Quietude: A Tribute To a Magical Mermaid
Tomorrow, January 9, 2024, I am elated to announce the release of my new book, Quietude. A little background on the book: A few years ago, Adi challenged me to write a book with a female protagonist. I started this little novella and wrote about 4 chapters before putting it aside until inspiration struck me. Cut to late summer of 2023—I had a big idea for a four-part book that I began writing called I’Eternal. My goal was to make this book my magnum opus (I know, pretty bold!) and I began in earnest writing. I grappled with this really […]

The Little Red Book
The following is an excerpt from my new novella, Quietude, available on Amazon January 9, 2024 ⚛︎ “As you start along the way, the way appears.” The cover was torn—the edges were tattered. Everyone wondered what was so precious inside Rumi’s Little Red Book. Those who took notice of her would watch her deliberately jotting notes on the blank pages within, completely absorbed in her own thoughts. No one thought to ask her about it. Instead, people told stories about the book—none of which were true. The book was given to her as a gift, the occasion unrecorded by history. …

The Fisherman
The following is an excerpt from my new novella entitled, “Quietude” available on Amazon January 9, 2024. “The wound is the place where light enters you.” ⚛︎ When she was a very young girl, Rumi seldom left her mother’s side. Rumi simply called her, “Ma.” On one occasion in her early life, she was separated from Ma in the marketplace of Nazaré amongst the hordes of people trying to buy goods and provisions. For two hours, she searched for Ma while panic gripped her heart. “Where could she have gone? Wonder if I never find her again?” Rumi wondered, torturing …

Quietude: A Prologue
An excerpt from my new novella, Quietude, due out January, 2024! Prologue “The quieter you become the more you are able to hear.” Many believed Rumi to be quite simple; in reality, her silence spoke of a wisdom that few understood. She came into this world a stranger, and she left as a stranger. It was rumored that she remained in silence for more than five years before eventually ending her fast on the spoken word. When she finally broke her silence her first words were less than profound. “I’m quite thirsty,” she said. “May I have some water?” …

Farewell to the Head Witch in Charge
As we get older, death is supposed to be easier to understand, being a by-product of life itself. Death is supposed to be less of a surprise as we age, but yet, it still is. Death still surprises us. I find myself writing a lot more obituaries lately or maybe the more modern term, Celebration of Life Missives. More surprising still, each one I write gets harder. I’ve written an obituary for my father, mother, brother, sister, two friends, Adi’s grandparents and now…Adi’s mom, Sheri Lynn Davis. She passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 11:28 pm after being ill …

Infinity Grounding Meditation
Adi is often the catalyst for bringing me many of the life-changing practices that I incorporate into my daily routine. It usually starts with me resisting the idea, only to eventually give in and then become somewhat rigid in my adherence to my new daily ritual. What starts with her gentle nudging eventually manifests into my dogmatic daily application of the practice. Enter, the Infinity Grounding Meditation Walk. Adi explained the benefits of incorporating this into our daily routine and after some initial resistance I became intrigued by the possibilities that awaited us on the other side of this practice. …

The Power of Purpose
“Behind every success there must be a purpose and that is what makes purpose so important to your future.”—Albert E.N. Grey The Power of Purpose: I’ve been thinking a lot about purpose lately. A great many of us long to find our purpose and purpose takes on even more meaning as we get older. In the grand tapestry of life, each of us is woven with unique threads of potential, passion, and dreams. As we embark on the journey towards success, we often hear stories of individuals who have achieved greatness against all odds. But what truly sets apart these …

Unlocking the Secrets of the Universe
So few of us are taught that there are fundamental laws that govern our Universe. I have written about this in the past and even wrote a book about the 12 Universal Laws (available on Amazon), so for me, I happen to think that these might be the most important lessons we could ever learn—far more important than what is taught in high school or college. I believe fully that if people understood these laws more intimately, they would overcome major self-created challenges that hinder their success and happiness. It is important to understand, no matter how much you may …

Second Chapter
Second chapters are often interesting and far different from our first chapter. The first time I walked onstage to perform standup comedy was May 6, 1989. I was terrified and incidentally, I was also terrible in my first outing. Regardless, I was hooked and continued to perform as many times as I could at the local open mic night. I would love to say success came quickly—it didn’t. It took a long time being very bad before I got “kinda” good. After working diligently and never giving up, I was asked to become the house MC at a local club …
