Who Knew?
Every experience we have in life prepares us for something else. This includes both the good and the bad experiences. I grew up in an abusive home. I hated my parents, my life, and I hated God for putting me in that family. What I couldn’t know at the time was, this experience prepared me to be able to connect with kids. Today, I have the privilege of speaking to kids in detention centers and foster homes. The kids don’t see me as just another old person telling them what to do. When I describe what my life was like as a child, they see me as one of them. We connect. This brings me more inner joy than anything I do. Oh, who knew? God knew what He was planning for my life. And God isn’t like us. He doesn’t hold a grudge toward me for laying into Him when I was a hurting, angry kid…
