NaNoWriMo ~ Week #2

When you make plans, things rarely go the way you want them to. Trust me, I know from experience.

Hello awesome nerds and happy Saturday everyone.

We’re literally halfway through November and NaNoWriMo, and it’s a good thing I managed to write that much during the first week of the month because this week was crazy as Hell!

Long story short, the only free afternoons I have are on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. And those the days when I try to write the most. For otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to write at all.

I think I’ve mentioned it in a previous post, but I’m currently working to two academies, which means that I return home at 11pm on Tuesdays and at 9pm on Thursdays. This, naturally, doesn’t leave me with enough spare time to write as much as I want to. Plus I feel so very tired from all the things I have to do during the day, that all I want to do is have a shower or bath, read a good book or watch a movie on Netflix, and then go straight to bed.

Mondays are slightly better. I get home at 8pm, which means I have approximately three hours to work on my writing project, before my tiredness gets the best of me.

And it would’ve been great if it was just that… But alas! My neighbours think they can do whatever they want, whenever they want. Like right now, for instance. It feels like we live next to a construction site, just because they pretend they’re doing something in their backyard. And please note that they’re the only ones being THAT NOISY 24/7, all around our block.

So, with all that being said, let me tell you that I only managed to write 10k words this past week. Which is fine. I can still manage to write 50k words by the end of the month, but if things continue being as hectic and loud as they are right now, I don’t know if I finally achieve my goal.

All I can hope for is that a snowstorm will strike and I’ll be stuck at home for at least a week, being able to do nothing else but write.

How’s your writing going so far, dearies? What plans do you have for the weekend?

Thank you all for stopping by once again. It means the world to me and I want you to know that I most certainly don’t take your presence here for granted.

Have a wonderful weekend, y’all.

Till next time… Toodles!

Scribd: My newest best friend!

Reading multiple books at a time can be a blessing and a curse. That’s why audiobooks can get really handy, especially when a) you’re trying to overcome a reading slump and b) you can read wherever you are, whenever you want.

And that’s the reason why I subscribed to Scribd!

Hello awesome nerds and happy Thursday everyone!

It’s been exactly two weeks since I found out about Scribd, and let me tell you, this is the best thing that could actually happen to a bookworm like me considering how November is going so far.

Long story short, I started tutoring to a new academy this past Tuesday, which means that I only have Wednesday free in the afternoon. I work an average of twelve hours every day, my day job and my tutoring classes combined, which means that I don’t have as much time as I want to in order to read, and more importantly write, considering that we’re already two weeks in NaNoWriMo. In addition to the fact that I have quite the commute every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, this leaves me with no other option than… audiobooks!

Let me tell you, this whole thing has turned driving to a completely new experience.

Not only I’ve managed to finish an eARC and an audiobook so far, but I have also managed to overcome, more or less, my reading slump.

I’m currently reading (physically), Six of Crows, by Leigh Bardugo, and The Beautiful, by Renée Ahdieh, but I’m also listening to the Sea Witch, by Sarah Henning, and The Raven Boys, by Maggie Stiefvater.

I know what you’re gonna say… “How can you focus on four different books?”

Well, that’s the beauty of reading both on physical form and listening to an audiobook. It helps you distinct the stories, considering that, when listening to an audiobook, the narrator is probably different and they know were to emphasise, how to add some more suspense and intrigue you in order to keep listening to the book. On the other hand, reading a physical copy is as cozy as ever, especially now that the nights have grown chillier and there’s nothing better than a good book and a hot mug of chocolate.

I know it may seem impossible for some people to read more than one book at a time, but I’ve figured out that if I want to have content for my blog, and if I want to keep up with both the “older” books and the new releases, I need to find a solution. And that’s the easiest, and cheapest I may add, I came up with.

As you know, I have already read Tears of Frost, by Bree Barton, and The Devouring Gray, by Christine Lynn Herman. What you don’t know is that I’m already halfway through both on Six of Crows and The Beautiful, and I have already listened to 10% of both Sea Witch and The Raven Boys. And if this reading madness of mine continues as such, I’ll have a reading big wrap up to share with you at the end of the month. Just a reminder that something like that hasn’t happened since mid to late 2018!

Fingers crossed I keep myself motivated in terms of both reading and writing!

Do you guys read multiple books at a time? What subscription services do you use in order to listen to audiobooks? Do you borrow books from your local libraries?

Thank you all for being here once again. It means the world to me and I want you to know that I most certainly don’t take your presence here for granted.

Love you all, awesome creatures!

Till next time… Toodles!

No New Post Today…

Hello awesome nerds and happy Monday!

I knew that this would happen as combining a full-time job, plus tutoring classes, plus NaNo can give you a migraine some days! And since Sunday was way busier than I expected it to be, I didn’t manage to schedule the post I was initially planning to publish.

So, the next full-length post will be published this Thursday, followed by my latest audiobook purchases.

Thank you so much for understanding. Life sometimes can get in the way.

For those of you participating in NaNoWriMo how many words have you managed to write so far?

Thank you all for being here once again. It means the world to me and I want you to know that I most certainly don’t take your presence here for granted

Have a wonderful week!

Till next time… Toodles! [image error]

BOOK REVIEW: The Devouring Gray (The Devouring Gray, #1) ~ The PERFECT mix of mystery and magic! *SPOILER FREE*

Hello awesome people and happy Saturday everyone!

You have no idea how extremely happy I am that I have already read two books this month, despite the fact that it’s NaNo month, too. And not only I’ve read two books, but both of them were 5-star rated books!

I’ve already talked about Tears of Frost, so today, I’m gonna rant a bit about the best Mystery/Urban Fantasy novel I’ve read in a while: The Devouring Gray!

“On the edge of town a beast haunts the woods, trapped in the Gray, its bonds loosening…

Uprooted from the city, Violet Saunders doesn’t have much hope of fitting in at her new school in Four Paths, a town almost buried in the woodlands of rural New York. The fact that she’s descended from one of the town’s founders doesn’t help much, either—her new neighbours treat her with distant respect, and something very like fear. When she meets Justin, May, Isaac, and Harper, all children of founder families, and sees the otherworldly destruction they can wreak, she starts to wonder if the townsfolk are right to be afraid.

When bodies start to appear in the woods, the locals become downright hostile. Can the teenagers solve the mystery of Four Paths, and their own part in it, before another calamity strikes?”

So, I listened to this on Scribd and I fell head over heels with it right from the beginning.

The schemes and the dark secrets of this little town that reminded me so very much of Rivendale, combined with the eerie atmosphere and the magical vibes that brought back memories of The Vampire Diaries TV series were the ultimate combination, what I needed for this book to win a place in my heart.

The beautiful descriptions, the amazing writing style and the unexpected plot twists, along with the multiple POVs, the diversity of the characters and the tiny touch of romance gave an extra spark to this beautiful, unique story, and simply made the book unputdownable. Or actually unstoppable, since I was listening to the audiobook.

NaNoWriMo ~ Week #1

It’s odd how quickly you can fall back into a routine you knew you always loved but you had forgotten the joy it used to bring to you. It’s even odder how many words you manage to write every day if you don’t bother to question whether the draft is good enough or not. Everyone knows that the first draft of everything is shit and everyone knows that when you write something you end up not liking, you can always come back and edit it later. That’s not the purpose of NaNoWriMo though and, thank God, I figured it out in my third try. Third time’s a charm after all…

BOOK REVIEW: Tears of Frost (Heart of Thorns, #2), by Bree Barton ~ The BEST book I’ve read so far in 2019! *SPOILER FREE*

“Maybe this is what it means to grow up. We see our parents for who they truly are, then we get to choose whether or not to follow in their footsteps.”
~ Tears of Frost (Heart of Thorns, #2), by Bree Barton

So, I know I said I would focus solely on NaNoWriMo this month, but I finished reading Tears of Frost on November 1st and I really needed to share my thoughts and feelings about it with you guys. Because, truth be told, this is probably the BEST book I’ve read so far in 2019!
