Scott P. Richert writes...

Hope all is well. I thought your readers might appreciate a little e-mail reminder I've set up for the Novena to the Holy Ghost:

All they have to do is sign up today, and they'll get an e-mail each day with links to the prayers for that day, along with other material on the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, Pentecost, etc.

Oh, and just in case any of your readers takes umbrage at the use of the title "Holy Ghost" rather than "Holy Spirit," here's a little piece I wrote a couple years ago explaining why I call it the Novena to the Holy Ghost
:
Check thou it out!

Day 3 of the Tin Cup Rattle

Recently, you got to join my shuffling horde of zombie donut eating lickspittles, discuss the God King and his wars of Hope and Change, ponder Godless Randian Conservatism, contemplate the triumph of system over person, tell my acting sucks, hear from the bishop of Tripoli, and gab about Sarah Palin's diabolical genius for playing with the minds of reporters. And, of course, there's the convivial atmosphere of the comments boxes where you can argue about Stephen Colbert, quibble over Latin, compare notes on Chaucer or the Manchurian Candidate and (who knows?) meet the man or woman of your dreams!

I ask you: Where else can you get quite what you get here? So if you want more of it, click on the PayPal button to the right and help CAEI stay on the air and our kids stay clothed, housed, transported and fed. You can either make a straight donation by clicking on the donate button on the left rail or, if you like to get something for your money, you can buy my books and tapes (autographed even!). And if you'd rather not do the PayPal thang, feel free to email me and ask for my snailmail address. I'll happily take a check instead.

Oh! And don't forget! I am ready, willing and able to come speak for your parish, conference or group (as I am doing up at the Northwest Catholic Family Education Conference here in Seattle on June 10-11, and June 30-July 3 at the Familiaris Consortio Conference, Lac Sainte Anne, Edmonton, Alberta.).

PS: By the way, I'm a) swamped with a big project today and much of next week. I hope for more of this because it's made it possible for me to avoid rattling the Tin Cup for over a year. But at present, things are very tight. Thanks for your patience!

Sarah Palin Continues Diabolical Plan

In the latest development from Sarah Palin's National Narcissist-Flipping-Off-the-Press tour, Palin unveiled the results of a secret cloning experiment:

Palin, who appears to have no higher purpose than drawing attention to herself, making a lot of money, and pissing off press who hate her but cannot quit her, has now created a perfect clone of herself so that she can have somebody to love when she grows tired of loving herself. The clone's duties will include wandering around aimlessly and drawing a large contingent of press after her to hate her very being and obsessively report on her movements. She may also be tasked with giving speeches that fill supporters with schadenfreude toward reporters who make fools of themselves covering her and/or the real Palin's movements and random pronouncements on things.

Palin supporters are fired with hope for a Palin/Palin '12 ticket. Representatives of the Mainstream Media are reportedly reduced to typing gibberish as well as complaining that Palin's Svengali-like grip on their hearts and minds is endangering them by forcing them to follow her around instead of exercising free will and getting lives. Andrew Sullivan is now suspicious that Trig may actually be the child of a Palin clone and is calling for a Congressional investigation while screaming that invisible spiders are crawling all over him--"spiders with the face of Sarah Palin! Get them off me! Get them off me!"
Me: I'm amazed that people take this woman seriously. Bully for her for choosing to mother Trig. But Presidential material? Are you kidding me?

PS: I will give her this though. She has enough native common sense that she is beginning to bridle against the neo-con programming she was fed (perhaps due to her hostility to Obama, who is on board with that programming):
Ms. Palin also raised questions about U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan in the wake of Afghan President Hamid Karzai's insistence on a change in fighting strategy. "If the host country doesn't want us there, we need to re-evaluate our involvement there," she said. "The conditions have changed in Afghanistan."
Good for her. I hope she figure out the rest of our Empire could stand a good dismantling too.

On the other hand, her well-nigh wilful numbskullery and turning of ignorance into some sort of anti-intelleckshual virtue against all them pointy headed East Coast types just make me cringe. Here is The Woman Palinites Think Should be the Leader of the Free World on Paul Revere:
He who warned, uh, the…the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringin' those bells and um by makin' sure that as he's ridin' his horse through town to send those warnin' shots and bells that uh we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free…and we were gonna be armed.
A few years ago, conservatives would have had hysterics at the dreadful pass our educational system had come to if this had been a high school essay on the American Revolution. Now Palin is hailed as a patriot and political wunderkind by her cultists for babbling this incoherent rubbish.

Bishop of Tripoli Begs for Us to Stop Blowing Up His People

The missiles are falling everywhere and, unfortunately, not only affect military zones, but also civilian areas" — Bishop of Tripoli: NATO bombs a Coptic church. Civilian Casualties. Mentioned is "the active presence of more than three thousand migrant Filipino Catholics, working in different hospitals in the city and throughout the country," who "attend Mass every week in the cathedral despite the bombings" and "represent the heart of the local Catholic community and are a testimony of love and service to the Libyan people who suffer."

"The only strength that is left is faith to understand the mystery of this suffering" — Bombs are becoming our Calvary," says Tripoli bishop. "NATO remains loyal to its bombs. Why aren't other venues tried? It appears no one wants a peaceful solution to the conflict."
But, of course, as all real Americans know, these peacenik Ivory Tower bishops know nothing of war like real TV-watching suburbanites who have seen "Saving Private Ryan" and "Band of Brothers". And besides, now that Obama is the standard bearer for nation-building through firepower, the "anti-war left" is as quiescent and content as the End to Evil Right. No more war protests from them. It might get in the way of all that Hope and Change. All agree (except for complete kooks like Kucinich and Paul) that our latest adventure in building the Great Society abroad is The Right Thing to Do--or at least not so bad that we should risk dethroning the God King who will, any minute now, deliver Hope and Change.

China's War...

...against women and girls is fanatically supported by western pro-abort "feminists". Globally, the chief harvest of western pro-abort feminism is the death of females on a massive scale.

Classic Triumph of System over Persons

Obama's solicitor general has a system to which his whole being is wedded: Obamacare. The goal of his life is to make that system regnant. If actual human persons get in the way of the system, then by thunder, man was made for the law, not the law for man. Your purpose in life is to make the system work, even if it destroys you and your family. The system is all! All hail the System and our Wise and Just God King who created it!
