Hop...
sucks.
"An act of aggression against childhood". Yeah. Sounds promising. Steve Greydanus performs the autopsy.

Hey Yakima! Our Loss is Your Gain
Bp. Tyson to Yakima.
He's a good egg. I've met him and heard him speak.
On an unrelated note: "Seatown"?
I've lived in Seattle all my life and I have never ever heard it called "Seatown". Sounds like a non-Seattleite attempt to sound hip and insidery, like people who say "Frisco" (thereby instantly identifying themselves as "not from San Francisco").
Anyway: Yakima, you've got a good bishop on the way.

Heh!
Apropos my latest bleat of complaint over at Inside Catholic:

It's not Sacred Tradition. It's just a moderately unsuckish method for keeping power from being concentrated in the hands of too few fallen men. (I'm speaking of our system of checks and balances, not pure democracy, which is mob tyranny). The worst form of government, except for all the others, according to Churchill. So don't get too misty with sob stuff about "the wisdom of the voters."

God help Japan
It's Chernobyl. So tragic. Father, help them get it under control and end this. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Remember..
The sexier the biblical archaeology find...
...the more dubious.
And dial that up to 11 when it nears Holy Week.
Now abide these seven elements of Modern Science: Time, Space, Matter, Energy, Power, Prestige, and Funding. But the greatest of these is Funding.

And they say Environmentalism is not a Religion
UN wants to give "Mother Earth" same rights as humans.
Chesterton famously points out that wherever there is nature worship, men behave unnaturally and wherever there is animal worship there is human sacrifice. Raise nature to the level of human beings and you only end by lowering human being to the level of dogs and pigs.

New blog!
A reader writes:
I wanted to pass along information about the new blog (address below) of my parish priest, Father Edward Namiotka. In my position as a pastoral musician, I've worked with Father Ed for the better part of the last twenty years, and I personally know him to be a very honorable, dedicated priest and an inspirational writer and homilist.Check thou it out!
A group of his parishoners, including myself, have suggested that Father Ed put some of his excellent homilies and other writings on a personal blog, purchase his own domain name, and set up Facebook and Twitter accounts, which he has recently done. By asking well known bloggers such as yourself to link to him, his supporters hope to increase traffic to his blog and to raise his websites to higher prominence in search engine protocol. We wish to share this wonderful priest whom we have been blessed to know with the Catholic blogosphere.
I'm hoping that you could encourage your readers to visit his blog. I believe that they'll find his insight and perspective on the Catholic faith to be very inspiring. Thank you so much for considering this.
Sincerely,
Father Ed Namiotka's blog:

Prehistoric Human Brain Found Pickled in BogScience: horrifyingly cool.
A brain in near-perfect condition is found in a skull of a person who was decapitated over 2,600 years ago."
