Upcoming Historical Romance

Upcoming Historical Romance

Today, as you’re reading this (if you’re reading it on the day it releases, March 9th), I will be at the Cross Cancer Institute all day, having a CVC line inserted.

What’s that, you say?

A CVC line is a big version of the PICC line I had inserted around Christmas time.  The PICC line was to inject antibiotics to counter the infection I’d developed around the surgical incision running up my neck and the back of my head.

The PICC line was a very fine line that was inserted in my upper arm and ran up through a vein through my shoulder and down toward my heart, so that the antibiotics were delivered directly to where they were needed.

The PICC line saved me having an IV inserted in my hand or arm, and having it block up every few days, requiring another IV to be inserted elsewhere.  To say nothing of the inconvenience of having all that hard plastic and tubing sticking out and getting bumped as I went about my day.

I’m having another line inserted today so that in a week or so, the Cross staff can harvest my stem cells.  They can’t pull stem cells through the tiny PICC line, so this big brother version is inserted into my chest and down the vein to near my heart.  It actually has two tubes emerging from it.  One for taking blood (and the stem cells that will be in it) and the other for injecting whatever they need to give me.

This is all prep work rolling up to a stem cell transplant in April (I think — date is to be confirmed), which will hopefully be the final treatment that helps extend my remission period for many years, rather than a couple of years.

So I’m sitting in my favourite recliner right now, writing this post ahead of time.

Did you miss out on grabbing a copy of His Outrageous Proposal in the Kickstarter Campaign last month?  Now the Kickstarter campaign is over, His Outrageous Proposal is available for pre-order at your favourite bookstore (even mine).

His Outrageous Proposal is book 4 of the Scandalous Family–The Victorians series and will be released to all bookstores on June 1.

It will be released a week earlier on Stories Rule Press, which is my site.

Buy from me at SRP!
Buy from you favourite retailer!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Thank you, Everyone!

Thank you, Everyone!

A very quick post to say thank you to everyone who backed the Great Family Kickstarter.

The project funded in 12 hours and reached the second stretch goal, which means everyone who backed the project at any level gets their rewards and also gets the first stretch goal:  A copy of the Contemporary Romance boxed set and the historical romantic suspense Sherlock Holmes duology boxed set.  Plus, for the second stretch goal, they will receive a copy of the Four Awesome Threesomes boxed set.  So, three boxed sets, plus whatever books are a part of their tier.

Kickstarter will now start processing everyone’s payment, and once they have all been cleared, we will start delivering the goodies.

Thanks once again.  This has been a great Kickstarter!

Cheers,

I need 30 or so readers…

I need 30 or so readers…

My Kickstarter project, “The Great Family — Tracy Cooper-Posey’s Victorian Romance Mega-Series” ends at midnight tomorrow.  If thirty or so readers back the campaign, even at the lowest level, that will kick itup to the next stretch goal, and everyone will receive another boxed set stretch goal reward.

This is also the last chance you have to get a copy of the new book 4 in the Scandalous Family — the Victorians series, His Outrageous Proposal..  Once the Kickstarter project closes, you won’t be able to obtain the book until it releases on the retail stores in June.

The campaign has funded, which means you’re guaranteed to get the goodies and bonuses, and it has also reached the first stretch goal (as I write this) — which also means you get two additional boxed sets, no matter which tier you choose.

Also, I should point out something important.

A reader contacted me, very confused about Kickstarter, and a bit concerned about how much it cost.  After a few rounds of emails, I tumbled to the fact that she thought the tiers listed on the Kickstarter project were monthly payments.

And yeah, paying that much a month would be horrendously expense.  Even I wouldn’t pay that!!

But Kickstarter is not like Patreon.  It is a one time only deal.  The prices listed on the tiers are one-time payments.  At the end of the project, if there are enough backers saying they will pay whatever tier they’ve chosen and the sum of their promises is more than the project’s goal, then the project is funded and everyone gets the bonuses and goodies for their tier, plus any stretch goal rewards.

The funding goal set by the project creator is usually set at a level that will pay for any expenses needed to provide the rewards, plus a bit of a profit.

That’s why Kickstarter is such a great place to pick up books cheaper than you’ll ever find them on retail sites.  And I *love* the stretch goal rewards.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I recently backed a Kickstarter for about $50 USD and ended up with $1,200 in stretch goal rewards, along with a dozen books…and that was quite beside the five book bundle that I was really interested in.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that Kickstarter is not like Patreon and that these are one time payments.

Here’s the blurb for Hit Outrageous Proposal:

Alice loves her family, but longs for independence…

Lady Alice Thomasina Balfour is the acknowledged daughter of Dane, Duke of Wakefield, but her real father is Benjamin Hedley, her mother’s secret and lifelong partner. Her third father is Stephen Spearing, Esq., who is Dane’s secret partner. Alice is torn between her beloved family and their expectations and her need for the independence young, modern women are beginning to enjoy, which she believes she can have if she opens her own shop. She needs funds to do so, but as a woman, cannot take a loan with any bank. Her family for once, are not supportive.

Garrick Lawrence Wortham is not a peer, but thanks to his family’s fortune and upper-class status, he is expected to marry into the peerage and solidify the family’s reputation. After refusing yet another debutante, Garrick feels obliged to bow to his father’s wishes to fund and manage a new, shocking project; the opening of a retail establishment by the daughter of the Duke of Wakefield, a peer whose family have fallen into disgrace and social ruin. But managing the wilful woman’s new business venture is more taxing than he expected. It doesn’t help that the lovely Lady Alice is prickly, defensive and hiding secrets that, as he learns more, brings him to make an outrageous proposal…

Have a look at the fabulous images of Alice and Garrick here

Tell your friends about the Kickstarter, to help nudge it to the next stretch goal, so everyone can get more bonuses.

Enjoy.

Two More Kickstarers Worth Checking Out

Two More Kickstarers Worth Checking OutWhat the Ravens Sing

This one immediately caught my eye because of the historical setting — pre WWI, up to the end of WWI.

Count me in!

On top of that, it’s a fantasy story.  🙂

The author, Jacquelyn Benson, is looking for funding to create the last audiobook in the series.  If audiobooks is not your thing (it isn’t mine), you can still pick up the books and hardcovers in the different tiers.

Worth a look if you like historical fantasy.   https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jbensonink/665118216/

Faerie Hearts Collection by Anthea Sharp

More fantasy — more firmly entrenched in Romanceland this time.  Anthea Sharp’s fantasy series is offered as a single omnibus deluxe edition (and you should see the illustrations!).

Check this one out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fiddleheadpress/faerie-hearts?ref=9xdbub

My own Kickstarter is only a few days away from closing.  And it’s also creeping up toward the second stretch goal (the first stretch goal — a pair of boxed sets — is locked in).

The fourth book of the Scandalous Scions — The Victorians, His Outrageous Proposal — is only available via the Kickstarter project.  It won’t be available on retail stores until June.

And if you’re not familiar with the series at all, you can pick up one of the books for free to check out the series for yourself, before backing the project.

Once the Kickstarter campaign closes on the 28th, these prices and bundles will no longer be available anywhere.

Check it out here:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/storiesrulepress/the-great-family?ref=8npepu&token=8cab1cdf

Enjoy.

A Curse of Darkness — Gods & Monsters Special Omnibus Edition

A Curse of Darkness — Gods & Monsters Special Omnibus Edition

More Kickstarter fun today.  Another project that looks super interesting and cool.  Author TJ King is looking to fund an omnibus (that’s the same thing as a boxed set by a single author, but in print), on an already successful, sexy urban fantasy series.

What’s interesting about this project is that a) It has already funded, so if you back it, you know you’ll get your goodies.

And b) the project has reached its fourth stretch goal — so extra goodies to pick up, there, too.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/authorjjking/a-curse-of-darkness-greek-gods-and-monsters-special-edition

You might also want to check out my own Kickstarter project.  Like King’s, above, my project has also funded, and has also reached a stretch goal (two boxed sets).  The project is heading for the second stretch goal (another boxed set), and there’s still a few days left to run.

Just for fun, I’m adding the project’s welcoming video here for you to check out.

I was asked in the Reader’s Hangout if the narrator of the video was me.  Yes, that’s my “dulcet” tones you can hear.  🙂

If you like historical romance, check the project out here

Enjoy.

James Cameron Paid for Research to Prove Jack Wouldn’t Have Survived

James Cameron Paid for Research to Prove Jack Wouldn’t Have Survived

For the four people on the planet who haven’t seen Titanic, there are spoilers coming up.

For romance lovers, it’s probably one of the more jarring notes in the movie Titanic when Jack and Rose both try to climb onto the floating door, only to nearly capsize it.  So Jack hangs off the edge, instead, and as a result, dies of exposure.

Viewers have been insisting for years that there were dozens of alternatives the couple could have taken to get Jack up and out of the water.

Director James Cameron has just as stubbornly insisted that no, there wasn’t. And if there was, Jack still would have died because of other complications and physical impossibilities.

Recently, Cameron paid for research to establish if he was, in fact, right.  And it turns out, he might have been.  (But you have to keep in mind who paid for the research).

Ultimately, though, there is a throw-away quote in the original article I’ve linked to, here, from James Cameron.  He points out that no matter what the physics involved in Jack’s demise, in story terms, Jack had to die.  It was the theme of the entire movie — loss and heartbreak, and facing a world that has abruptly changed.

So even if physics had been on Jack’s side, the writers would have had to find another way for him to die.

In the movie, Jack dies saving Rose.  Saving another, especially someone you love, makes one’s death meaningful. So perhaps we should let Jack continue to be the hero he is and stop cursing James Cameron for ruining a perfectly good romance.  🙂

Enjoy!

More Goodies and Bonuses — and they’re not mine

More Goodies and Bonuses — and they’re not mine

There are a tone of romance Kickstarter projects running this month, which is understandable, it being February and all.  Kickstarter are also highlighting a lot of romance projects, but I thought I’d pick out some of the more interesting ones to share with you.

I’m getting hooked on backing Kickstarter campaigns.  I love all the extras you get out of them, along with the book you wanted in the first place.

Here’s three campaigns you should check out.

Kingdom of Curses and Shadows Collector Edition Omnibus

This is straight fantasy…and I love the cover!  Don’t delay checking this one out as it closes in the next 24 hours.  Click here to find it.

The White Sails Series: Special Hardback Omnibus

This campaign has been described as “If Bridgerton and Pirates of the Caribbean had a love child””.  Pick up a single volume of the whole series in a special edition hard cover.

There’s only a few days left in this project, too.   Click here to check it out.

The Highland Warrior Chronicles Special Edition: Books 1-4

If you like your highlanders and ancient historical romances, this is the one for you.  Plus, it has already funded, AND already reached a stretch goal, so there’s bonuses there you’ll automatically receive no matter what level you back the project.  (This is half the fun of Kickstarters!)

Click here to check it out.

Plus, Historical Roamnce From Me.

There is, of course, my own Kickstarter project that is running at the moment.  “The Great Family: Tracy Cooper-Posey’s Victorian Romance Mega-Series” was funded in less than twelve hours, so you’re now guaranteed to receive the books you sign up for.

Don’t forget that the new book this campaign is helping me release, His Outrageous Proposal, won’t be available at the bookstores until June.  If you’d rather get hold of a copy now, than wait, then you can back the campaign at the lowest level and just get the book.

Or if you’re not familiar with the series at all, you can pick up a bundle of books to start you off.

Check the project out here.

Enjoy.

SFR with Four Armed Heroes

SFR with Four Armed Heroes

Love your SFR?

I tripped over a post on Amazon Stories the other day; “10 Science Fiction Romance Novels with Four Armed Heroes“.  I had to stop and re-read the headline.  Twice.

Four arms???

I’m shaking my head a bit as I write this, still, because I keep learning about new niche and micro-niche romance sub-genres that have apparently been around for a few years (as there’s a ton of books already released in them), that I, a professional romance writer, have never heard of before.

But that’s how big Romancelandia is.  There are section of the map that are being redrawn, developed and opened up every day.

It takes serious work to stay on top of all the new niches.

Four armed SFR heroes is a new one for me.  And honestly, I don’t think I will be reading or writing one of these in the near future.

On the surface, it doesn’t hold any appeal for me at all, because the only reason I can think of for featuring a four-armed hero is to enhance the sex scenes.

And that’s…well, call me old-fashoined (or just “old” will fit, too! LOL!), but I’d rather have four arms providing the heroine with pleasure that come from two heroes.  Not one.

But I’d thought that I’d draw your attention to this new-ish category, because half the fun of reading is dipping into something new and a little bit different and trying it on for size.

If the four arm thing doesn’t turn you off, you may have a new favourite sub-genre to explore.  Start with the article, above, which will give you some authors to explore.

Enjoy!
