The book of PSALMS in Rhyme
SHORT STORY BEHIND THIS BOOK (publication date 30.08.20):
To translate the whole book of Psalms into rhyming format is such a privilege. When God asked me to carry out this task (yes, he does speak to me), I firstly felt honoured, which was instantly followed by challenged! In total, there are 150 chapters, with a combined total of 2,461 verses. When I first started writing this book I was already writing other books and I wondered how I would possibly cope with even more writing? Well, the answer to that is, it wasn't done in my own strength, incredibly God did it through me!
In the first week, I managed to do just 20 verses and I did a quick calculation that it would take me nearly two and a half years. I simply accepted it and said, "OK God, let's do this!" He also told me that everything that I have done before, was in preparation for this task. In week 2, I managed an incredible 133 verses. The output continued to increase, with 235 verses achieved in the highest week. This was way beyond my expectations, even though I know nothing is impossible for God. The more that I wrote, the nearer I drew to God and words were pouring into my head. I would read a verse and immediately know the rhyming translation that would work. I honestly believe that God intervened and wrote most of this for me. I get to have my name on the cover, but I give God the glory for this. As I started to read it back and edit, there were times when I honestly couldn't believe what I was reading, had I written this? No, God wrote it through me!
The Psalms are so powerful. They were written to be sung or read out aloud. This rhyming version is a joy to hear and it was such a blessing to work on. My prayer is that it is also a great blessing to you and all that read it.

A reader review of Rhyme Time

It doesn't seem proper, to write my own review. So instead, what I will do is post a review that someone else wrote on another site for this book and she made me cry.
In this assembly of short poems using ordinary, everyday words, Brendon has given us a raw collection carrying emotions, thoughts, and reflections on a journey of adventure that scales heights and plumbs depths with rare honesty and a rap artist’s punch.
There are loves songs, laments, cries of protest. Probing questions designed to make you think. Expressions of grief and delight, soaring hopes, dashing experiences, all grounded in reality, looking at the sometimes cruel parts of life we don’t want to acknowledge.
That’s when you remember the hurting parts of our world and are urged to question direction, purpose, identity and offer a prayer to find ways to make a difference.
Buzzing throughout these words is the light bulb realisation fresh from personal discovery that these words of ours have power, words are power, and they come with purpose. That purpose is reinforced with rhyme and rhythm, leaving a resonance within beating a soldier’s muster to join the fight for life.
That’s because Brendon longs to share what has helped and saved him from destruction and despair, from crippling traps and snares, from lockdown to breakout, to burst through into a love of life, with a gift of hope to enjoy a world of challenge.
With and without doubt, carefully and recklessly explored, Brendon rejoices to chart the many ways relationship with his Creator has made all the difference. The relationship factor with Jesus simmers in each and every one of these poems and
their cutting edge reaches out offering a lifeline, a telescope, a magnifying glass, a dare and most of all a companion’s hand along the way.
Here, let the ordinary become extraordinary and in Brendon’s own words “take time to care…be valued, belong”

In at number 42
Well, I never did. This is not a long blog, but I just wanted to blow my trumpet and shout out. My new book, MIMICS is straight in at number 42, on the Amazon Best Sellers for Religious Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I am SHOCKED, but with a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
