I’m honestly not looking forward to telling Ro that I’m “dating” her troll of a twin brother.

“Well, if you don’t want to tell her—I could always do it.” He shrugs like it’s whatever if he’s the one who tells Rose, but I can see the devious spark in his eyes. “We are twins, after all.”

That’s so irrelevant.

“No, I’ll tell her,” I assure him, knowing he’ll mess this up somehow, “just not…yet.”

One thing at a time. I’m pretty sure that I’m still in shock from him finding the “love letter” and my horrible idea of becoming his “girlfriend” I can’t handle all of that AND Rose knowing about it. I need some time.

“Messy Kessey,” Alex says, widening his eyes in a mocking way, “are you suggesting a secret relationship between the two of us?” His voice becomes hushed with that last part as the corner of his mouth tilts up, and my nerves are buzzing because I’m obviously getting more irritated at him by the second.

“Don’t say it like that,” I snap at him, unlocking my locker and opening the door.

He rests an arm over the top of my locker door and tilts his head to the side. “Say it like what?”

His brown eyes watch me expectantly and now my heart is racing, a sure sign I’m about to explode at him. I rush to grab whatever I need from my locker—before everything decides to tumble out—and then remind myself that I’m supposed to like him. I can’t lose my crap (well, not entirely, anyway). I have to act like a lovesick girl who’s been given the opportunity to date her longtime crush…even if she actually hates the guy.

No pressure.
