From Darkness 2nd Edition is now live
My second edition went live and includes the new cover design. I am happy to say that the new opening combined with pushing back the original two childhood scenes as dream sequences improves the flow.

From Darkness eBook distribution going back to Kindle/Kindle Unlimited only
After lack of sales, I am cutting the From Darkness eBook distribution back to only include Amazon, which will let me add it back to Amazon Unlimited and also enables a few more future free book promotions. Be warned, this might likely also mean that I will have to take down my book excerpts on author website.

Writing progress on INTO DAWN
Update about my writing progress on INTO DAWN:
I am past the half-point, the hardest parts have been done, including laying out the various threads, and I am tremendously excited about it though I am currently slowing down a bit based on needing to focus on parts of my personal life, though I hope to be back to spending more time on writing again soon.
I am still growing as an author (and will surely continue to do so) and can see how the second volume will be an even better read than FROM DARKNESS. Some readers of my first book told me they really started to love it/get into it much more AFTER the first quarter when it branches out much more, away from the focus on Caesar's personal history - INTO DAWN will go straight into the action of the various threads. I am especially excited about the sections featuring a surprise survival's adventure from Cyprus to upper Egypt and the new characters introduced along the way.

Free giveaway of three From Darkness Trade Paperbacks
Snag one of three FROM DARKNESS Trade Paperbacks (value of $16.99 plus free shipping), signed for you by yours truly. To stake your claim, be the first to post a correct answer for one of the three questions below in the comments, or send it to me via the email tool on my author site at www.ruppelt-pdx.com.
1) Ozalkis and Adherbal sign up as auxiliary archers for the Roman Legions in the capital of the Western Numidian Kingdom. What was it called? (hint-it was also the capital of the later Roman Province of Numidia)
2) Aina, Elsed and their father Drestan lost much family and their Aedui nation most of their warriors in this battle against their rivals and a Suebi king named Ariovistus. (hint-the battle was named after an Aedui outpost at the edge of the Vosges mountains).
3) How much debt had a young Julius Caesar accrued before he even became a quaestor (magistrate)? (hint-there is only one ancient writer who mentions a number for this, and it's an incredibly high one)
Google makes this easy - happy hunting!
