famous Christmastime book of his that promoted traditions we still have today. I believe he even "paid" or self published "A Christmas Carol". If you like to read about authors Read more of this blog post »
