Prayer Request
If you would, please pray for a friend and fellow parishioner of mine - Lynda. She went in to have gallstones removed and they accidentally cut her liver. She just had another operation in which the doctor told her that her chances of survival were 50-50. Apparently the operation went pretty well, but she is not out of the woods. She has two young children and one in highschool. Very faithful Catholic.Father hear our prayer for her complete healing and recovery and her return to her family. Mother Mary, pray for her, her caregivers, and all who love her! We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

More Martyrs to Islamic fanaticism
in Egypt.
I'm with Kathy Shaidle. Let's hear less about "Islamophobia" and more about Islamonausea. Everytime some Bronze Age jerk slaughters a bunch of innocent people we are a) warned about Islamophobia and b) subjected to Muslim whining about persecution. It is a religion that is stuffed to the gills with self-pitying bullies.
The only objection I have to Shaidle's piece is that the guy in the video she posts does the standard cowardly sleight of hand whereby the atheist starts out attacking Islam and winds up saying "If you've seen one Abrahamic religion, you've seen 'em all". He does this while sitting there as the beneficiary of a Christian civilization that, among other things, established the right to free speech and the science upon which his Youtube broadcast depends. I wish atheists had the integrity to acknowledge the massive debt they owe the Christian tradition instead of just parasitically feeding off it.

I remember...
when it was the Commies who believed in exporting their revolutionary ideology via a theory of perpetual ideological war. I also remember when it was the Commies who taught that the ends justify whatever means they chose. Apparently the Thing that Used to Be Conservatism is now conserving that.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain
...and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them; and he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Begone, Satan! for it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'" (Matthew 4:8-10)God grant that, as the failure that is the life of Hugh Hefner draws to a close, he finally refuses the Faustian bargain, repents, exits his fundamentalist compound forever, and finds life and happiness.
